GERMAN SHORTHAIRED POINTER

PUPPY DOG (1, 1 abs)

1 Bailey’s Central Pavey Ark.  

Promising youngster, well boned and with a clean outline. Liver and white ticked coat. Clean cut head, slightly rounded skull, kind expression. Ideal amount of fore chest for age, straight front, compact feet. Level top line, plenty of width between hind legs going away, straight movement coming towards, a bit erratic on the move, but he did enough for me to see his long stride in profile. He was a bit proud of his tail today, but at 8 months old he has plenty of time to settle. In the challenge for BP, I preferred the tail set of winner of PB, and she displayed steady and even ground covering stride.

1 Angus’ Edelmidpoint Native River through Calmerell JW.

Appealing outline and attractive head, muscular neck, adequately sloping shoulders, ideal width of chest, straight front, slightly sloping pasterns. Deep brisket, level top line, croup has gentle slope to correct tail set. Equal angulation fore and aft, rear pasterns short and strong. Moved out well with efficient stride, well handled.

2 Garvey’s Richtig Rahue JW.

Would like deeper back ribs and flanks need to fill in a little, but this male presented a balanced outline for length and height, equal angulation fore and aft, short back, level top line, well set on tail. Firm chest, nicely sprung ribs, strong hind quarters, good turn of stifle. Moved well for his proficient handler. Not in his best coat today.

1 Mann’s Sh Ch Elfrindew Endrick to Valger ShCEx. BD. BOB.

Quality dog, short back, ideal length of leg, stood over plenty of ground, well angulated fore and aft. Deep through brisket, well developed fore chest, well boned straight legs, compact feet with strong toes. Slight arch to clean neck, level top line, well ribbed back, good spring of rib, short coupled, depth through flank but still has correct slight tuck up. Loved his head, slightly rounded skull, muzzle in proportion, neat fitting lips, alert but kind expression. Coat in full bloom, evenly distributed. Smooth and athletic paces, very good forward reach and powerful drive from behind, in hard condition, fit, well muscled – a pleasure to watch him move. Expert handler had him standing just right every time I looked, he behaved well for his runner once settled.

2 Shepherd’s Orchidstar Full Speed Ahead. RBD.

A little longer in body than the winner, and coat not quite as good, but could not be denied his place here. Well shaped head, skull and muzzle in proportion. Reachy neck, sloping shoulders, deep through brisket and good length of leg. Well boned legs, close knit feet. Nicely sprung ribs, level top line and well set on tail. Pleasing muscle tone and looked good on the move, well handled.

VETERAN DOG (1, 0 abs)

1 Murray’s Winterwell Whakappa with Worlewood.

Clean cut head, obvious brows, kind expression, strong muzzle. Wider in chest than I would like, but has deep brisket and good spring of rib. Level top line, wide loin, slightly sloping croup, ideal tail set. Positive action going away, well angulated behind, straight hind legs. Sympathetically handled, although I would have liked to see him move out more.

PUPPY BITCH (3, 1 abs)

1 Barnes’ Kenbloom Mudraker BPIB.

Black and white ticked coat on this pretty female. Loved her head, skull balanced nicely with muzzle, ears well set on, soft expression from kind eye. Lengthy neck, pleasing depth of brisket, ideal width of chest, elbows nicely tucked in. Well sprung ribs, long rib cage and short loin, correct bend of stifle, A bit bum high at the moment, but I am sure this is a growing phase. Impressive muscle tone throughout, very well handled. Won here on smooth, free flowing paces.

2 Hill’s Orchidstar Ruby Sunday 11 mths

This liver and White ticked female stood over a lot of ground, she was longer in loin than 1st and her front still needs to tighten, but time is on her side at 11 months. Plenty of width of chest, well boned straight legs, slightly sloping pasterns, compact feet. Liked her head and proportionate length of neck, well sprung ribs, gentle slope of croup to tail, solid backend. Active on the move, but I just preferred the smoother paces of 1st. Well handled.

