Thank you to National Dog Show for the opportunity to award my first set of CCs in Kooikerhondje, and to the exhibitors for their support. My first judging appointment in the breed was in 2008 and the ringside atmosphere continues to be positive with a clear commitment to the breed. The depth of quality continues to strengthen, and this is seen now in the recognition at group level, with my Best Veteran (also Best of Breed) taking Veteran Group 3. Congratulations.

1st: 594 HARVEY, Miss Ella Twybrook Romeo's Magic Of Folkshire - Cracking 7 month old with a wedge head and moderate curved skull. Dark almond-shaped eyes and ears set level with eye. Stands alert, is short coupled and has a level back. He is well angulated fore and aft and moves a dream. Carries his tail up and alert at all times. Good oval feet, a very promising puppy. Best Puppy in Breed

1st: 603 MARSDEN, Ms S A Gladsheim Opening Gambit JW - A nice size dog, slightly broader in skull than I would like but has correct eye and ear. Holds a strong topline and is well made throughout with good bone and a lovely rear. Moved well in profile.

2nd: 604 PURSER, Mrs Ann Twybrook Charming Prince - A larger dog, above standard. But a good type, and all in proportion and balanced. He has a strong top line. He moved true and sound from all angles. He has a good head with taper to his muzzle. Shown in good condition and had beautiful coat and ear featherings.

Class 241 LD (3 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 585 DAVIES, Mrs Carly & DAVIES, Mr Ian Twybrook Barenhauter - Lovely balance and shape to this dog. He has a divine head with equal length between skull and muzzle. He has correct almond-shaped eyes and medium ear set level with eye. He is sized well and in proportion. He has good bone and length of body. Nice tail with correct carriage and set. When he settles, he moves well and true. Considered for top honours today.

2nd: 590 GUY, Mrs Katy Jane & GUY, Mr Andrew Middanwinter War Horse At Kerelkoor JW – Close up to winner, but slightly longer cast dog and longer in muzzle length but correct skull and wedge shape head. He has a good strong top line. And is well made throughout with a good rear. He moves well in all angles.

3rd: 593 HARVEY, Miss Ella Kerfkooiker Gynn At Folkshire

Class 242 OD (3 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 584 DAVIES, Mrs Carly & DAVIES, Mr Ian Millhanger Kemboy - This seven-year old dog had everything about him today and was on form to take the Dog CC, Best of breed and Best Veteran, later taking Veteran Group 3, he didn’t stop performing. He is a lovely type and shape of correct size. A strong top line held level. He has a lovely head with a moderately curved skull and muzzle equal length with slight wedge and tight lips. He has good bone for his size, is well made and balanced throughout which shows in his flowing, springy movement with reach and drive. He was hard to fault. 

2nd: 588 GUY, Mrs Katy Jane & GUY, Mr Andrew Gladsheim Eleodoro At Kerelkoor - This 8 year old dog was slightly longer than first. But lots to like about him and well balanced. Nice head with correct wedge through muzzle. He holds a strong topline on the stand and move. He has a good rear and moves well, but just wasn't always as clean in front movement as my winner in the class but pulled himself together when called to challenge for the RCC, of which I was pleased to award.

3rd: 586 GUTTERIDGE, Mrs Sarah Alison & GUTTERIDGE, Mr Wayn Benitin Trojan Of Geduld

Class 243 VD (3 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 610 WILLIAMS, Miss S E Cairnbraid Onwaba Lukimbi Of Gladsheim (Imp Bel) – A 10 year old dog I have judged before and his movement has barely changed with age. He still has that flowing movement with reach and drive, although his front isn’t as tight as it once was, I could forgive this with his age. He carries himself well with a strong top line and good proportions. He has a nice head and eye, carrying his head lower on the move.

2nd: 608 WHITEHEAD, Ms Sarah Gladsheim Helios Of Sakurai - This 8 year old dog is compact and balanced in angulation fore and aft. And has a lovely rear. He moves well, has a nice head with shorter muzzle than some. Good eye and ear, nice feet. Today he lacked a little sparkle.

