Foreword

I would like to thank Darlington Championship show committee for their kind invitation to Judge my beloved breed at this prestigious show extending my gratitude to all the exhibitors for their entries and further express a warm appreciation especially to my lovely steward Andrea Smith, who looked after myself and kept classes running smoothly.

I thoroughly enjoyed Judging some superb examples of this incredible breed today. However, I was troubled by the variation in size in Dogs and Bitches. A trend becoming increasingly more noticeable year-on-year. I observed a few exhibits lacking in condition, lack of muscle tone and flat feet. This is an athletic breed bred to hunt, point and retrieve out in the field.

Nonetheless, I was very lucky to adjudicate over some beautiful examples of this fine breed.

Judge Sharron A Dyer.

Weimaraner

Veteran dog

1st Bennett - Calvamist Cosworth with purpose

Rising 8yr old dog who just exudes quality, masculine head with the kindest of expression with nothing overdone. Good depth to brisket with elbows nicely tucked and ribs well back. Clean neck that flows nicely into his strong level topline. Gentle croup with moderate angulation throughout. Moved soundly but lacked enthusiasm today.

2nd McMahon silver Kelvin Jupiter over Magdala JW

Another quality dog of nine years who belies his age. Beautiful pale silver in fabulous condition. Pleasing head, arched neck with good depth of chest, correct body proportions throughout. Unlucky to meet 1st today.

Minor Puppy dog

1st Cairns - Lamarg Silver Hitman.

Promising baby full of quality and type. Pleasing head, slightly arched neck flowing into well laid shoulders. Good length of rib, moderate angulation. Presents an eye-catching outline when stood, nothing exaggerated. Moved soundly for one so young.

2nd Robson – Kalimor Grayson at Robricci

Lots to like about this boy, I liked his head of good shape and type. He has a soft expression, ears well set, clean neck with good depth of chest. Ribs well back, ample bone. He was not as sound on the move as winner today, but he is very much a baby who clearly enjoyed his time in the ring.

What more can I possibly say that has not already been said about this lovely dog. He has a masculine balanced head, strong neck of good length leading to well laid shoulder placement. Deep in fore chest, straight front, super length of body with ribbing well back. Well-muscled quarters and low strong hocks enabling him to cover the ground with purpose and drive. Presents a classic outline when stood. Delighted to award him DCC.

Another quality outstanding male. I loved his aristocratic head, melting expression, slight arched neck flowing into a level topline. Correct shoulder placement, deep fore-chest with brisket to elbow, ribbed well back with good length. Well angulated and muscled rear quarters. Impressive outline when stood, just lost out to 1ST on movement. RCC.

Minor Puppy Bitch

1st Phillips – Stormdancer Sweet Caroline Rivertone

Well, this young lady knew exactly what she had to do to win this big class of youngsters. Prettiest of heads, soft expression, ears of good length, clean reachy neck that led to good front assembly. Ribs well back, nicely angulated strong hindquarters which allowed her to move soundly holding a level topline. I am sure she has a bright future ahead.

2nd Robson – Kalimor Ayda at Robricci

Different type to 1st but another cracking young lady who I am sure will have a bright future. Classic feminine head, kindest of eyes with well set ears of good length. Clean neck which flowed into a good front assembly, shoulders well laid, chest had depth and width, straight well boned legs with tight feet. Height to length proportions correct. Good ribbing with nicely angulated quarters.

I loved her classic clean outline on profile but unfortunately, she gave her handler a hard time and was unlucky to meet 1st today.

Junior Bitch

1st Rodgers – Minstergate Celebration JW

Quality youngster who cannot be denied her qualities. On entering the ring, she has a presence that exudes “look at me”. Her head is of good type, with ears of good length and fold. Clean reach of neck flows into level topline. Her chest is deep, ribs well back, short loin, strong muscled quarters with slight bend of stifle. Enough bone for her frame. Moved soundly with purpose.

Another I have admired who is maturing nicely. She has a classic feminine head with a kind eye and expression, clean neck with correct shoulder placement with a deep fore-chest, tight elbows and ribs which are well back. She has strong but moderate hindquarters which allows her to cover the ground. Not as sound as 1st on the move today and would have preferred a little less weight.

Post Grad Bitch

1st Jeffries – Rivertone Athena over Silbermee

Quality Bitch who has lots to offer. Prettiest head with a soft expression and lovely long leathers. Clean elegant neck flowing into well laid shoulders. She is a nice length with moderate angulated hindquarters. For me she lacks muscle tone and when stood on profile looks unfinished, but on the move, she pulled out all the stops to present her fabulous movement.

I was thrilled to award her the BCC and BOB.

I could have taken her home with pleasure and extremely delighted to see her shortlisted in the group.

2nd West – Sh Ch Gunalt Wavelength JW.

Another Bitch I have watched and admired with her clean classic outline. Very stylish type of medium size, she has a feminine head, kind eye and melting expression. Clean reachy neck flows into well laid shoulders and good return of upper arm. Topline is firm and level, with well-developed quarters, depth of chest with tight elbows. On the move she is powerful but not overdone. A worthy champion.