JUNIOR BITCH (2, 0 abs)

1 Wilkinson’s Zarozinia Carn Tuile 16 mths. BB.  

Won here on excellent forward reach and powerful drive from hind quarters, covered the ground efficiently with smooth paces. Excellent sloping shoulders, elbows neatly tucked in, shape of rib cage allowed freedom of movement of front legs, well turned stifles. Pleasing proportions throughout, short back, ideal length of leg, stood over plenty of ground, lengthy neck, deep through brisket, straight front, well boned legs. Attractive head, hazel eye with kind expression, strong muzzle, neat lips. Liver and white ticked coat with correct coarse texture.

2 Brown & Filby’s Desjiem Rebel Rebel (AI) JW.

Lacked some strength in hindquarters, tended to crouch a bit, slope of croup rather steep to tail set. Feminine head with clean outline, ears set on well and hung close to cheeks. Nice width and depth of chest, elbows tucked in, strong bone, slightly sloping pasterns, firm feet. Well sprung ribs, short loin, very good turn of stifle, at 17 months has plenty of time to deepen through flank. Didn’t move out too well today.

POST GRADUATE BITCH (2, 0 abs)

1 Blair’s Amblairfield Flymaamlewan.

Won this class on her excellent forward reach and strong rear drive – really moved out well and was a joy to watch. Liver and white ticked coat in good condition, well muscled throughout. Skull of medium breadth, pleasing ear set, kind eye, proportionate length of neck. Deep chest and neat elbows, ribs behind elbows allowed for ease of movement of front legs. Broad hindquarters, strong thighs, very good bend of stifle. Well handled.  

2 Bliss’ Millie’s Meg.

Solid liver coloured, excellent bone, short coupled and very good spring of rib, correct tail set. Equal angulation fore and aft, deep chest of good width, sloping shoulders and plenty of turn of stifle, straight legs all round. Didn’t make the best of herself on the stack, tended to lean back, in spite of her patient handler’s best efforts to place her front feet correctly. Sometimes paced on the move, but she was straight going away and coming back. Sympathetically handled.

1 Brown & Filby’s Winterwell Thatlldo for Desjiem JW Sh CEx OSW. RBB.

Liver and white ticked coat evenly distributed and with correct coarse texture. Nicely constructed throughout, nothing overdone, moved freely on well boned legs and strong feet. Scored well on feminine clean cut head of balanced proportions with pretty features, good length of neck, plenty of depth through brisket, straight front, pleasing angulation fore and aft, well sprung ribs. Unfortunately she tended to stand with her back legs too far under herself, and this spoiled her outline. 

2 Stewart’s Magregor Take It All Off Levagrad JW, NLD JCH, NLD jw25.

Stood over plenty of ground, lengthy neck, deep chest, deep ribs, firm loin with correct slight tuck up, level top line, well set on tail. Broad hind quarters, good bend of stifle, firm thighs. Slightly wider in chest than I would like, and elbows a bit untidy, preferred front assembly of 1st. Effortless stride, covered plenty of ground, very well handled.

Very nicely made 7 and a half year old who stood over a lot of ground on well boned legs and firm, well shaped feet. Clean cut head, appealing expression from kind eye, clean cheeks. Lovely reach of neck, pleasing forequarters, ideal width of chest, deep brisket. Straight front, slightly sloping pasterns. Nice bend of stifle and well muscled hind quarters. Has a great rapport with her handler, I just would have liked to see her moved a bit faster and stride out more.   

GERMAN WIREHAIRED POINTER

PUPPY DOG (1, 1 abs)

1 Vine & Hassell’s Urvum Hero at Beanalrem (imp ITA). RBD. BPIB. Puppy Gundog Group 1.   

This 10 month old youngster impressed me as soon as he entered the ring. Well boned and powerful, slightly longer than tall, a great showman, and very well handled. Attractive head with balanced properties, strong neck of good length, sloping shoulders, long upper arm, firm and level back, well sprung ribs. Broad hindquarters, strong thighs, nice bend of stifle. He covered plenty of ground on the move, but he was rather exuberant today, I would prefer a smoother stride, I am sure this will come with maturity and as he settles more into his job in the ring. JUNIOR DOG (2, 0 abs)

Preferred angulation of 1st, but 2nd had a better coat.

