It was a great pleasure and huge honour to Judge the NSDTR Club of UK 13th Championship show. My first contact with Tollers goes back to the early 1990s when my mother looked after some of Geraldine Flack’s imports and I lived next door. I have followed and judged the breed at all levels since then.

I was looking for a balanced Toller with correct angulation and the typical, slightly wedged shaped head and correctly held ears, with quality coat and good movement to complete the picture. I found this in many here today.

However, the quality was very mixed today, but my main winners were exactly what I wanted and my critiques highlights where I found good quality. Temperaments were excellent.

Size varied and some were very short in the leg and also fine bone was an issue. Ear carriage needs looking at as this spoils the facial appeal of correct Toller expression.

However, well done to you all for your good humour and praise for those that did well. I really enjoyed my day.

2nd Gibson DELPHOX GUISER Another excellent type male. Many of the winner’s good points gave him this spot. For me a bit long in back for balance and some leg white a bit too high. Excellent mover.

3rd Bate-Ash & Ash SINSIRCARIAD OLD FASHIONED Nice dog with excellent movement and coat. Moderate angulation, nice head shape but ears a bit low.
