RICHMOND CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW – NORWICH TERRIER

Firstly I would like to give my huge thanks to exhibitors who entered under me, and gave me the opportunity to examine and judge some fabulous dogs. Secondly, I would like to thank Cathy Thompson-Morgan the Breed Education Coordinator who put in great efforts to encourage a good entry for me as I was having an observation for the Judges Education Programme today. Finally, I am very gracious to all exhibitors for taking my decisions so well and with such grace. Such a fabulous atmosphere in the breed and ring. I love the Norwich and today proved why.

1st: OSTERMANN, Ms D R & INETT, Miss Dawn Kaju Skippy In Blue Jeans

This boy has a good muzzle length, he possesses a width of skull, pleasing eye shape and expression. Ears are set well apart and erect. He has ample forechest, tight legs to the body with good rib and depth of chest. Drives out well fore and aft, and tracks movement. He is shown in good coat texture and tail carriage. I’d like a slightly better angulation in stifle.

1st: CRAWLEY, Mrs L A Willsifox Playful Whisper. A 19month old male. He has a good balance of muzzle to back skull. His head oozes quality, and gives beautiful eye and expression. He has a good width and strength to his skull, carrying his ears which are set well apart and erect. He has a good neck into well laid shoulders which he uses to his advantage on the move where he reaches out well. He drive true from behind, and his foot fall tracks well on the move. He has a good width to his rear end. He is plenty big enough and I wouldn’t want any more of him, and I like his overall balance albeit a fraction longer than the Open Dog. He is shown in immaculate coat and condition, and today was my Best Dog and Best of Breed.

2nd: DARKINS, Miss Shoshone Montana Ragus Sand Marten. 3yr old Red Male. Little smaller all round than the winner. He has good proportions in his head, a little lighter in eye than I would like. Good neck into shoulders, his shoulders are a little forward compared to winner. Ribs go well back. He has a tendency to be a bit loose with his tail on the move.

1st: THOMPSON-MORGAN, Mrs C & LAZENBY, Mrs J It Ch Ch Tinkave Vibe Setter At Belleville Ww-25. A dog I have admired several times in the past, and was grateful to get my hands on him today. His head proportions are good, he has a dark eye and appealing expression. He has a good width of skull in proportion to the rest of him, albeit I would probably like a little more masculinity in the head. He has well laid shoulders and good return of upper arm which he uses to advantage on the move to reach straight forward. He has good ribs and depth of chest, a good length of loin. His proportions are good, and he has a good length of body. Today he didn’t move with the appealing attitude that I have seen him show with in the past, and was a little out of coat. He still however was a worthy reserve best dog, which for a dog of his quality and history I was pleased to award him.

2nd: MARTIN, Mrs Margaret Frances Ch Ragus Oh Boy. 5yr old, little slight all round compared to the winner. His bite is not his fortune. Little feminine in head for me. He has an ample forechest, length a little bit longer than the winner. He was a little narrower behind.

PB (3 Entries) Abs: 2

1st: CRAWLEY, Mrs L A Ragus Aint Misbehaving. 9month old bitch. She has femininity, but also has the most beautiful of heads and probably the best head in the bitches today. She has well set ears with plenty of width between them. She has a moderate neck, good forechest. Good length of body, she needs to come up on leg a little with age to balance her body proportions out. She just needs to strengthen in rear movement to be a little cleaner behind on the away. She carries her tail well on the more. Reserve best bitch and Best Puppy in Breed.

JB (2 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: DARKINS, Miss Shoshone Montana Ragus Another Summer. Her head proportions are a little less than 2:3 for overall balance. I would like a little more width in muzzle also. Her eye is dark and her expression is appealing. Her ribs are sprung and carried well back, and loin short. Tail is set a little lower and carries her tail back on the move. She is a tad upright in shoulder.

PGB (3 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: BRACKNER, Mr Barry Ragus Painted Rose At Brupurhat. 16month old. She is the best body proportions of the two. She has a balanced head, good muzzle and skull proportions. Dark eye with a pleasing expression. She has a fabulous set of teeth on her as well. Ears are well set and she has space between them in her skull width. She has a beautiful front and well laid shoulders. She drives out well. I liked her a lot today, she has a very bright future I’m sure.

2nd: DARKINS, Miss Shoshone Montana Winflash Love To Question. Little longer in body, she has a good muzzle and head balance. She has a dark eye and good expression. Little shorter on leg than the winner. Tail carried well and she moves OK.

LB (3 Entries) Abs: 2

1st: BRACKNER, Mr Barry Ragus Sunday Girl For Brupurhat. A 2yr old bitch I have admired before, today she was a little lacking some coat on her face which spoiled overall expression. She has a feminine head, her ears are set well apart and she has a good width in her skull in proportion to rest of her overall size. Good neck into well laid shoulders. Her tail is set and carried well, she moves out well.

OB (3 Entries) Abs: 2

1st: 280 LAZENBY, Mrs J Ch It Tinkave Summer Vibes. 2yr old beautiful bitch shown in good coat. She has a lovely feminine head, beautiful eye and good expression. She has well set ears and width in her skull. She has a good lay of shoulder, ribs well back and loin short. She has a good bend of stifle. Carries her tail well and move out well in profile. Away and back she could be a tad cleaner for me, but she is still a quality bitch. Best Bitch, BOS.
