RICHMOND CH SHOW SEPTEMBER 2026 BERNESE MOUNTAIN DOG The ring was a challenge for all of us on the day in question - not only for the significant and rising slope throughout its length but the ruts and holes did not help either. So finding a flat area was a challenge for all of us but with a wonderful breed like this the ability to assess ‘free movement’ on the out and back, and in profile, followed by a ‘free stand’ is for me fundamental. 1. Bird’s Ch. Cullumbern Milano JW ShCEx OSW VW. Well proportioned dog and it was this that took the class for him, good head and expression, nice balance and correct length to height ratio, sound in profile but moved wide in front on the out and back. 2. Cotton’s Ch. Kernow Billy No Mates at Jukesbern. Very well handled and presented but overall proportions rather too long in the loin for me compared to the height at the withers, however sound on the move. JD 1(0)
1. Copeland’s Oakbern Vali of Gold at Maxjabar. 14 month old male, good proportions when viewed in profile but on the stand tended to stand at 10 to 2 and was a touch ‘hocky’ on the out and back, shown in good coat and condition. ND 2(1) 1. Howard’s Etterbern Essex Boy. 3 year old male, good head proportions, excellent balanced angulation, strong top-line, nice feet and pasterns, absolutely sound on the move, shown to advantage, RDCC. PGD 7(0) 1. Howard’s Etterbern Essex Boy. Repeat. 2. Cotton’s Etterbern Buz Vegas at Jukesbern. Nicely balanced dog, just a little untidy in front on the stand but good head, strong top-line, nice croup and tail set, absolutely sound on the move. 3. Meakin’s Angelrain Dark Prince. LD 7(0) 1. Austen’s Kernow Blue Mist. A difficult class but on balance this first exhibit showed the better balance of angulation fore and aft, correct head and expression, good shoulders, nice turn of stifle and sound on the move. 2. Ganko’s Haribo Kielo Cud at Ninnilove. I like this exhibit but for his front on the stand was at 10 to 2, good overall proportions and moved as well as anyone in the class, excellent head and expression. 3. Jones’ Collansues Abracadabra. 1. Weatherbed’s Harvestbank King Creole. Very nice 3 year old male, good head, excellent overall proportions, sound on the move and was absolutely rock solid on the free stand and it was this that took the class, DCC. 2. Cotton’s Ch. Shirdees Greatest Showman at Jukesbern. Quite a strong head with as much stop as I would like but good angulation and moved to advantage, a touch untidy in front on the stand. 3. Dybdall/Lydon’s Ch. Rodiveco King of Hearts. VB 1(0)
1. Wright/Kirk’s Ch Uk Int Ch Fr Ir Rom Objet D’Art du Hameau De Baika avec Roesilbern. Very nice 8 year old bitch, lovely feminine head and expression, excellent angulation fore and aft, strong top-line, absolutely sound on the move and shown in good coat and condition, BCC, BV & BOB. MPB 1(0) 1. Copeland’s Kernow Prize at Maxjabar. 8 month old bitch, charming head and expression, well angulated but constantly in search of reward on the out and back which spoilt her front movement but nice overall balance with a typical feminine head and expression, BP. PB 1(0) 1. Spalding’s Kinelarty Rambling Rose. 9 month old bitch, lovely feminine head, plenty of leg length, balanced angulation, a little narrow throughout at this stage however this will improve with maturity, sound on the move and a nice prospect. 1. Oliver Bridges’ Liskarn Love Me Like You Do. Very nice 17 month old feminine bitch, good head and expression, as much back length as I would like, shown in good coat and condition, very well handled and presented, RBCC. 2. Carman’s Iberia Z Cvanovho Dvora. Nice head and expression, good bone, correct feet, good pasterns, moderate angulation fore and aft, sound on the move. 3. Spalding’s Tulipanpos Berni Quintina Quinta at Tickbern. YB 3(2) 1. Wright/Kirk’s Roesilbern Fors Fortuna JW. Feminine head and expression, correct length of neck, balanced angulation, strong top-line, good croup and tail set, correct bone, easy on the move. NB 2(0)
1. Carman’s Iberia Z Cvanovho Dvora. Repeat. PGB 2(0) 1. King/Green’s Arvella Busy Bea JW. Just took the class on overall better balance when viewed in profile, feminine head, good overall proportions, excellent bone, correct feet and sound on the move. 2. Meakin’s Bellatrix Do Monte Dos Ursos (imp PRT). Another nice bitch but with as much length of loin as I would like but again foot perfect on the out and back. LB 3(2)
1. Evans’ Etterbern Made In Essex for Evansly. Very well proportioned bitch also shown in good hard condition, feminine head, correct strong top-line, moved well in profile, tended to flick her pasterns on the out and back. OB 5(0) 1. Oliver Bridges’ Ch. Rodiveco Tatiana Arette to Liskarn. Took the class on her movement, nice head and expression, correct neck and set of shoulder, good bone, nice feet, strong top-line, again as much back length as I would like but absolutely sound on the move. 2. English/Green’s Ch. Waldershelf Gin and Tonic. Very well handled and presented carrying as much condition as I would like on the day, a little loose in the front on the out and back. 3. Sutton/Davenport-Willis’ Ch. Nelstephbern Dior by Design. Simon Luxmoore
