Scarborough DCA Open Show 28/06/26 Pastoral Breeds & Groups

I had a great day at this lovely show, really is one of the best with a hard working, welcoming committee. Thank you to the Society for the invitation to judge and an even bigger thank you to those who entered their dogs for me today. My 2 stewards were excellent, keeping things running well, thank you! 

Bearded Collie 

Puppy (1,0) 

1st Jenkinson’s Tybury’s Arya’s Legend For Ellishar - 9m, feminine all through. Correct outline. Nicely proportioned head with broad skull. Good length of rib with strong loin. Correct tail set and carriage. Lovely mover, balanced and sound all angles, showing reach and drive. BP & PG4 

Post Graduate (3,0) 

1st Jay’s Talraz Midnight Lady JW - 16m, very feminine with pretty head which is of good proportions. Dark eye. Great body condition. Typical outline. Balanced angles which shows on the move, strong top line, good reach & drive.

2nd Jellie’s Kiltondale Johnny Cash at Jellwell - 22m. Good size male. Nicely proportioned head, good width to skull. Good length of neck. Balanced angles. Well presented coat. Balanced movement. Close decision, just preferred 1 today on the move.

1st Winsor’s Roxilyn Smart As They Come - 10 yr male. Lovely temperament, masculine all through. Decent angles. Good length of leg. A bit longer in outline than other winners today. Enjoying his day, which made it difficult to assess movement, but appeared sound.

1st Peirson’s Ch Kiltondale Miley Cyrus JW - 22m female, instantly appealed for overall breed type, size and build. Feminine, lovely head with good width to skull & balanced muzzle, giving a super expression. Good length to neck into excellent front. Super body condition and presentation. Correct body proportions. Lovely mover, displaying appropriate reach and drive, effortless and moved at a good speed to show off her balance. BOB, Group 1. Over the moon to see she won BIS, congratulations. 

2nd Jenkinson’s Irisaddition Victorious With Ellishar JW - 3 yr female, another good one. Lovely breed type, correct outline and nice size. Appealing head which is well proportioned with typical expression. Good length to neck. Balanced angles. Sound mover, just not quite matching 1. RBOB

1st Donaldson’s Luavjan’s Moulin Rough (IMP ITA) - 2 yr female, square outline, good length to neck. Typical head with good length, correct almond eye and ears, alert expression. Balanced all through. Sound mover. BOB

1st Donaldson’s Revloch Shakira at Kelflyn (IKC) - 3yr female, good overall type. Square outline, moderate length to neck, strong top line. Lovely head properties. Balanced, although would prefer a tad more angulation. Sound mover. RBOB

1st Donaldson’s Revloch Kasanova (IKC) JW ShCM VW ShCEx OSW - 11 year old and a super example of the breed. Lovely typical outline. Excellent head properties, alert, correct set of ears. Good length to neck. Liked his overall size and build. Presented in great body condition. Balanced, moderate angles. Brisk mover. BOB

1st Atkin’s Esstremere Silver Storm - 16m male, nice outline and size. Lovely wedge head with sweet expression. Correct ear set. Balanced angulation. Lovely mover, sound all angles. 

2nd Fenton’s Shannmie’s Dark Arches - 3 yr male, decent outline, another with typical head properties and expression, correct ears. Nice to go over with balanced angles, moved out well. Difficult decision between the 2, just a tad more of him would have been ideal.

1st Parker’s Edglonian Prime Target with Tolarock - 3 yr lovely male of good size and substance. Typical head, sweet expression, clean wedge shape with ideal stop. Balanced angles. Well presented. Confident mover, who was well handled. RBOB

2nd Fenton’s Shanmie’s Cartier - 3 yr male, another of good size and typical outline. Decent head, nice eye and expression. Lovely length to neck into correct shoulder. Balanced and sound mover. Just not quite matching 1 on the move.

1st Chorlton’s Mohnesee Mr Charming - 23m male, I thought he was of lovely breed type, with a typical outline and good size and substance. Appealing head, nicely set ears of good size, enough stop. Presented very well, moved at a good speed. Balanced. Sound all angles. BOB

2nd Atkin’s Esstremere Lady Isobel - 5 yr female, another of good type. Lovely head and expression, good amount of stop, correct eye and ear. Strong neck of good length. Good body proportions. Sound all angles.

