My thanks to the committee for the kind invitation and hospitality on the day. I enjoyed the whole show with some very promising youngsters present which bodes well for the future. It was a hot day and some of the dogs were affected more than others and as such didn’t move quite so well but with the profuse jackets that’s not at all surprising. Temperaments as ever were faultless. The baby puppies were a delight to judge
“ naughty but nice” best describes them. As a judge I do not look for puppies to stand rock solid with no animation I like them to enjoy themselves, after all I can go over them and feel how they are constructed so if they don’t come back and stand like statues that’s not an issue for me, they have plenty of time through their careers later on to do that and to a degree the same goes for any exhibit in my humble opinion, I’ve seen how they are made and how they move and that’s what I base my choices on not a statue. Thanks to the exhibitors for their acceptances on the day. We come with the best and we take home the best. The decisions on the day are purely one man’s opinion. Maybe the heat and long day took it’s toll on some dogs here today as some didn’t move as well as they perhaps should have done given their construction.
BPD 2 boisterous youngsters thoroughly enjoying their day today which is good to see 1 Tomkins’ Fortonpark Hot To Trot Barely 4 months old but showing great promise in his build and overall balance. Head is breaking well at this age with dark almond eyes, ears set on high and defined stop. Well angulated fore and aft with ample bone and ribbing for his age. Sound in his movement albeit loose as to be expected but it’s all there to build on as he grows. 2 Baldwin’s Fortonpark Hot Legacy Litter brother to winner and like peas in a pod in terms of construction and type. On the day his brother was a tad more advanced in his development and hind movement. Head and body are proportionate, dark almond eyes and high set mobile ears. Again I’d say these two will swap many times and have good futures. BPB 1 Copeland’s Kernow Prize at Maxjabar 5 months old and at this tender age that extra bit makes a difference especially on the move. Good head to go over being proportionate to body, flat skull and perceptible stop. Forehand is well angulated with straight limbs and tight feet. Ample depth of chest and shape of ribbing, moves soundly in all directions and shows a good stride in profile for most of the time, of course she needs to tighten up which she will do with time as will all the babies so that is not a criticism. BBPIS 2 Reid & Givens’ Fortonpark Hot Pink Litter sister to the boys and like them she is showing a lot of potential for the years ahead. Clean head planes, dark almond eyes and high set ears. Well constructed fore and aft. Not so together on the move today as winner but for sure this will change as she grows. TAF 3 Baldwin’s Fortonpark Hot By Design
VD 1 Bird’s CH Cullumbern Milano JW ShCEx OSW At 7 ½ years young this boy still out moves many a younger exhibit despite the heat on the day. Scores well in head, strong and well proportioned, dark almond eyes, high set ears and strong jaws well angulated front assembly with matching quarters. Strong well boned limbs and compact feet. Well let down in chest and sprung in rib, holds his topline firm at all times. Well presented in jacket. BVIS MPD 1 Tallentire’s Elbernava Haunted Harmony Promising 6 month old. Balanced head to body, mid brown almond eyes, full dentition and correct bite. Moderate angles front and rear. Straight well boned forelimbs with compact feet. Topline is a tad soft static but levels on the move where he is steady and sound at all times. Needs time to develop obviously. PD 1 Manix & English’s Waldershelf Fine ‘N Dandy At 11 months this boy is showing great promise if he carries on in his development as he is today. Scores well in head with enough stop, dark eyes, ears set on high and used to his advantage when alerted. Muscular neck to well angulated front assembly and straight front. Ample depth of chest and spring to ribbing, topline firm for his age. Defined in quarters allowing a positive drive once he settled although he is a tad close going away but again age related nothing more. Shown in full clean jacket. BPIS JD 1 Watson’s Etterbern Gozan to Stepdashar At 13 months old this boy is at that “in between” stage. Well proportioned in head with flat skull, mid brown almond eyes, ears set on high and used well. Correct dentition and strong jaws. Enough length of neck into moderate front assembly in terms of angulation and body toning. Deep in chest, firm in topline into defined quarters. Sound in all directions but tends to be a tad close behind going away. YD 1 Love & Johnson’s Gorsebern Mister Twister 18 month old that is maybe a tad shorter coupled but he has time. Clean in head with flat skull, mid brown eyes, mobile ears set on high and correct bite. Moderate angulation fore and aft, well ribbed up and firm in back. Sound and clean on the move which allowed him the class on the day. 2 Price’s Rodiveco The Archer at Kohbern Same age as winner and tad better balanced in body height to length but not so sure footed or clean going away today. Good head ratios with strong jaws and full dentition. Muscular in forehand, tight feet and enough bone. Holds his topline on the move and static. Sure they will swap many times judging by todays showing. GD 1 Austen’s Norburylou Karias Star 3 ½ years old. Proportionate in head, mid brown almond eyes, high set ears used well when needed and full dentition with correct scissor bite. Strong well boned limbs fore and aft standing on tight feet. Easy and sound on the move in all directions. 2 Vaychkus & Vaickus’ Bernaroso Grand Prix 2 year old that for me has the better shape and balance but sadly today was not as fluent on the move as his construction suggested he should have been. Good head to handle, clean lines and dark eyes. Ample depth of chest and shape to ribbing. Overall good type. PGD 1 Tomkins’ Fortonpark More Class for Bernershaw 2 ½ year old sturdy boy in all ways. Clean proportionate head to handle, almond eyes, mobile well set ears and correct scissor bite. Moderate angulation fore and aft allowing a steady and sound movement to and fro and profile. Well prepared jacket. 