National Gundog Association Championship Show, Sunday 2 August 2026 It was a pleasure to judge Irish Setter bitches at the National Gundog Association 2026 Championship Show and I would like to thank all the exhibitors for their entries and support. I found some excellent bitches on the day with the Open class in particular being incredibly strong. Irish Setter Bitch Class 187 Minor Puppy (1,0 abs) 1st Sturrock & Watt's Forfarian The Seduced, a very promising 7 month old. Beautiful clean elegant outline, such a lovely head with dark expressive eyes and sweet expression. Correct front, excellent well angulated shoulders, plenty of depth in body with good ribcage, gently sloping topline with a well set tail. Strong quarters for a baby with good width to second thigh. Excellent mover covering the ground with plenty of reach in front and drive behind. Very close decision between her and the puppy bitch winner for Best Bitch Puppy. Class 188 Puppy (4,0) 1st Bott, Allen & Morgan's Glitterati Lofty with Quensha (Imp Pol), a very mature 10 month old bitch puppy. She presents a very balanced picture when stacked and on the move. Lovely dark eye and her head will continue to develop further. Good front, elbows well let down, correct angulation to shoulder. Deep and well ribbed in body, scores with correct topline and tailset. Strong well angulated quarters, with plenty of muscle. She is ultra sound on the move, with a very positive front and rear action for a baby. My co-judge and I agreed for her to be BPIB and she went on to be RBPIS. 2nd Wojcik-Maksymiec's Genesis Lofty, litter sister to my winner. Of the same obvious quality this lovely girl is built on racier lines, being elegant and refined. Pretty head, dark eye, correc6t front, good length to her upper arm and well laid shoulder. Sufficient depth and ribs developing well. Gentle sloping topline, correct tailset and carriage, strong quarters and well let down hock. Her movement is correct in front and rear but at this early stage of development is just not the precise movement of her sister. 3rd George's's Dazycutter Fire Dancer. Class 189 Junior (8,3) 1st Wojcik-Maksymiec's Savage Love Lofty, a very pretty 17 month old, with elegant racy outline. She has a lovely head and dark eyes with the softest of expressions. Correct angulation to shoulders, plenty of depth in chest, elbows well down, gently sloping topline, correct over the croup and tail well set. Plenty of muscle in hindquarters, she moved very well with a long forward reach and plenty of drive. 2nd Stevenson's Gwendariff Cracklin Rosie for Lochlorien (IKC), another lovely bitch, 14 months old, built on elegant lines. Lovely head, such a soft gentle expression, good front, stands on correct tight feet, deep in chest and ribs carried well back. Gentle slope to her topline, good over the croup, tail well set and carried correctly. Whilst sound on the move she didn't move with the precision of my winner on the day. Not helped by the very uneven ground. 3rd Neill & Ellrich & Walsh's Gwendariff Greta Garbo. Class 190 Yearling (4,0) 1st Humphreys & Frost's Riverbrue Kinky Boots, quality youngster, 19 months of age. Very clean and elegant racy outline. Her head is beautiful, plenty of work above the brow, dark eye and a gentle expression. Correct front, good shoulders with sufficient length to upper arm. Deep in chest and well ribbed up. Topline gently sloping and correct over the croup. Stifles well bent and carrying plenty of muscle. Covered the ground well with the correct forward reach and driving rear action. 2nd Roberts & Beresford's Polmennor Spice of Life JW , another very pretty elegant racy bitch of 22 months. Particularly liked her head with such a soft gentle expression. Correct in front, sufficient depth in body and ribs carried well back. Gentle sloping topline, good over the croup and well set tail. Strong well angulated quarters. She moved soundly with sufficient reach and drive. 3rd Neill & Ellrich & Walsh Roberts's Polmennor Pandora JW. Class 191 Novice No Entries Class 192 Graduate (7,1) 1st Williams's Alolfrana Isadora Dances for Lavansands, mature bitch of nearly 3 years of age. Her outline is clean and she was presented in immaculate condition on the day. A very pretty head with a quizzical expression. Good front, correct bone, shoulders are sufficiently well laid but would just like a little mnore length to upper arm. Deep in chest and well ribbed, correct Topline leading to a well set tail. Strong angulated quarters which she certainly put to good use on the move. In agreement with my co-judge she was BSBIB and then went on to Group 4 BSBIS. 2nd Berry & Morris's Riverbrue Mystique avec Brinara JW , such an elegant and feminine 2 year old girl. She presents a balanced picture both standing and moving. Correct in front, showing plenty of heart room, good depth and ribs carried well back. Gentle sloped topline and correct over the croup with a well set tail. Well angulated stifle and covered the ground with a easy stride and driving rear action. 