1 Cuthill’s Caldewriver Kong Quest.   

Just into Junior at 12 months of age, this youngster was a nice shape and was well angulated, was deep through brisket and had good width across thigh. Liked his head, slightly rounded skull, muzzle in proportion and had ideal depth and width, attractive eyebrows and beard. Excellent bone and good feet, moved well when settled, sympathetically handled. Would prefer a more dense coat.

2 Drew’s Wiremoor Oryx.   

Very slightly older black and white coloured, excellent coat offering adequate protection. Masculine head with deep muzzle and kind eye, well developed chest, excellent bone, round feet. Deep body, well sprung ribs, level top line and well set on tail. Preferred the slightly better angulation of 1st.

POST GRADUATE DOG (2, 0 abs)

Both liver and white.  

1 Simpson’s Ovetil Class Act.

A kind natured dog who won this class on more balanced angulation and was steadier on the move. Really well handled, they have a great rapport. Moderate stop, kind eye, full beard. Ideal width of chest, ribs with good spring, but rib cage could be deeper. Topline continues smoothly to tail set. Steady, ground covering stride, was straight coming and going. Has enough bend of stifle, but handler please watch, sometimes when he stood he looked as though he was rather straight in stifle.

2 Gloudman’s Reajeager Stieg.

Well boned and had lovely reach of neck and well laid back shoulders. Masculine head, slightly more stop than 1st, but head balanced and in proportion to the rest of him. Pleasing width of chest, straight front, level top line and good tail carriage. Very well handled. Would prefer more bend of stifle.

OPEN DOG (5, 3 abs)

1 Shepherd’s Kimmax Kallin Danny Boy Over. BD.

Quality masculine head on this black and white dog. Proportionate and well shaped, slightly rounded skull, good length and depth of muzzle, attractive furnishings, alert expression. Super bone, straight front and compact forward facing feet. Plenty of depth of body, impressive rib cage for spring and length, used his tail well. Broad and strong hindquarters, adequate coat. Sound and accurate on the move, but when deciding BOB, I preferred the reach and drive of winner of BB.

2 Simpson’s Ovetil Troseberry.

Head was more gentle than 1st, although was still masculine, attractive hazel eyes. Coat in general was not as good as 1st but had a full beard and typical bushy eyebrows. Pleasing slope of shoulders, stifles with equal merit, well muscled hind quarters, plenty of width across thighs. Deep chest, just about a hand’s width, ribs sprung out well, rib cage had good length and depth. Well shaped feet, but front legs could be straighter. Did not have the accurate footfall behind as others in the entry did today.

1 Cuthill’s Caldewriver Monkey Bizz. 12 mths

Impressive on the move, has natural carriage and powerful paces. Feminine, robust, strong. Lengthy neck, very good front assembly, lovely slope of shoulder and return of upper arm, straight front, tight feet, well arched toes. Impressive long rib cage, short loin. Broad hind quarters with good muscle tone, excellent bend of stifle. Thick coat with harsh feel, dense undercoat, expertly handled.

POST GRADUATE BITCH (2, 0 abs)

Both liver and white. 1st scored well on length of coat and more toned body condition.

1 Simpson’s Ijildez vom Holstef at Ovetil (imp SVK).

Strong throughout and with balanced outline, good length of neck, deep brisket, level back with smooth line to set on of tail. In hard condition and this showed on the move, impressive paces, she covered the ground well with great forward reach and powerful drive from behind, pleasing tail carriage. Attractive head and furnishings, well shaped skull, muzzle to match, kind eye. Straight front, well boned legs, compact feet, very well handled.

