PD (2,1)

1. Pennie’s Talisman of Seven Oaks. Promising fawn pup of 8 mths. Excellent outline and balance and good for size. Muscular neck which is slightly arched, excellent through the topline, good depth to chest for age, obviously ribbing still developing, muscular loin and tail pleased for set and carriage. Masculine head of good proportions but not yet fully developed; breadth to skull, expressive eyes of good colour, ears set on high, muzzle of correct length to balance and excellent dentition. I liked his angulation front and rear and he stands on good feet. On the move, he has plenty of drive in the rear and extended well on the go around. Best Puppy.

OD (3,1)

1. Graham’s Savarow Adonis at Odextin. Two good ones challenged here, although somewhat different to one another. This 2 yr old fawn came out on top on the day. Substantial lad of excellent type. Strong, muscular neck, pleasing topline, excellent ribbing, good depth to chest, broad well-muscled loin and tail correct for set, length and carriage. Impressive head with broad skull, expressive eyes of good colour, ears set on well, excellent stop, short muzzle of good breadth and depth. Good angles both ends, standing on good feet and well developed in forechest. Gaiting very well on the go around with such good drive and extension. Best Dog & BOB.

2. Burgoine & Nicholas’ Ch Hallberd Finbar. Dark brindle of 5 years and one I have done well for previously. All male, carrying such good bone and substance, he presented a super outline with moderately long neck, excellent topline, deep brisket, first class ribbing and tail pleased for both set and carriage. Balanced headpiece with good breadth all through, dark expressive eyes placed wide apart in the skull, ears set on high, good stop and correct dentition. He stands well naturally in front and has excellent feet. Gaiting freely coming and going and although he goes well when viewed in profile, winner had the edge today. Reserve Best Dog.

SBD/B (3,1)

1. McElroy-Johnson & McElroy’s Hallberd Jade at Clanalcluith. 17 mth old brindle bitch who appealed for type and carries good bone but is rather raw right now. Muscular neck which is slightly arched, topline to firm, rib developing nicely and tail correct for set and carriage. Feminine head with pleasing breadth to skull for age, expressive eyes, ears set on well and good stop. Pleasing angulation front and rear and she stands on nice tight feet. On the move she was very good coming towards and went pretty well on the go around. Best Special Beginners.

2. McElroy-Johnson & McElroy’s Shadowgate’s Shall Not Pass at Clanalcluith. 7 mth old fawn bitch who is very much a baby. Slightly arched neck of correct length to balance, firm topline, ribbing still to develop as you would expect and tail correct for length, set and carriage. Pleasing head proportions but head still to break and therefore skull could have more breadth, pleasing eye and ear, correct stop and mouth. She also needs to broaden all through and although she stands on good feet she can stand a touch untidy right now. When gaiting, she went well enough on the go around but is somewhat closer going away.

PB (2,0)

1. Graham’s Shadowgate I’m A Survivor. 7 mth old fawn who I see is litter sister to the girl who placed second in the previous class and who also came second here. This girl is more advanced than her sister and shows much promise. Excellent neck, firm backline, ribbing developing as it should, breadth to loin and tail is correct for set and carriage. Feminine headpiece with good skull to muzzle proportions, dark expressive eyes which are placed well apart, ears set on high, good stop, depth to muzzle and good dentition. She is well off for bone and I liked her angulation both ends. Standing true in front on very good feet and when gaiting, she was true coming towards and pleased on the go around too. Best Bitch.

2. McElroy-Johnson & McElroy’s Shadowgate’s Shall Not Pass at Clanalcluith

JB (4,1)

1. Bowdery & Nicholas’ Morganlefay Naughty Girl. Quite a varied class with 3 very different young bitches present. This 12 mth old fawn took the class but she still has a lot of maturing to do, however she has the frame and just needs to fill it. She pleased in outline with moderately long neck, is firm in topline and her tail is correct for both set and carriage. Balanced head with feminine expression; pleasing breadth to skull, eyes are placed well apart in the skull, ears set on high and good stop. She is nicely angulated front and rear and stands on very good feet. Pleasing action all through and displayed good extension in profile. Reserve Best Bitch.

2. West’s Womlu Cherrylicious at Wilbears. 15 mth old fawn who is heavier all through than the winner but wasn’t quite as settled. Strong, muscular neck, pretty good through the topline, good depth to chest, well sprung ribbing and tail correct for length, set and carriage. Nicely proportioned head with good breadth of skull, ears set on well and eyes placed wide apart but overall preferred expression of winner. Pleasing angles both ends but not standing quite as well as 1 in front, however when gaiting, she went pretty well all through.

3. McElroy-Johnson & McElroy’s Hallberd Jade at Clanalcluith