2 Ellis’ Kernow Sealion at Fitzford Similar age to winner and alike in many ways in terms of build and balance. Strong in forehand with matching quarters. Moderate angulation fore and aft. Holds his topline on the move but today he wasn’t as positive as winner but maybe due to the heat. Well presented in jacket. 3 Meakin’s Angelrain Dark Prince MLD 1 Baldwin’s Fortonpark Top Tones 2 year old. Scores well in head, clean lines, dark almond eyes and well set mobile ears. Strong neck of fair length into moderately angulated front assembly with compact feet. Well ribbed up, topline firm and level at all times. Drives well from his quarters to match his forward reach. Well presented in jacket. 2 Austen’s Kernow Blue Mist 6 ½ year old. Strong proportionate headpiece with mid brown eyes and scissor bite. Moderate angles fore and aft, strong bone all though but feet and pasterns could be better. Today he was carrying a bit too much weight and this impacted on his overall movement. LD 1 Reid & Givens’ Fortonpark Senator at Mytrue This 2 ½ year old stole the day for me for his overall construction and balance. Super head to go over with hands moulding round it and nothing out of place. Expressive dark almond eyes, high set ears that he uses to his advantage when alerted, full clean dentition and scissor bite. Powerful neck of fair length into very good front assembly not only for angulation and bone but also musculature needed for any working dog. Well let down in chest and sprung in rib, strength in back that remains level at all times thanks in part to his equally well built hindquarters. He moves with such consummate ease and precision in total harmony with his handler and comes to rest standing four square with minimal fuss. All this topped with excellent coat presentation to complete the picture. DCC & BIS Surely he will be titled soon judging from todays performance. 2 Krjukova’s Finite Melle Dulcior [Imp Pol] 4 ½ year old. Scores well in head strong without being overdone or coarse in any way. Dark brown eyes, ears set on high and used when called for, strength in jaws with correct dentition. Muscular neck into moderately angulated forehand supported by well boned limbs and tight feet. Ample depth of chest and spring to ribbing. Powerful hindquarters allowing a smooth and positive movement in all directions. Well presented overall. 3 Weatherbed’s Harvestbank King Creole OD 1 Peacocke & Plant’s Bobb Vom Durrbachler Wald 5 ½ year old maybe in his prime in terms of finishing. Good head to handle, strong, clean and well proportioned. Mid brown eyes, mobile ears set on high. Scissor bite and strong jaws. Moderate angulation fore and aft giving him the framework to drive hard from his rear to match his forward reach. Stands over himself well when he comes to rest. 2 Green, Green & English’s ESP CH Devael Think Big Start Small [Imp Esp] 3 ½ year old well constructed all through in terms of angulation and body toning. Strong all male in head without being overdone at all. Ample depth of chest and spring of ribbing, firm level back and well defined quarters. Profile movement is good as is his front but today he was a tad close going away but like others he may well have been affected by the heat and double show because his build suggested otherwise. Well presented overall. Breeders D 1 Meakin’s Angelrain Dark Prince 2 ¼ year old. Well balanced overall in terms of angulation and head proportions. Ears set on and used well when needed, mid brown almond eyes, scissor bite and strong jawline. Ample length of neck into moderately angulated front, well ribbed up and straight in back. Steady and sound on the move in any direction. Shown in full bloom. CHD 1 Copeland’s CH Kernow Dollar Promises at Maxjabar ShCEx 5 year old in his prime. Scores well in head, clean lines, flat skull, defined stop, dark almond eyes and high set ears. Powerful neck of good length into clean well laid shoulders and straight front. Strong well boned limbs with compact feet. Ample depth of chest and spring of ribbing, holds a firm level back at all times thanks in part to his muscular well defined hindquarters. On the day he was the more positive and fluent on the move in this class. Well prepared jacket finished the picture. RDCC 2 Manix, Manix & English’s CH Waldershelf Bjorn To Be King JW Well built 3 year old. Good head to handle, well balanced and strong, dark almond eyes, full clean dentition and strength in jawline. Powerful in front assembly and matched in quarters giving an overall balanced build. Well let down in chest and sprung in rib, firm level back that holds at all times whether static or on the move. Today he didn’t drive away as well as hid build suggested he should’ve been able to do. Presented to perfection in jacket. 3 Dybdall & Lydon’s CH Rodiveco King Of Hearts VB 1 Sutton & Davenport’s CH Nelstephbern Dior Forever 2 Watson’s Stepdashar Winters Wish 3 Oakaby’s Iscabern Daffadowndilly

CHB 1 Sutton & Davenport’s CH Nelstephbern Dior By Design I last judged this well built female in the group at Windsor in 2024 as a 2 year old and today she was on song again and maturing well like a fine wine, never putting a foot wrong from start to finish. She is so well constructed that she couldn’t move badly if she tried. She may not be the biggest but she is so well balanced in silhouette and all this comes together on the move where she simply eats up the ring with an effortless stride in total unison with her handler and comes to rest standing four square with minimal fuss to show off how well put together she is. Scores well in head, ears set high on her broad flat skull, dark almond eyes and strength in jaw. Muscular neck running into very well laid shoulders and strong straight well boned limbs supported by compact feet. She has plenty of depth of chest and spring of rib, topline remains firm and level at all times. Broad and well muscled in quarters with defined stifles giving her the stride to match her forward reach and cover the ground with style and ease. Put down to the minute in dense clean jacket.
