Edwinstowe & District Canine Society Premier Open Show – 3rd April 2026

Judge: Aarron Kehoe

I’d like to thank the committee for inviting me to a fantastic, well run show. Also, thank you to the Italian Spinone Club of GB for sponsoring the classes and to the exhibitors who braved the crazy easter weekend traffic and were a great sport.

ITALIAN SPINONE

Puppy (2,1)

1st – Holt’s: Benevelo Stella Fortunata

A very nice 8 month old bitch. Feminine and squarely built, but still robust and well-muscled throughout, with a lovely kind expression and a super temperament. Correct head and skull proportions. Neck correct and set nicely into good strong shoulders. Correct topline, with no exaggerations. Well-muscled thighs. A surprisingly relaxed yet fast trot for such a young pup. Was considered for BOB and RBOB, excited to see how she develops. BPIB.

2nd – Wagh’s: Lucoru Fire and Ice for Dewdhala

Another cracking pup. 11 month old boy, maturing nicely. Clearly well exercised and had great muscle condition throughout. Correct head and neck into strong, well laid shoulders. Typical topline, deep chest and well-muscled thighs. On the day, just preferred the movement and outline of 1st place.

Post Graduate (5,1)

1st – Pugh’s: Gellini Special Edition

A 16 month old bitch who I’ve judged before as a puppy. She’s maturing into a lovely example of the breed with the correct proportions all over. Correct head proportions and Good length of neck flowing into a well constructed front and a firm back with correct rise over the loin. Deep ribs, well sprung and carried well back. On the move she was relaxed and free striding, covering the ground well and maintained her shape. Her temperament is lovely and she certainly knows how to keep her handler on their toes. BOB

2nd – Banks’: Dalebourne Kore

Nearly 4 year old bitch. Symmetrical and square in appearance, with a correct and typical topline. Deep chest with well sprung ribs. Didn’t put a foot wrong on the move, moved relaxed but brisk and carried her head just right.

Limit (1,1)

1st – Lea’s: Piccolonoce Vanilla Crunch

7 year old bitch, very affectionate. Skull and head proportions all proper and a correct typical topline, which she held on the move. Good bone throughout and presented in a robust and muscled condition. Coat dense and coarse. Managed to show a beautiful fast trot with good reach, for such a small ring. RBOB

Open (2,1)

1st – Pugh’s: Gellini Indian Moon

Good Proportions all over, presented a nice symmetrical, square outline. Lovely kind expression with a typical and correct head and skull. Forequarters were solid and well-muscled with nice angulation of the upper arm. Correct topline with deep chest and well sprung ribs, fantastically well-muscled thighs, in super condition. Moved powerful and correct with great purpose. I imagine she’d move like that all day.

2nd – James’: Sh Ch Inostricani Fianna ShCEx

Superb example. 6 year old bitch who took my eye when she first walked into the ring. Pleasing type and presented excellent overall balance. However, she wasn’t moving soundly on the day and I was therefore unable to reward her as her quality would otherwise merit.
