I’d like to thank the officers and committee for the opportunity to award CCs at Bath, to my well-equipped steward, Ruth Waller, and to the exhibitors for their entries. It was an enjoyable day going over all the dogs. I was hoping to find typical Welsh Springer Spaniels [not just red and white spaniels] built for endurance and hard work - displaying merriness, plenty of push and drive - which I am happy to say I did and this is reflected in my placings.

Head of good proportions, lovely soft expression, with pleasing eye shape. Strong neck into well laid-back shoulders. Correct rear angulation. Straight mover both ways [BV]

Head of balance proportions, good stop. Pleasing eye and expression. Strong neck, well laid-back shoulders and good length of upper arm. Ample rear angulation and pleasing overall outline. Positive mover, covering the ground well

Balanced head, nice expression. Good shoulders and upper arm. Stands on good feet, has correct moderate rear angulation. Straight mover both ways, keeping topline on the move with good tail carriage, not too high or low

2ND 2895 - Santallina Coroebus JW (Mr A G & Mr R Johnson & Langley)

Nice head, but would prefer a little more work. Good length of neck, pleasing side profile, matching moderate front and rear angulation, making balanced appearance. Moved well, but preferred topline of 1 on the move.

Nice head and expression, and good eye shape. Strong neck and good feet. Quite excitable, playing his handler up, making assessing him rather challenging and unfortunately this also make him loose his top line on the move

Lovely head and expression, with good work in head. Strong neck and well-placed shoulders. Matching front and rear angulation. Ample bone and good tail carriage. Covered the ground well, but just a tad close behind today when allowed to go too quickly

2ND 2890 - Merchinetes Padrig (Mrs A & Mr T Griffiths)

Balanced head proportions with a pleasing soft expression. Good neck and well angulated shoulders with a good topline. Did not move as well as 1 today [BSB]

Strong boy with substance and bone. Masculine head of good proportions and pleasing expression. Strong neck, well laid-back shoulders and a balanced outline. Excellent mover, covering the ground well.

2ND 2896 - Glenbrows Erasmus for Gilpeta (Mr P & Mrs G Johnstone)

Strong in head. Good length of neck into fairly well laid-back shoulders. Balanced outline in profile with matching front and rear angulation. Lacked a little enthusiasm on the move today

Correct lovely proportioned head with a super soft expression. Clean strong neck, good bone and feet. Well placed shoulders and correct matching front and rear angulation. Ground covering action, straightest of movers going away and coming back. Immaculately turned out and oozes presence in profile and on the move [DCC]

2ND 2889 - Sh Ch Nyliram Born This Way JW (Mrs J Graham)

Pleasing balanced head with lovely eye shape and work below the eyes, giving a super expression. Strong neck into well placed shoulders and ample rear angulation. Stands on good bone and tight feet. Covered the ground well with enthusiasm [RDCC]

Pleasing feminine head with lovely expression. Good neck and lay back of shoulders. Well boned and matching front and rear angulation making her balanced to the eye in profile. Also so balanced on the move for one so young [BP]

2ND 2882 - Rubydown Summer Joy (Mr C V & Mrs F S L Dixon)

Pleasing proportions in head, good neck into well placed shoulders and enough rear angulation, good tail set. Was a little lively initially today, but once settled showed balance on the move.

Covered the ground well and when on the move pleasing tail action, always lashing neither too high or too low [RBCC]

Pleasing head and expression. Strong bone, good substance and fore chest. Strong neck into well placed shoulders. Matching front and rear angulation giving a balanced appearance. Moved well, but had to be quite nit-picky here and just preferred hind movement of 1

Well boned without being overdone. Shows off the topline you’d hope to see in a WSS. Super mover going away and coming back, covering the ground with ease [BCC, BOB]