2 Hogg’s M Frivilje at Cappercleugh.

Happy and attentive to her very able handler. Would have preferred slightly more angle of shoulder, although had very good bend of stifle. Deep chest, adequate bone, slightly sloping pasterns. Level back, well sprung ribs, broad hind quarters. Carrying a little too much weight today    

OPEN BITCH (2, 0 abs)

1 McCullough’s Sh Ch Kimmax Kindly Stand Black. BB. BOB.

Excelled in balance of angulation, length, depth and spring of ribs, quality bone and strong feet. Felt really good to go over, was fit, well muscled and had a harsh coat texture with dense undercoat. Lovely head, fairly broad skull, dark hazel eye, kind expression, strong muzzle, neat lips, attractive furnishings. Deep through brisket, ideal width of chest, broad hind quarters, pleasing bend of stifle, plenty of width across thigh. Very pleasing to watch her steady, even stride, great forward reach and powerful drive from behind, accurate footfall and was straight away and back. Well handled, together they make a great team.  

2 O’Brien’s Sh Ch Caldewriver Storm N’ Teacup for Katillien. RBB.

Close up to 1st, coat of a shorter length all over, didn’t feel quite as harsh as 1st, although covered the skin well. She was also in hard condition, was well handled, and moved powerfully with drive. Impressive shoulder angulation and very good bend of stifle, well boned straight front. Displayed loyal temperament, was attentive to her handler.  

VETERAN BITCH (1, 0 abs)

1 Shepherd’s Kimmax Klean Sweep. BVIB.

Difficult to believe she is 9 years old, in lovely condition, a credit to her owner. Feminine head with appealing expression, full beard and bushy eyebrows add to her character. Enough bone for a female, straight front, excellent spring of rib, good length of rib and short strong deep loin, correct tail set, used her tail well on the move, nice hind angulation. Full black and white protective coat.

All were clean and beautifully presented. All had healthy eyes, ears and skin.

1 Nesbitt’s Creeaark Austin Healey from Chabrouille ShCEx. BD. BOB.

Stood out here for strength, balance, equal angulation, and good length of rib allowing for a firm back and plenty of heart room. Longer overall than height, quality masculine head, large and refined and with balanced properties, in profile skull and muzzle had the shape of two rectangles. Good length of neck, impressive shoulders with good length of blade, well placed and sloping, deep chest, straight front, short well boned legs. Positive top line, well sprung ribs, strong loin and deep through flank. Hind quarters with equal merit to the fore quarters, lovely bend of stifle. Was a joy to watch on the move, his stride was effortless and accurate, he carried his tail well.

2 Nicholson, Nicholson & Risk’s Knockhalon Spooktacular of Taranstigh. RBD.

Slightly shorter in rib that 1st, and was not quite as well angulated. Top line not as firm, this possibly due to his ratio of slightly shorter rib to extra length in loin. Built on finer lines, but still obviously a male, broad skull, delightful expression showing great character, would have preferred slightly more strength to muzzle. Straight front, large round feet, deep chest and pleasing spring of rib, low set tail, short strong hind pasterns which he used to drive round the ring. Well handled.

1 Nixon’s Knockhalon Put A Spell On You at Glenbruetti. BB. BOS.

My notes said similar to 2nd in OD and afterwards I discovered they are full siblings! In profile she was correctly longer than height, had a deep body and well sprung ribs, she was deep through flank. Feminine head, broad skull, obvious occiput and plenty of stop, pretty expression. Well muscled neck of good length, equal angulation fore and aft, tail well set on, round feet well covered with hair. First class presentation, very attentive to her able handler. In the challenge for BOB I preferred the balance of head of the Dog.    

2 Nixon’s Stonielea William’s Charm at Glenbruetti. RBB.

Feminine head and excellent angulation impressed me greatly. Skull and muzzle in proportion, kind and thoughtful expression from well shaped eye. Good length of neck to well placed shoulders, deep chest, deep rib cage, well ribbed back, firm loin, very good angulation behind, short strong hind pasterns. Just would have preferred a more definite scissor bite.

