The Hound Association championship show
Saturday 18th July 2026
Many thanks to the committee of THE Houndshow for allowing me the honour of judging my heart breed at one of the most prestigious shows on the dog show circuit. Definitely a bucket list tick for me!
The short, dry, spiky grass did affect some hounds, but movement in general did leave a lot to be desired. Dogs that were outstanding on the stack and in profile movement were not true out and back, Beagles should have an effortless stride, covering the ground with reach and drive and be sound and true coming and going.
My principal winners, excelled in movement and were typy, merry hounds.

Tri boy with a beautiful head and expression, just 6-months-old he has a super neck and shoulder, pleasing topline, good body and excellent quarters. 1ST 308 - Ch Molesend Jazzy JW (Mr M W and Mrs J S Goldberg). Beautiful head, dark eye and melting expression on this classy T/W lady, she has a crested neck into clean, well laid shoulder, neat elbows, very best of fronts and tight feet. Her topline is level, she has good fill in in front, good spring of rib with plenty of heartroom, well ribbed back to short, strong loin. Moderate tuck up, super tailset, her quarters have a good bend of stifle and good 2nd thigh, well let down hocks. On the move she is sound out and back with excellent foot timing in profile, I have often though she needed to be moved at a slightly faster pace than her handler chooses and today that happened – allowing her to display the excellent profile movement I always believed she possessed. In super coat and conditioning and free standing with her gently wagging stern she presented the exact image of the merry hound I was looking for. Happy to award her the BCC and BOB.
