Retrievers (Labrador) – Bitches

Firstly, I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge Labrador Bitches at their Championship Show. Also, to my two stewards, Michelle Morgan and Sean Jenner.

Thank you to all the exhibiters for a lovely entry and braving the hot weather.

Overall, the exhibits were of good quality and not carrying excess weight. I was happy with my placings, some of which could have changed places on another day.

1st. SMITH, C M. Flyenpig Agatha Crispy

This little black girl oozed quality with a beautiful head and expression. She had a good reach of neck displaying a balanced outline, with good angulation fore and aft. A happy girl that moved well.

2nd. HIBBS, Mrs P. Tweeildon Morning Sunrise

A pretty yellow girl, 6 months of good size with a feminine head and expression with a nice otter tail and tight feet. She moved well around the ring and credit to the handler taking into account the puppy had never attended any training classes.

A 10 ½ month yellow bitch with a lovely feminine head looking through a kind eye. She had a good reach of neck displaying lovely outline. Correct angulation front and rear, showed well on the move. I was pleased to award her Best Puppy Bitch.

2nd. WILES & LEWIS, MRS S & MRS S, Gamesmere Ribbon In The Wind

A yellow bitch of 10 months, similar to 1st. A pretty feminine head on a good reach of neck and level top line. Good front and rear angulation, moved well around the ring. A hard decision choosing between 1 and 2.

A nice compact black girl portraying a clean outline. A pretty feminine head with good length of muzzle, a good reach of neck into a level top line and tail set. Good angulation fore and aft, well boned with tight feet and she moved with drive.

2nd. POTTER, Ms H. Alkamhurst Be Scene At Coldwelfield

Another nice black girl of 18 months giving me a difficult choice between 1 & 2 as both had similar attributes, could change places in future shows. Pleasing head and eye standing four square on good length of legs and tight feet. Moved well.

A nicely made black of 13 month that was well balanced throughout emphasised by a sweet feminine head and kind expression, attentive to the handler. Good reach of neck into well placed shoulders, good top line and tail set standing on a good length of leg and tight feet. Moved with ease around the ring.

2nd. SHIRTON, MRS Y. Woolman Born Free

A pleasing yellow with a feminine head and kind eye. Good reach of neck into well placed shoulders, level top line into the tail set. She was well balanced and moved well around the ring.

A 12-month-old black girl with a pretty feminine head and kind eye. This girl was well constructed with a level top line and good tail set. Good angulation fore and aft, as with most on the day due to the weather, was dropping her coat. Moved well around the ring.

2nd. LAMBERT, MS S. Mattand Foreign Affair A yellow girl of 10 months displaying a clean outline. Slightly larger in build to 1, but well balanced, with a feminine head looking at me through dark eyes. Good front and rear angulation standing on good length of legs. Coat on the blow as with some of the others, but not detracting from her quality.

1st. HEAD, MRS S J. Quinstone Sapphire Sunset A 2 1/2-year-old chocolate girl portraying a lovely outline topped off with a lovely head and kind eye. Level top line into tail set, correct length of leg standing on tight feet, moved well.

A black girl of good type with an appealing feminine head, gentle expression and dark eye. Well angulated throughout with a level top line into tail set and otter tail. Well balanced and moved well around the ring.

A pretty yellow girl of 19 months with a feminine head set on neck of good reach with a level top line in to a good otter tail. Nice length of leg standing on nice tight feet.

A well-balanced black bitch of 5 years with clean lines. A lovely head and kind expression sat a good reach of neck and level top line. Deep compact body with a good length of leg supported by nice tight feet. Moved well for her handler.

2nd. GUNN, MIS A. Exelby Elizabeth OF Weachyburn

A 3-year-old girl nicely put together with kind head and eye. Smaller than my 1st, however, she possessed a kind head and eye with a good reach of neck and level top line. She moved and covered the ground well

A smaller put together 3 ½ year old girl with a nice head, gentle expression and kind eye. Well balanced with good angulation front and rear. Would have preferred slightly longer leg length, but still a nice bitch and was very attentive to her handler.

A 3 ½ year old girl displaying a lovely head and expression with a good length of muzzle, and reach of reach of neck. She possessed good front and rear angulation which all went to displaying a well-balanced picture. She moved well around the ring.

A classy compact bitch which was nice and compact with a pretty feminine head and a good reach of neck into a level top line and tail set. She was constructed with good front and rear angulations. Standing on legs of good length and was in good coat. Moved well for the handler.

2nd. LAVELLE, LAVELLE & WILES, MRS A, MR R J &MRS S. Crosscroyde Chianti

A 4-year-old paler yellow with a lovely kind feminine head and eye. She was very attentive to the handler, constructed well with a good reach of neck and level top line. She stood on nice tight feet and moved well.

1st. BRADLEY, MRS P M. SH CH Nancy’s Special Treasure

I was immediately taken by this 5-year-old bitch of an excellent type. She had a beautiful head with and exceptionally kind eye. She had good reach of neck and front with well angulated hindquarters. Her top line was level into the tail set. She was besotted with her handler and moved with drive around the ring. I was pleased to be able to award her the BCC.

2nd. CAMPBELL, MS C. SH CH Binnaig Buppsala JW

Another quality black of 3 ½ years. It was a very close call between 1st & 2nd. She had similar attributes, a nice compact bitch with a feminine head and level top line with a lovely otter tail. Good front and rear angulations, slightly shorter in leg to 1., but beautifully well balanced and moved well. After calling her back into the ring after awarding 1st the BCC, I was pleased to award her RBCC.

I just adore the older dogs and the enjoyment they still have for showing. A 9 year old yellow girl with a gorgeous head and kind eye. Nicely compact, and considering the time of year in good coat. She had a level top line with good front and rear angulations. She was very attentive to the handler moved without effort around the ring. I was pleased to award her BVB.

A 9-year-old girl, another lovely exhibit with a feminine head and kind eye. She was well balanced with good front and rear angulations, moved well.
