The Royal Cheshire County Premier Open Show – 17th June 2026

Judge: Aarron Kehoe

I’d like to pass a huge thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge at a show which I’ve always been very fond of. The volunteers and committee put on a great event. I’d also like to thank the Lagotto Romagnolo Association for supporting my entry, as well as all the exhibitors who came out to let me go over their dogs.

LAGOTTO ROMAGNOLO

There were some lovely quality dogs today. However, some of the dogs were held back a little by their handlers, who couldn’t quite match the dog’s enthusiasm and efforts to drive, which made it a little more difficult to evaluate all of the dog’s movement.

Puppy (1,0)

1st – Lillicrap’s: Bedeslea Firecracker at Princhetts

Promising 7 month old bitch who is still very much a baby. Lovely temperament and a pleasure to go over. Feminine head with a pleasing expression and balanced overall for her age. Moved parallel coming and going with a free action. Still maturing, but she has plenty of time to develop. BPIB.

Junior (1,1)

1st – Cox’s: Amadar Wake Up Little Susie

15 month old compact bitch with plenty to like. Feminine throughout with a broad head, strong muzzle and correct proportions. Good neck into well laid shoulders with a correct topline gently sloping to a strong loin. Unfortunately, her handler couldn't quite allow her to settle into her free flowing stride today, which made her difficult to assess fully on the move. Nevertheless, there is much to admire and I'm sure with a little more ring experience she’ll be able to show herself off to her full potential.

Post Graduate (2,1)

1st – Dickenson’s: Shelanio in The Mood

18 month old bitch of pleasing breed type with a balanced outline. Feminine throughout with correct proportions and presented in good condition. Strong body with good substance without becoming overdone. Moved soundly and maintained her outline well on the move. A happy exhibit who just appealed more overall today. RBOB.

2nd – Langley’s: Nelbekio High Hopes of Shelanio

5 year old bitch with a typical outline for the breed and a lovely temperament. Wasn’t in the mood to show off her movement today, which affected her overall picture. Nevertheless, she showed happily throughout.

Open (3,1)

1st – Nelson’s: Mizani Dioro over Savio

Quality 9 year old dog who belied his years. Masculine throughout with a pleasing head and balanced outline. Presented in excellent condition with nothing exaggerated. Moved freely with excellent reach and drive, maintaining his topline throughout. His happy temperament and effortless movement secured him BOB.

2nd – Nelson & Snowdon’s: Rozebottel's Mario Tronti (Imp Nld)

3.5 year old dog of pleasing breed type with correct proportions and a balanced outline. Slightly smaller in frame than the winner but still presented a quality overall picture. On the move he appeared a little restricted behind today which prevented him from showing his usual free movement. Nevertheless, a quality dog with much to admire.