3rd Williamson's Caskeys United with Bluesprings. Class 193 Post Graduate (8,1) 1st Edwards & Ostman's Emma Coppers Mahogany Dream Catcher, A top quality bitch of 27 months age that caught my eye straight away with her clean and elegant outline. She is completely balanced with good front already showing plenty of heart room development, excellent shoulders with good return to upper arm and very clean over the neck and shoulder line. Loved her head, long and lean, beautiful eye shape and colour. Good depth in body and ribs carried well back. Excellent top line leading to correct croup and tail well set. Strong well angulated quarters, super to watch on the move with correct reach to front movement and strong driving rear action. No hesitation in awarding her the RCC. 2nd Mugford's Kedalita Abfab for Lynwood JW , a 3 year old quality bitch. Very sound and honest with a quality head, gentle expression, correct in front, excellent shoulder construction showing correct length to upper arm, shoulders well laid. Good depth in brisket with well let down elbows, well ribbed and gentle sloping topline. Good width to her quarters and hocks well let down. She moved very well with tail lashing straight off her back. 3rd Coleman's Camaling Rose Royale, Class 194 Mid Limit (4,0) 1st Jones's Gwendariff Rhianna JW, top quality bitch of nearly 3 years of age. Clean and elegant in outline with a gently sloping topline, such a lovely head, dark eye and such a sweet expression. Good front with plenty of heart room, her shoulders are correct being well angulated. Superb depth of brisket, a well sprung ribcage, short and strong through the loin, excellent quarters with correct width to second thigh. She was in full coat and was presented in immaculate condition. Certainly considered her in the challenge, she moved so well, powerful movement both in front and strong rear action. 2nd Condron & Needs's Covarney Mini Minx, a quality bitch of over 3 years of age. Racy and elegant with a lovely head. Such a soft and gentle expression, correct front standing on tight feet, clean and elegant over the neck and shoulder line, sufficient depth to brisket, ribs carried ell back. Well angulated stifles, very sound on the move although not with the power of my winner. 3rd Hunter & Brown's Glencarron Another Chapter at Braidmount, Class 195 Limit (6,2) 1st Cox's Tiroen The Sky’s The Limit, such a delightful very pretty 3 years old bitch. Although not a big girl everything was in the right place. Clean and racy in outline, beautiful head, her expression melts you. She stands on good tight feet, excellent shoulders with good length to upper arm. Deep in chest, ribs carried well back, gently sloping topline. Correct over the croup with good tail set. Well bent stifles. She moved really well covering the ground with a free easy action. 2nd Parsons' Forfarian Flutt'r Yer Lashes at Bransett, 6 year old mature bitch presented in excellent condition. Very well balanced. Her head is lovely, dark expressive eyes, good front, elbows well tucked in, deep in chest and well ribbed up. Her topline is correct, good tail carriage, strong quarters with plenty of muscle tone. Very sound both in front and rear movement. 3rd McDonald's Quensha Galway Girl, Class 196 Open (11,0) Certainly my class of the day. Brimming with beautiful bitches. A privilege to judge. 1st Godart's Int Sh Ch/bel/nld/lux/ger Ch Riverwood The Devil Wears Prada Jch , absolutely beautiful 6 year old bitch in her prime. Her outline is stunning, she has the correct height on leg which gives her a perfect overall balance. She literally flows in outline from the tip of her nose to the end of her tail. Her head is exquisite and to die for, long and lean, correct raised brow and a beautiful melting expression. Excellent front and stands on correct feet, text book shoulders set into a gently sloping topline, correct depth to brisket, excellent spring of rib. Perfect tail set carried right off her back on the move. Well bent stifles with well developed first and second thigh, short from hock to ground. Excellent on the move, powerful in both front and rear movement, her coat absolutely gleamed in the sunshine. Thrilled to be able to award her her third CC and her UK title. 2nd Mugford's Sh Ch Lynwood Rather Scrumptious JW, this 4 year old bitch looked really well today and her name is very apt. She is a very well balanced bitch with racy outline, excellent body properties and presented in lovely coat and condition. Beautiful head with lovely dark eye giving a soft expression. Plenty of heart room, shoulders well angulated, deep in brisket and well ribbed, strong well angulated quarters. She was very sound on the move with good forward reach and plenty of drive from the rear. 3rd Roffey's Sh Ch Gwendariff Skys The Limit (IKC), Class 197 Veteran (7,2) Two lovely bitches headed this class and although both different in type they appealed to me immensely for their obvious qualities. 1st Hunter's Sh Ch/int Sh Ch Fairhaven Electra (Imp Swe) , what fabulous condition this 9 year old bitch was in for her age. Her coat absolutely gleamed. I loved her head with such a dark expressive eye and plenty of work above the brow. Her ears were so well set. Excels in front with well developed heart room, correct angulation to upper arm, shoulders well laid, good depth to her brisket, well ribbed up. Text book gently sloping topline with correct tail set and carriage. Really well muscled quarters with excellent second thigh development. So precise and sound both in front and plenty of drive from the rear. My co-judge and I agreed for her to be Best Veteran in Breed. 2nd Catling's Sh Ch Teleri Indian Summer (ai) JW, also 9 years old this beautiful bitch pushed the winner hard as there was little to choose between them. Such a classic outline, racy and elegant. The prettiest of heads, with dark eye giving a soft gentle expression. Excellent front, elbows well let down. Good length to upper arm and shoulders well laid. Plenty of depth to her chest and ribs carried well back. Excellent topline leading to a correct croup with well set tail. Strong well muscled quarters, such a precise mover for her age. 3rd Sturrock & Watt's Sh Ch Forfarian Soo Lush JW, Class 198 Special Beginners (2,0) 1st Williams's Alolfrana Isadora Dances for Lavansands , mature bitch of nearly 3 years of age. Her outline is clean and she was presented in immaculate condition on the day. A very pretty head with a quizzical expression. Good front, correct bone, shoulders are sufficiently well laid but would just like a little mnore length to upper arm. Deep in chest and well ribbed, correct Topline leading to a well set tail. Strong angulated quarters which she certainly put to good use on the move.