3rd: 591 GUY, Mrs Katy Jane & GUY, Mr Andrew Gladsheim Acer At Jumasue

1st: 592 HALL, Miss S Twybrook Romeo's Boo - Compact 7 month old feminine bitch. Nice shape and angles with good depth of chest for her age. Sweet head but very immature at this stage. Standing on compact feet and moves well.

2nd: 598 JONES, Mr Derek Moonhaven Sundborn Spirit (imp Swe) - This is a taller bitch and slightly longer cast. She has a nice head with dark eyes. She holds a strong topline and stands on compact feet. She still needs to fill out in body, but has time.

1st: 598 JONES, Mr Derek Moonhaven Sundborn Spirit (imp Swe) - See second puppy bitch.

Class 247 PGB (3 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 611 WILLIAMS, Miss S E Gladsheim Phoenix Rising - 2 year old bitch of a nice size and good balance. Head shows a slight curve to skull with wedge muzzle. Standing on small, compact feet with balanced angulation. She holds a correct level topline on the stand and move and moves well.

2nd: 597 JOHNSON, Miss C Gladsheim Storm Chaser Of Valleyrise - A stronger bitch than the winner and slightly longer through the body, with a broader skull and muzzle. She has a lovely depth of chest with well-sprung ribs, is well made throughout and balanced with well muscled and moderate length neck. She is another who holds a strong topline.

3rd: 600 JONES, Mrs V A & JONES, Mr D Gladsheim Savanna At Maplecoombe

Class 248 LB (3 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 587 GUTTERIDGE, Mrs Sarah Alison & GUTTERIDGE, Mr Wayn Twybrook Rotkappchen Of Geduld - This bitch stood out for me on her type and size and she moves so well with such a flowing action. She is well made with correct angulation fore and aft. She's well balanced with compact oval feet and good bone. Lovely head with dark eye and medium ears set just above eye level. Tail carried well on the stand but tended to curl on the move which unfortunately impacted the Kooiker outline slightly. With everything else, I could not deny her the RCC.

2nd: 607 STEWART, Mrs C E J Twybrook Sweet Princess RL1Ex - A taller bitch, but compact in length to give that nearly square proportions. Good Oval bone, with nice body, showcasing well-sprung ribs.

3rd: 602 MAR-GERRISON, Miss A Valkira Whispering Hope

Class 249 OB (4 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 596 JOHNSON, Miss C Ch Valleyrise Illustration - This is a lovely bitch to go over. Well made and can see why she is already a champion. She's in good medium length coat today, holding a strong top line. She has a divine head and good body, correct feet which are tight and compact, moves well and true behind, but in front today was going wide with her lack of concentration which lost her top honours.

2nd: 606 STEWART, Mrs C E J Int Ch Lux Ch NL Ch Qunack's Favor Light For Twybr - Lovely size and height. But currently has a thicker covering and a shorter coat today. OK neck length with good depth of chest, but tends to stand a move a little wide in front.

3rd: 601 MAR-GERRISON, Miss A Gladsheim Willow At Valkira

Class 250 VB (5 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 595 JOHNSON, Miss C Sensation Vom Tespelkooi Of Valleyrise VW - This 11 year old bitch was not showing her age at all today in her attitude or her looks. She just is lovely construction and so well made. She is of correct size, true to type and compact through her body with tight, compact feet, and a well-muscled, strong neck. Today, on the move, she was faultless through the class and the challenge. I could not deny her the CC and was delighted to hear it was her third. 

2nd: 589 GUY, Mrs Katy Jane & GUY, Mr Andrew Cirtap's Prinses Bynton Ida Rose Mk (imp Swe) VW - This bitch has a lovely shape and construction with a strong top line. Good feet. Slightly longer through the muzzle but moved well for 12 years. I was absolutely thrilled to be able to see her again, having admired her since judging her as a puppy in 2014 where I awarded her RBB, and two years later a BB, she fulfilled all her promise and is a credit to her owners and the breed.
