My sincere thanks to the Society for this appointment and for your warm hospitality. I would also like to express my appreciation to the exhibitors for the excellent entry and for the honour of assessing your dogs. It was disappointing that we did not enter the ring until mid-day, by which time the warmth of the occasional sunshine had disappeared leaving low cloud and a cold wind. As a result some exhibits were not showing to their best advantage, and a few decisions may well have been different under more favourable conditions. What was particularly heartening was the strength of the puppy classes, which were well supported and full of promise. I look forward to watching these youngsters mature into quality adults that will enable a bright future for the breed.

1. Hind’s Diamoneo One Step Beyond  

Red with good dark pigment. An ideally sized and shaped youngster with good bone and tight, cat-like feet. Pasterns still need to firm, but his rear assembly is already well developed, being parallel and clean on the move. Once settled into his stride, he moves particularly well. Masculine head of good length with a strong underjaw; dark oval eyes and small, strong ears. Strong neck flowing into a good front assembly, with adequate depth; developing forechest and tight elbows. Compact body with a short, strong topline. Good width of thigh and length and bend of stifle. His excellent head proportions, super rear and more compact body gave him the nod for BPD and, later in the challenge, BPIB over a beautiful bitch puppy.

2. McLoughlin’s Krieger’s Oor Bryan

Confident red presented in excellent condition, producing a clean and balanced outline and you know he is male from just one glance. Good head with a strong underjaw, dark well-shaped eyes, and small strong ears. Good length of neck flowing smoothy into well-laid shoulders. Strong topline with a correct tail set. Just a shade longer in back than the winner. Good forechest and depth to elbows. Straight forelegs, with pasterns still to strengthen. Well balanced throughout and moved confidently and cleanly in all direction.

1.Holman’s Adurus Golden Fleece

This red male was the clear winner of the class presenting a clean, balanced outline and moving particularly well in all directions. His strong, masculine head is of good length and strength with a flat skull between strong well set ears. A good reach of neck flowed into a well-constructed front assembly; straight forelegs, depth to elbows and good bone. His body is compact with a strong topline and correct tailset. Good width of thigh and a strong well-muscled rear. A quality exhibit with much to admire.

2. Giannitti & Krishan’s Kilmuir Kyiv For Aftershine NAF TAF 

Another eye-catching red with an overall balanced outline. Slightly stronger in head than ideal, but balanced, with good length and a strong underjaw. Skull is flat between strong, well set ears. Eyes are dark enough, though a little rounder than preferred. Arched neck set slightly higher into the shoulders than the winner, compact body and strong topline once settled. Once into his stride he moved soundly enough, although he lacked the fluidity and ease of movement shown by the winner.

1. 1st Mitchell’s CH Alcum Tee Rex DCC & BOB

When I first judged this red male, he was a 7.5mth old puppy, and he has more than fulfilled the promise he showed then. To me, he epitomises the Miniature Pinscher, in both make and temperament, still preferring to do things his own way, displaying that self-possession we all must learn to live with. Of ideal size and well bodied, with a rich depth of colour. Masculine head with a strong muzzle and good underjaw. Flat skull, the darkest of eyes, correct in oval shape, and an expression carrying that hint of mischief. Small, strong well placed ears. Good length of neck flowing smoothly into well-laid shoulders. Compact in body with a short, strong topline, well filled croup and a tail set exactly where it should be, carried correctly over his back on the move. His rear is strong and parallel, with good width of thigh, well developed bend of stifle and short, strong hocks. Correct front assembly with a well-developed forechest and good depth to elbows; straight forelegs and strong pasterns. Well-padded catlike feet. Excellent pigment throughout with dark eyes, black nose and black nails. He has the added virtue that, once settled into his stride, he displays accurate, co-ordinated hackney action both fore and aft, with the balance and precision so desired in the breed. He remains a dog I would happily take home and one I greatly admire.

2. Urwin & James CH Jaegerson Kingsman JW RDCC

Another quality red male presenting a proud and elegant outline. Slightly taller than the winner, but still balanced and full of breed type. Stunning headpiece of balanced proportions, good length of muzzle and a strong underjaw. Flat skull between the best of ear sets, with strong well-carried ears. Dark, correctly shaped eyes with an excellent expression. Good length and strength of neck flowing into well-placed shoulders, set slightly higher than those of the winner. Good forechest with depth extending beyond the elbows; straight forelegs and excellent cat-like feet. Good bone and strong, dark pigmentation throughout. Compact body with a short, strong topline and an excellent tailset and his tail carried well at all times; his strong rear quarters, and clean parallel movement complete the picture. A quality exhibit who pushed the winner hard throughout and was a worth recipient of the RDCC.

Veteran Dog (2)  

1.Mcilroy-Stracey’s Krieger’s Elf Fantastico BVIB & TOY VETERAN GROUP 3 Shaded red of ideal size, well-bodied and with bone in proportion. Attractive head with good length and strength of muzzle; dark well shaped eyes and loved his expression; Good arch to his neck fitting well into his shoulders. Decent front assembly with good breadth and depth down to elbows. Particularly liked his width of thigh and well muscled rear quarters. Came into his own on the move where he really showed himself to advatange.

