Chesterfield Canine Society Premier Open Show – 2nd May 2026

Firstly, a massive thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge at a fantastic show. The volunteers and committee put on a great show and create a wonderful atmosphere all around the showground.

IRISH SETTER

Junior (1,2)

1st – Shepherd’s: Casachared Mr Delaneys Son

16 month old dog who is still maturing. Masculine head with a kind expression and presented a pleasing overall outline. balanced throughout. Moved with drive and purpose. A happy youngster who should continue to develop well.

Post Graduate (1,0)

1st – Harrison’s: Clonageera Summer Dreams at Millpoint JW

Lovely 2 year old bitch who appealed for her overall balance and raciness. Correct head with refined features. Muscular neck into well laid shoulders, straight topline with a gentle slope. Full of character and enjoying herself throughout, keeping her handler on their toes but never detracting from her performance. Moved freely with good drive. BOB

1st – Jarvis’: Lowdon To Darn Hot

7 year old dog of pleasing breed type with a masculine head and balanced outline. He couldn’t quite settle on the move today, perhaps affected by the warm conditions. Nevertheless, a happy dog who showed well for his handler.

POINTER

I thought the overall quality of the entry was very good. I’m not too sure if it was because it was the first outdoor show of the year for some people, it was also unexpectedly hot this day, however some of dogs did struggle to demonstrate drive today, something I know these particular dogs have in spadefuls. 

Puppy (1,1)

1st – Harrison’s: Millpoint Endless Love

Happy 10 month old bitch who was a pleasure to go over. Feminine throughout with a pleasing head and expression and good overall balance for her age. Presented in good condition and moved smoothly with good drive, covering the ground well. A promising youngster who should have a bright future. Delighted to award her BPIB and BOB.

Junior (1,1)

1st – Saunders & Newton’s: Corotine Velvet Tuxedo

13 month old dog with a masculine, well chiselled head and pleasing expression. Well muscled throughout and presented a balanced outline. Moved well with purpose and showed a happy temperament throughout. An honest youngster with plenty to like.

Post Graduate (5,1)

1st – Weaver’s: Jilony Zelda

3 year old bitch of correct proportions. Feminine head with a pleasing expression and curved lines in all the right places. Balanced overall and presented in firm condition. Moved positively with good smooth action, maintaining her outline on the move

2nd – Pressley & Large’s: Sniperay Secret Service.

18 month old bitch with a lovely temperament. Pleasing feminine head. Solid throughout with a balanced and symmetrical outline, still maturing. Moved soundly enough but just lacked the purpose of the winner on the day. A promising youngster.

Open (5,1)

1st – Harrison’s: Millpoint Webley (RE-IMP)

Quality 2 year old dog presented in excellent muscular condition. Masculine throughout with a pleasing balanced outline. Moved soundly with good reach and drive, holding his shape well throughout. A happy dog who showed well for his handler.

2nd – Weaver’s: Dappleline Chance For Anniezu

Strong 6 year old dog with plenty of substance and excellent muscle. Very close decision between him and 1st place. He didn’t quite settle today and lacked the drive I know he is capable of, perhaps affected by the warm weather. Still, a quality dog with much to admire.

SPANIEL (AMERICAN COCKER)

1st – Clay & Dummett’s: Americlass Macchiato With Almondsbury

Merry 7 month old bitch who was full of character and never stopped wagging. Feminine throughout with a pleasing head and sweet expression. Well balanced for her age and moved freely, covering the ground with an easy, smooth stride. A happy youngster with plenty of promise. BPIB.

2nd – Clay & Beet’s: Americlass Americano With Thistlefinch

Litter sister to the winner and shared a lot of her virtues. Moved soundly and showed happily throughout, but just lacked the ground covering movement of 1st on the day.

1st – Dummett & Vikhrova: Nova Story Boogie Woogie

Quality 3 year old dog who appealed for his compact, balanced outline. Masculine head with a well chiselled appearance and pleasing expression. Presented in excellent condition and showed throughout with the merry temperament so typical of the breed. His movement was his strongest attribute, covering the ground with ease and showing a clean pair of rear pads moving away. BOB

1st – Rose’s: Plaiglen Raggtrade

Nearly 6 year old bitch who appealed for her honest breed type and balanced outline. Strong body with good ribbing and a firm, muscular loin. Stood on good bone and moved straight and true, covering the ground well whilst maintaining a level topline. A sound, honest bitch with nothing exaggerated. BOB

1st – Lewin’s: SH CH Santallina Olympic Flame Over Vynesbrook JW

Absolutely stunning 20 month old bitch who immediately caught my eye for her overall quality and balance. Feminine throughout with correct proportions, a pleasing head and lovely expression. Strong body with the slight arch over the loin. Moved with excellent reach and drive, holding her outline throughout. Full of breed character and a joy to go over. BOB

2nd – Wallington’s: Ferndel Renzo At Rovinjdal

3 year old dog of honest breed type with a pleasing outline and good overall proportions. It was the hottest part of the day during his class and he didn’t quite settle in the ring. Nevertheless, he showed enough quality to suggest there is much to like when more relaxed.