1 Westwood & McDonald’s Eusanit Moment Of Clarity among Roanjora. BP. RBD.    

Very promising nearly 7 month old. Appealing head and expression, wedge shaped head gradually tapering to nose, tight fitting lips. Alert and honest expression from kind eye. Good length of neck, well angulated shoulders, ideal width of chest, elbows neatly tucked in, straight front, strong bone, tight feet and thick pads. Pleasing shape of rib cage, hind quarters with equal merit to the fore quarters. Covered the ground with ease and with correct low head carriage, quality coat. The BPB scored on more positive top line at this stage in development.

1 Van Eijk’s Tollerways Algiz Baloo. BD. BOS.

Well coated and moved with brisk action, covered the ground well, active and powerful. Attentive, alert and kind, used his ears well, he must be a joy to own. Well boned legs and round tight feet, he naturally placed his feet correctly every time, and he stood foursquare. Pleasing rib cage, deep body and well let down flank, plenty of width of thigh and nice bend of stifle. Very well handled, together they make a great team. In the challenge for BOB I just preferred the overall balance of outline and slightly more compact body of the BB.

Impressive, and not far off 8 years old. Clean cut masculine head, tapering muzzle in balance with slightly rounded skull, ears well set on, appealing expression, friendly and alert. Well muscled, powerful, in hard condition, typical springy gait, accurate footfall, used his tail well. Pleasing lay of shoulder and well bent stifles, level top line, quality bone, webbed feet. Deciding factor in the challenge for BD was slightly longer in hind pasterns, and therefore not quite as positive going away. Very well handled.

1 Heap’s Eusanit Incognito. BPIB.    

Appealed greatly. Attractive feminine head, alert expression, compact outline, promising angles fore and aft, good coat. Well set on neck, plenty of depth of body, lovely spring of rib, firm level back, short loin. Strong bone, straight front, slightly sloping pasterns, very neat feet. Once settled she looked good on the move, good reach in front and drive from behind. She needs more practice at allowing her teeth to be examined, but she’s not yet 7 months old, and has lots of time to learn her job.

Balanced body properties and quality double coat attracted me to this feminine 15 month old. She was alert and used her ears well, has correct almond shaped eyes, although eye colour could be a shade darker. Straight front, excellent angulation fore and aft, impressive rib cage for spring, depth and length, short loin, firm top line, used her tail well. Preferred the more definite scissor bite of 1st today.

POST GRADUATE BITCH (4, 0 abs)

1 Dalton’s Rosettia Lady Marmalade. RBB.

Loved her shape and balance. She was well constructed, and stood foursquare with everything in the right place. Really well turned out, beautifully schooled, skillfully handled. Clean cut head, fairly broad skull, strong muzzle, well developed nostrils, lovely attentive expression, intelligent and alert. Pleasing length of neck, straight front, quality bone, very tidy feet. Level top line, impressive rib cage, very nice stifles. Hind legs were parallel from behind, moved with power and drive.

2 Craig’s Scalpsie Force Awakens.

Built on slightly finer lines than 1st. Excellent double coat, pleasing body properties, equal angulation fore and aft, compact outline. Ideal width of chest, elbows neatly tucked in against body, well sprung ribs, but would have liked rib cage to be a tad longer, broad and strong across thighs, was able to drive well from behind. Preferred length of neck, and slightly stronger muzzle of 1st.  

3 Westwood & McDonald’s Eusanit What The Fuggle Roanjora JW.

A pleasure to watch the typical jaunty movement of this handy sized female, plenty of forward reach and strong drive from behind, accurate footfall, nice straight legs coming and going. Attractive outline, balanced and compact, good length of neck to positive top line, short loin, ideal tail set, deep brisket, pleasing length of leg to depth of body ratio. Strong hind quarters, plenty of width across thigh, well turned stifles, short hind pasterns which were parallel from behind. Attractive shape of head, feminine and wedge shaped, slightly rounded skull and complimentary muzzle. Excellent coat, medium length top coat, dense weather resistant undercoat. She responded well to her sympathetic handler, who was gentle and kind.