 2. Reddington & Harrison Kaypin Voulez Vous

Made on a slightly larger frame than the winner, this handsome red is an eye-catching exhibit with a well balanced outline and present an impressive picture, particularly on the move. Masculine head, showing just a light frosting to his muzzle with a strong underjaw. Expressive, dark well shaped eyes and small, strong well-set ears. Strong, arched neck fits into a slightly higher wither; Straighter in front angulation than the winner, but with good breadth of forechest and adequate depth to elbow; Well-bodied with a strong topline and correct tailset, good bone and balance throughout.

1. Chapman’s Vickstock I Love To Boogie BPB & RBCC

This feminine red-head topped a class of promising bitch puppies, which bodes well for the future. Pleasing for size and shape, with good bone. Presented in excellent condition and possessing the best feet of day, despite some very good feet being on show, complemented by ultra-short nails. Feminine head of good length with a strong underjaw. Dark, well shaped eye, although still to fill in as she matures. Small, strong well set ears. Good length of neck flowing cleanly into well-laid shoulders. Strong topline, correct tailset and once into her stride, moved out confidently covering the ground with ease. Just lost out for BPIB as I preferred the BPD’s more developed head proportions and slightly more compact body, but she has much to admire and I am sure her day will come. 

2. Reddington & Harrison’s Kaypin Shooting Star

Lovely red youngster, very similar in type to the winner and I’m sure these two will enjoy some close competition in the year ahead. Feminine head with slightly better fill under the eyes than 1, though today I preferred the overall balance and proportion of head to body. Super expression aided by small strong ears. Lovely length of neck flows into a strong topline and correct tailset. Strong clean rear quarters and moved confidently. She reminded me very much of her Champion mother, whose outline, balance and movement she has clearly inherited.

1. King’s Adurus Constellation

Larger framed blk/tan, just out of puppy and still needing time to come together in both maturity and confidence. Strong head, well balanced with a strong muzzle and good underjaw. Small, strong ears. Lovely length of neck leading into a super front with straight forelegs, strong pasterns and good feet. Good width of thigh and bend of stifle and short strong hocks. Once settled, moved accurately and soundly.  

Post Graduate Bitch (2)

1. Maskell’s Churchbank Fire Angel

Red of lovely size with bone in poportion. Feminine head, dark well shaped eyes and small strong ears. Lovely length of neck flowing into a well-balanced outline, with balanced angulation fore and aft. Good straight front with good depth to elbows and neat cat-like feet. Short, strong topline; good width of thigh and well turned stifle. Moved well, displaying sound and balanced action; Not quite in her best body condition today, showing some after-effects of her recent season.

2. King’s Adurus Constellation 1st in junior and and while giving away a great deal in maturity, has much to look forward to as she develops.

1. Anderson’s Kilmuir Krasa To Elenaux

Another red of ideal size and make, with bone in proportion to overall balance. Attractive head with dark well shaped eyes and small strong ears. Ultra compact in body and well put together. Moved well in profile, showing a good outline on the move, although needs to settle coming and going.

1. James’ Jaegerson Centrefold BCC & BOS

Strong, yet elegant red, presented in superb condition. Dark pigment throughout and good bone in proportion. Feminine head of good length with strength of underjaw; flat skull between her small, strong ears, which she used to advantage. Loved her dark, expressive well shaped eyes which enhanced her feminine expression. Super length and arch of neck flowing cleaning into her shoulders. Decent front assembly; a good forechest with depth to elbows. Straight front legs, strong pasterns and neat cat-like feet. Short, strong topline, well filled croup and correct tailset. Good width of thigh, well bent stifles and short hocks. Moved and showed extremely well today presenting a balanced and pleasing outline.

2. Mitchell’s CH Alcum Suzie Que 

Red girl whom I expected to be amongst my principal winners today. Unfortunately she was clearly not enjoying the weather conditions and, as a result, had to give way to the younger bitches who appeared less affected and were able to perform to their full potential. I like her very much for size, make and shape, with good bone and dark pigment throughout. Super head proportions, dark well shaped eyes and small, strong ears with a good ear set, although she was reluctant to use them today. Lovely length of neck flowing into a super front assembly, with good forechest, straight forelegs and strong pasterns and well-padded catlike feet. Not quite as compact as 1, but with good depth to elbows and balanced angulation front and rear. Strong topline and correct tailset. Excellent rear construction with good width of thigh, well bent stifles and short hocks. She is so well put together that she naturally comes to a halt in a foot perfect stand. A quality bitch with much to admire and, on a day when she is more comfortable with the conditions, could easily trouble her competitors.

Feminine blk/tan of pleasing overall type. Classic headpiece, strong muzzle and good underjaw. Correct eye shape, dark and expressive, complemented by a good ear set. Well boned and presented in good body condition. Maintained her strong topline with a correct tailset and moved out positively with sound and steady movement.
