Norwegian Elkhound Association of Scotland Championship Show 17/10/2026

The hugest thank you must go to the NEAS committee for inviting me to award my first set of CC’s at their show. And to all the Exhibitors for bringing their dogs for me to go over, there were some lovely examples to go over and I wish I’d been able to award more top honours especially in the males!

I was looking for a square dog with the effortless single tracking movement that we should have in our breed and I was pleased to have found it.

MPD 2 (1ab)

1st Horvath & Traylor’s Lochlannach An Seaigair. 7 month old boy, a good dark mask on a good wedge head with well set ears and dark eyes, correct angulation fore & aft, square with short loin, good length of leg and tight central tail and a lovely clear colour, correct movement once settled BPIS

JD 1

1st Middleton’s Bowerhinton Belvedere Gold at Graythor. 10 months old, lovely dark mask, eyes and ears which were somewhat wide set, square and short in loin, movement a little loose on the day.

PGD 1

1st Shield’s Ravenheim Wulfgar Lothbrok for Lochlannach. A boy I have often admired and getting my hands on him he didn’t disappoint. Lovely wedge head with well set ears, beautiful dark eyes and correct bite, the squarest of dogs, with good length of leg, short in loin and well muscled and the easy single tracking movement I was looking for. Nice clear colour with a well set central tail. Pleased to award him the DRCC & RBIS

OD 7 (1ab)

This was a strong class with little between the top dogs

1st McPeake’s Treskha Tork. A 5 year old with a lovely masculine head, dark mask & eyes and neat ears, a compact dog of correct size, good angulation fore & aft giving him excellent effortless movement, tight central tail and good colouring throughout DCC & BIS

2nd Mckittrick’s IR Ch Cnocanoir An Goban Saor Super cobby dog only 21 months old so still has some maturing to do, handsome wedge head with dark well set ears and oval eyes, short in loin, good angulation, nicely muscled with a well set tail and correct movement once settled, I do hope they will bring him over again as he will surely gain his uk title too.

3rd Stephenson’s CH Kamgaard Kyffin for Brawdor. Dark mask & eyes with slightly wide set ears, looked longer in body standing next to the previous 2 but again he’s still young and has maturing to do, he has a beautiful clear colour with a well set tight central tail, correct angulation throughout and well muscled, moved well.

VD 3

1st Tress’s Ch Grasilva Little Rock Avec Gilkaro. 11 years old if you would believe it! Handsome wedge head & dark eyes, neat well set ears and a beautiful clear colour. A super square boy, short in loin with a well set tight tail. Correct easy movement. BVIS

2nd Stephenson’s Norvin Marvel of Brawdor. A 7 year old with a good wedge head and neat dark ears & eyes. Square, short in loin a tight tail and well muscled, rather wide in front but single tracked in rear.

3rd Stephenson’s Bowerhinton Bangalore at Brawdor VW. 11 years old and certainly gave his handler a hard time today. Dark ears & eyes although somewhat rounded than ideal, good coat with clear harness markings and a tight tail, movement was hard to assess as he bounced round the ring enjoying himself!

MPB 1

1st Shield’s Lochlannach A Bhean Uasa. 7 months old and litter sister to the MPD, pretty feminine head with a dark mask, ears slightly light it correctly set, short on losing and square in body with good length of leg, tight tail and a good colour, movement needs to settle a bit.

JB 2

1st Tress’s Treskha Veuve Clicquot. 14 months. Beautifully dark eyes, mask and ears if a little large at the moment, the shortest of loins but also quite short in rib currently. On the move she was a little wide in front but had the correct rear convergence. She has the clearest of coats and everything else is perfectly in place, I look forward to seeing her grow!

2nd McMahon’s Seasara Kerfuffle. Dark mask and ears, movement was ok once settled but a little over angulated in her rear. Well set tail and a good close jacket but colour could be clearer.

PGB 2

1st Haugstad’s Skogly Vinny Vivi Vidi. The squarer of the 2 girls today, nice wedge head with dark mask and neat ears. Good clear coat colour and a well set tail. Exuberant mover!

2nd Shield’s Kamgaard Kast a Spell for Lochlannach. Slightly longer cast that 1 and could do with losing some weight which did affect her movement, however her angulation is all good and she’s well muscled, I look forward to seeing her regain her pre litter weight!

LB 3 (1ab)

1st McMahon’s Frigg Pride of North via Seasara (imp Pol) A 2 year old who has improved with age, she has a dark mask and ears although they could be a touch smaller. Nice clear colouring with good angulation fore & aft and a well set tail.

2nd Haugstad’s Skogly’s Kamerican Vika. A lovely square girl with a well set tail and nice clear colouring, she certainly liked her own voice and gave her handler a hard time resulting in movement being hard to assess.

OB 4 (2ab)

A mother and daughter with little between them!

1st Tress’s Treskha Tanqueray. Litter sister to my DCC. She has lovely dark eyes, mask and ears (if a touch large) correct angulation throughout giving her the best movement of the bitches, short in loin and well muscled with a tight tail and clear coat which she was losing! BCC

2nd Tress’s Treskha Just The One. A bitch I have always liked but sadly she wasn’t being easy for her stand in handler, she has the better colour of the 2 with a beautiful feminine wedge head with dark ears and eyes, short in loin with good angles but unfortunately just not the front movement of her daughter today. RBCC

VB 3 (1ab)

1st McHugh, Simmonds & Mott. AM Ch Kamgaard Kounterpoint (imp USA) slightly longer cast than 2nd but she won the class on her movement, good dark eyes and ears, clear in colour with good moderate angles, tail slightly loose.

2nd Hennessey’s Bowerhinton Bombette VW. On the stand she presents a lovely square profile, short in loin, clear in colour, good tail set and the correct size however on the move she was auditioning for river dance, not the movement I have seen her achieve but judging the dog on the day I had to give her second, she was certainly enjoying herself!

Brace 4 (1ab)

1st Haugstad’s. Well they waited till their last class to put in their best performance so it had to be awarded! A well matched pair!

2nd Tress’s. Another well matched pair who moved in unison

3rd Shield’s. Father & daughter in their first brace class, moved very well together!!

Team 2 (1ab)

Tress’s. 3 generations! A grandfather, Daughter Granddaughter combination who moved so well round the ring together!