1st Brown’s Shepwood Gazing At Klouds JW - 3 yr female, nice outline. Nicely balanced head, decent width to skull, correct set eye. Balanced angulation. Firm top line. Good length to leg. Sound all angles. BOB

1st Brown’s Shulune Secret Storm Over Shepwood- 6 yr female, longer cast than limit winner. Heavier head, but decent proportions. Correct ears. Good depth to chest. Sound all angles. RBOB

1st Foster’s Fostebrie Eva Diva - just 6 months female. Lovely puppy with typical outline. Excellent neck and front. Pretty head, nicely proportioned. Moves out well, steady and balanced. Good length to tail with hook, carried low. Sure to have a great future ahead. BOB, BP, Puppy Group 3

1st Woodhead’s Novaskaya Yelena Lefay at Pashka - 2 year female, typical head, correct set ears, with almond eye and dark pigment. Balanced angles. Medium length of body with strong loin. Sound all angles with typical movement. RBOB

2nd Naylor’s Croftdougles Sassy Silleas at Karenshko - 2 yr female. different in type to 1. Good shape and medium length to body. Decent head properties. Balanced and sound mover.

1st Woodhead’s Nikara It’s Kamochi With Pashka - 2 yr male, lovely outline and length to leg. Appealing head, well proportioned, correct eye, dark pigment, well set ears. Nice balanced angles, moved really well today. Excellent presentation. BOB

All entered today were of good, consistent breed type. Unsurprising then to see nearly all are from the same kennel.

1st Naylor & Cudworth’s Skaijak’s Make N’Mayhem - 10m male, lovely puppy with a super cobby outline. Good length to leg. Medium size head, ideal proportions with slightly domed skull and evident furrow. Strong medium length of neck. Excellent front angles with nicely balanced rear. Typical mover, smooth and balanced. RBOB, BP & Puppy Group 1.

1st Naylor’s Borgakers Vi Ska Bada Bastu at Skaijak (IMP FIN) NAF TAF - 1 year, feminine throughout, of good size and substance. Balanced head, good width to skull, evident furrow, all coming together to give a typical expression. Well angulated. Maturing well in body. Good depth to chest. Sound mover all angles.

1st Naylor’s Skaijaks Last N’Luksurious - 2 yr female, typical outline. Lovely head properties, nicely proportioned between skull and muzzle, good eye, large nose, typical expression. Good length to neck, best front in the class. Rear angles balanced. Typical smooth mover. BOB & Group 3. 

2nd Crosier’s Skaijaks Kind N’Klassic - 3 yr female, cobby outline. Another with a typical balanced head, giving a lovely expression. Decent angles. Good body condition and proportions. Sound mover, just not quite the reach of 1.

1st Perkins’ Starjanda Major Tom - 10 months, lovely outline. Masculine in build and size. Strong head, good width to skull with strong muzzle. Good depth to chest. Balanced. Typical mover. BOB, BP

1st Mills’ Lemivee Connie’s Songbird - 11m female, lovely balanced wedge head, with ideal amount of stop, sweet expression, almond eye, correctly set ears. Balanced in construction. Correct body proportions. Typical mover in front and rear. Appealed for overall breed type. BOB, BP & PG2

1st Dodsworth’s Libanel Everlasting Charm with Sommerfugl- 4 yr male with good body to height proportions. Head in proportion to body, with nicely set almond eye, acceptable proportions. Decent enough angles. Sound mover. 

2nd Rose’s Beldones Clementine Avec Coloratura - 4 yr female, another with good outline. Did actually prefer the head of this one, it is of good proportions, ideal amount of stop, well set ears, almond eye. Good length across back with strong loin. 1st had the better movement coming and going.

1st Dodsworth & Carr’s Libanel Everlasting Dezire - 4 yr female, lovely merle colour, presenting a good outline and overall size. Decent head properties, wedge shaped with good amount of stop. Balanced construction. Sound movement all angles. Good coat and presentation. RBOB

2nd Rose’s Uffspring Ultravox For Coloratura - 6 yr female, another of good type, with pleasing head, nice proportions and good eye. Liked the length of neck. Balanced angles with sound movement, just not as easy moving as 1.

1st Fox’s Gowerston Granville - 3 yr male. Stood alone but very appealing male of lovely breed type. Masculine all through. Typical head with good set and size of ears. Strong across the back. Good length to leg. Well angulated. Handled at an appropriate speed, confident, striding out well and sound all angles. Liked him a lot. BOB & Pastoral Group 2.

1st Donaldson’s Revloch Kasanova (IKC) JW ShCM VW ShCEx OSW - Belgian Shepherd Dog (Groenendael) critique as per breed. Won this on overall super breed type. 

2nd Jay’s Ch Farmarens Drums Of Spring At Talraz (Imp SWE) JW - Bearded Collie 7yr male. Very close decision here. Lovely breed type and in excellent body condition. Typical head with good width to skull, balanced muzzle. Good length to neck. Excellent angles. Moved out really well. Not an easy decision between 1 and 2.
