The Pharaoh Hound Club - Single Breed Open Show -4th October 2026

My sincere thanks to the committee and officers of this distinguished breed club for the kind invitation to judge this elegant breed. The weather was kind, so we were able to judge outdoors in the sunshine in an ample sized ring. My sincere thanks to the very efficient ring stewards who kept the afternoon running so smoothly and with an excellent cheerful disposition.

I would like to thank all exhibitors who travelled near and far for your entry and for accepting my decisions in a sporting manner.

Class 1 VD (2 Entries) Abs: 1

1st Parker, Stevens, Williams & Carota, Ch/AM Ch Hallam Desert Phoenix Bakhu’s Max One in a Million (imp USA). What an outstanding male to start the judging day with! A true medium sized elegant hound with noble bearing as the breed standard requires. His head is excellent and displays the long skull and is well chiselled, excellent ear set, and correct amber coloured oval eyes. He has a lovely long lean neck lay back of shoulder and the required almost straight top line, he is so well-balanced front and rear, and his hindquarters were strong and muscular with the required moderate bend of stifle. Feet were well knuckled and firm. His movement is exceptionally clean, back and forth and his profile movement is free flowing. He has a beautiful tan coat with the required minimal white markings. A real pleasure for an aspiring judge to assess. I was delighted to award him Best Dog, BVIS and Best in Show.

1st Hansens, Bazinga Reborn of Fire and Blood, 7 months of age. What a smart puppy, lots to like here just needs a little time to settle but has a very promising future. Lovely balanced outline. I preferred his movement to the second place in this class. Pleasing expression, a good length of neck but would just prefer a little more lay back of shoulder but overall presents a very promising puppy. Good feet which were well knuckled. Res Best Dog and Best Puppy Dog.

2nd Liens, Bazinga Qnight of Westeros, 17 months. A little different in overall balance to the class winner, however age will have an impact on that. Head and expression OK but was a little reluctant to use to full potential today. Deep brisket extending down to the point of elbow as required with strong hindquarters and moderate bend of stifle. Good topline. Feet good which are well knuckled. He was just lacking a little motivation on the move today.

Class 6 OD (4 Entries) Abs: 1

This was a lovely class to judge with three very handsome males.

1st Stark’s, Bazinga prime Time V Star K, lovely read type with the required clean-cut lines. Very graceful but masculine with an alert expression, nice head, long lean neck, good shoulder. Excellent feat well knuckled, with plenty of padding. Very well handled to maximum effect and presented a very balanced outline moved well particularly in profile.

2nd Merryweather, Fletcher & Hall, CH Vaskurs Alice Cooper Fredson MIT Ynchreenoo (Imp SWE). A male now starting to look in his prime at just over 2 years old. He has a lovely outline and is balanced. His head is a little heavy for me, I would prefer a little more refinement although and a little less cheeky. Good top line, deep brisket as required, and strong rear. I prefer feet that are well padded as is required. He moved well particularly in profile. Very well handled to maximum effect.

Class 7 VB (3 Entries) Abs: 1

Nice to see two veteran girls out in the sunshine today.

1st Hartley & Cannon, Kurriera Sapphire Queen, 9 years of age. Lovely outline to this lady and breed type. She has the lovely rich tan colour and correct amount of white. Well-handled sympathetically moved OK up and down but was happier moving in the bigger ring so moved well in profile. Nice head, correct topline and shown in good condition.

2nd Hartill, Rubasu Berenice Barra at Jechemo, 7 years of age. Nice to see different coat colours in this class. Lovely outline, balanced nice head and expression moved OK. Well-handled and shown in good condition.

Class 8 SBB (0 Entries) Abs: 0

Class 9 JB (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st Hansens, Bazinga Royal Fireblood, 7 months of age. This young lady was the absolute star of the day for me, she was incredibly happy to be out at a show and has the most wonderful, charming expression. She demonstrated a very graceful but powerful clean-cut outline; she is very balanced for one who is so young. Lovely head and expression with the correct long lean skull, amber coloured eyes an Oval in shape. The correct medium high set ears, long lean slightly arched neck and the correct top line, with a good layback of shoulder. Absolutely correct front, and deep brisket. Her feet were well knuckled, and she has good free flowing movement once she was able to settle into her job. If she continues to develop as expected she would easily take top honours in the coming months, even out of puppy classes. Very promising puppy and one whose career I shall follow with interest. Best Puppy Bitch, Res Best Bitch and Best Puppy in Show.

Class 10 PGB (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st Hansens, Bazinga Red Flame Dynasty, 7 months of age. Litter sister to the previous puppy and clear to see. Much the same can be said for this puppy as the little sister in that she has a lovely outline, breed type, excellent feet, head and expression. Moves well once settled. I would prefer a little more infill in chest, but this may come with age another promising puppy.

2nd Hartley & Cannon, Doucai’s Pixxispad, 3 years of age. Not looking so happy to be at the show today, so was lacking a little bit of enthusiasm particularly on the move but she does have a nice outline with breed excellent coat and colour, top line OK. Well-muscled and shown in good condition.

Class 11 LB (0 Entries) Abs: 0

Class 12 OB (2 Entries) Abs: 1

1st Hansens, AM CH NCMS Heart of Eternity, 4 years of age. Lovely outline and overall balance to this female, who is now in her prime. Excellent head and eye, front OK, deep brisket, good topline and excellent coat and colour. Well-schooled and clearly knows her job. Moved well in profile in the big ring. Best Bitch & Best Opposite Sex.

Class 13 Brace (0 Entries) Abs: 0

Class B 12-16 Years junior Handling

1st Bella Wigstead, age 15. Very competent young handler, who was very attentive to her dog. Was able to follow all instructions thoroughly and always maintained contact with her dog. Demonstrated knowledge of the breed she was showing, to ensure he was shown to maximum effect. I'm sure she will have a very successful career as a handler.
