Poodle (Standard)

As our designated ring was running considerably behind, our ring was changed in the hope that the BOB Standard Poodle could make the Utility Group. I would therefore, like to thank Natalie Grigg and Meg Rodgers my Stewards, for assisting the show officials and myself in ensuring that the BOB made the Group Ring. I had some lovely Standard Poodles to judge, particularly the youngsters, which bodes very well for the future.

VD (2 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: Munro’s Magin Blowing A Gayle. 7 years. Presented in fine order. Lamb Trim coat. Head is long in shape, with enough chin. Dark almond shaped eyes. Low set ears. Overall of moderate angulation. Clean, straight front, good forechest and well ribbed. Strong neck; OK for shoulder placement. Moved strongly with ample drive from well angulated hindquarters. 

MPD (5 Entries) Abs: 2

1st: O'Higgins’s Jasenak Royal Whisper At Sarnia (Imp Srb) RAF TAF. 8 months. Super black coat. Overall of super pigmentation. Long refined head contains dark well shaped eyes. Well bodied; strong topline. Moved soundly and with confidence displaying a really impressive carriage. Lovely personality. BPIB.

2nd: McCracken’s Altalune Mack The Knife. 8 months. Not as mature in body or coat as 1. Notwithstanding, pleasing head for age, containing appealing eyes; good dentition. Moved true with typical carriage once he got his act together. 

3rd: Angliss’s, Volgarus Stormbreaker.

JD (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Mitchell’s Afterglow Amadeus. 15 months. Black. He has a handsome head with correct chiselling and beautiful, dark, well-placed eyes. Low-set ears. Good dentition. Lengthy neck and well-balanced front angulations. Well-bodied; deep chest and short back; tight oval feet. Hindquarters have well-bent stifles. Beautifully presented jacket, and from the offset it was clear he had a great rapport with his handler. So free and accurate on the move. Clearly one to watch. Reserve CC.

LD (3 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Wheeler’s Montravia Imitation Game. 4 years. Eye-catching, balanced and well built, with a well ribbed compact body and excellent length of neck. Good head and expression. Well-laid shoulders and good rear angulation, all demonstrating balanced construction. Well placed tail. A quality dog of good breed type, producing an impressive, silhouette on the stand. Moved effortlessly with reach and drive. 

2nd: Rumming’s, Druavella Purple Finan. 3 years. Black, substantially built, so out of a larger mould than 1, but presents a pleasing picture being so typical. Presented in a good, harsh coat. Nicely balanced head; good reach of neck and cleanly laid shoulders. I liked his personality. Very well handled. 

3rd: Lawton’s Sarnia Love Me Tender With Abbeydale.

OD (5 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Downes’s Royaldeniz Superwolverine JW. 3 years. White, presented in immaculate condition and possessing the quality, balance and presence that immediately attracts. He has an excellent overall outline which contains a proportioned masculine head, dark, expressive eyes and excellent pigment which add to his appeal. On the stack, he presents a lovely picture, with a super lay of shoulder, strong, short back and well-developed body. He comes alive on the move, covering the ground with purpose. His reach and drive being most impressive. A consummate showman, exceptionally well presented and a genuine pleasure to watch. CC & BOB. 

2nd: Brook’s Ch Sculbrook Raising The Odds JW. 2 years. A worthy Champion being extremely well handled and presented. He is impressive in outline. Long well chiselled foreface and correct chin produces a pleasing, kind masculine expression. Long arched neck; short back, good body. Strong hindquarters, moves really well keeping his lovely outline and correct tail carriage. Not quite the forehand of 1. 

3rd: Barker’s Ch Montego Am I Kenough For Crystalar JW.

VB (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Moores & Speakman’s Onyx Demolition Through Ataraksia. A youthful, feminine Black, 7 years. Her attractive feminine head is well chiselled and contains beautiful dark eyes, well-defined chin and correct ear placement. Deep chest, and good for ribs. Well angulated forequarters complimented by strong hindquarters; well set tail. She moved with reach and drive and was presented to perfection. RCC & BVIB and delighted to learn she was later awarded Utility Veteran Group 4. 

2nd: Ratcliffe & Aikman’s, Samarcanda Very Bionda at Namkia. 8 years Presented in a pristine white coat of good texture. Feminine lengthy head gives a pleasing expression. Well placed neck; ok shoulders. Well bodied throughout, and of substance. Secure topline, held well on the move; correctly set tail. Steady, purposeful mover but not the forehand reach of 1 but nevertheless a very pleasing lady of quality.

MPB (3 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: Kumar’s Jasenak Red Carpet Girl At Viadua NAF TAF (Imp Serb). A lovely 7 months old baby I found quite endearing. She is ultra feminine; gorgeous head and expression. Pleasing body. Produces a lovely outline having such impressive proportions and good angles both ends. Moved impressively. 

2nd: Woodward’s Novatell Winter Serenade. 8 months and the more I saw the more I liked. Clearly not as forward as one in confidence but time will be on her side. Balanced and proportioned, her body is well ribbed. She moved very well. 

PB (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Dawson’s Kamarri Meant To Be With Achara. 10 months. Appealing puppy of lovely type. Beautiful head with excellent pigmentation gives a lovely expression. Her black coat is well-textured coat. Arched neck, well-laid shoulders, tight feet and short back. Good body with strong, well-angulated hindquarters. Excellent mover, with good angulations and drive. Very promising. 

2nd: Duke’s Shantallah Ophelia. 10 months. Another promising youngster and many of the same comments of 1 apply likewise. She was not quite together on the move and played her handler up but on the occasion she was settled, her movement was sound and accurate.   

JB (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Rumming’s Tafari The Shadow Khaleesi Under Druavella JW. 17 months and clearly out of the top drawer. I particularly admired her most attractive balanced head, of good length and lovely dark eyes. Her neck is well placed and of good length. Compact body; secure topline and she is well ribbed. Stands on good feet. Well-muscled rear, hocks well let down and super tail set and carriage. She moved with style. 

2nd: Kernick’s Hope Dreams Come Ture. Nicely made. 13 months. Balanced in profile. Feminine head of good proportions but preferred the expression of 1. Straight front. OK angles front and back. Well-proportioned body. Moved OK.

LB (3 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: Maloney’s Vicmar's Push Ahead. 3 years. Black. Well-handled to get the best out of her. She has a pleasing feminine head containing such a pretty head and eyes which I found most attractive. She has a thick, well-tailored coat. Super angulations and moved soundly in both directions. 

2nd: Woodward’s Kamarri Lookin Smart At Novatell JW. 2 years. Very impressive on the stand. Balanced and upstanding. I particularly admired her impressive head proportions. Stands on good feet. Lovely outline and forehand. Very well presented. Extremely close call. 

OB (2 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: Barker’s Ch Kamarri Let's Go Barbie To Crystalar JW. Mature for 2 years. She captivated my attention from the moment she entered the ring. Gorgeous head and expression, chiselled foreface, correct chin and dark well shaped eyes. Long crested neck. Presented in fabulous coat and condition. She possesses great character and projects an air of dignity on the move. Impeccably presented coat. BCC.
