01/01/2026

What a wonderful way to begin the new year. I sincerely thank the committee for the invitation to judge at this lovely show and to my very helpful stewards. Overall, I was pleased with my entry.

Minor Puppy

1st Citycroft Not My First Rodeo at Runforest

A young dog of obvious quality who immediately appeals for his balance, outline and overall breed type. He stands over the ground well and already shows pleasing whippet curves for his age. He was clearly feeling the cold in the hall today, which affected his settledness when standing, but once on the move he came into his own and showed himself to advantage. He has a very pleasing head with a soft, correct expression, good eye shape and balance of skull and foreface. Good length of neck, clean and well set, flowing smoothly into well-laid shoulders and a promising front assembly. His topline is developing well for his age, with a gentle rise over the loin, and he has sufficient length of body to maintain balance. On the move he was sound and true coming and going, covering the ground with easy, economical action and good reach and drive in profile. A very promising youngster with much to admire and time firmly on his side. Awarded Best Puppy, and I believe he went on to win BPIS — congratulations to his owner on a lovely young dog.

2nd Sandspring Sophia Loren

A dark fawn bitch showing good construction through the front, with well-laid shoulders and neat, well-arched feet. Still quite raw and immature at this stage and not yet presenting the overall balance, strength of topline or finish of my winner today. Nevertheless, she is a very pretty bitch with a sweet, feminine expression and correct type, and she should continue to improve as she matures and gains confidence.

Puppy

1st Repeat of Minor Puppy Winner

2nd Derohan Dark Angel

A black dog puppy with white trim who shows several pleasing breed characteristics. He has a nice head and expression, good use of ear and correct eye shape. He shows good length of body for his age and is developing nicely in outline. When settled, he moved with positive, sound action, showing promise in reach and drive. Still immature and not yet as settled or together as my winner today, but a youngster of potential who should continue to improve with time.

Junior

1st Bowdonia Elphaba

A young bitch who proved a very pleasant surprise. While not quite my usual preference in type, as I would like a touch more femininity, she quickly won me over on the move. She presents a balanced outline with a pleasing topline and underline and stands over the ground well. Her movement is effortless while remaining sound and true throughout, and the longer I observed her, the more she appealed. She held her shape on the move and showed consistency and confidence. A very well-deserved RBOB in good company today.

2nd Ballaurens You Go It

Another young parti-coloured bitch who shows some nice qualities. She would benefit from greater ring confidence and settling, particularly in her ear carriage, which at times distracted from her overall picture. On this occasion she did not quite move in complete harmony with her handler, and I would have preferred to see her shown at a steadier pace to allow her movement to flow more freely. Still immature and learning, but with further ring experience she should present a more composed and balanced picture.

Graduate

1st Repeat of Junior Winner

2nd Edenwhip Harvest Moon

A fawn bitch who made a pleasing overall picture and was close up to the winner, just lacking the maturity and finish to take the class today. Attractive for size and proportions, she presents a well-balanced outline with pleasing curves throughout. Today she moved a little close behind, possibly affected by the cold conditions, and I would very much like to see her again on another day. She remains a bitch of quality with much to admire.

Post Graduate

No entries.

Mid Limit

1st Sandspring Sea Coral

A mature fawn bitch who presents a solid picture. She has a pleasing head and expression, though she is heavier set than I would prefer. I would like a little more length of body to create a more balanced outline, and she appears somewhat short in upper arm, which affects her front construction. Unfortunately today she did not move as freely on the corners, which made her difficult to fully assess on the move.

Limit

1st Bowdonia Sky Full of Stars

An eye-catching brindle and white particolour who presents a balanced and harmonious outline. Correct bone of moderate substance, well-laid pasterns and neat, well-arched feet. She is sound on the move, covering the ground with easy, economical action. In the final challenge she was strongly considered for RBOB, but on this occasion just lacked the sparkle and complete freedom of movement shown by her kennel mate.

Open

1st Ch Zoraden Gossip Girl

A truly outstanding bitch and a worthy champion in every respect. Excellent for size, balance and overall breed type, she displays the classic whippet curves to perfection. Beautifully proportioned with a flowing outline, correct topline and underline, and great harmony throughout. She has the sweetest of heads, full of quality and expression, combined with a good lay of shoulder and neat, well-arched feet. Completely sound, she moves true coming and going and simply floats around the ring with effortless reach and drive. A pleasure to judge and a very deserving Best of Breed.

2nd Crosscop I’m Alwayz Yours at Ballauren

A very pretty parti-coloured bitch who is excellent for size and feminine throughout. Lovely expression with attractive eye shape and pigmentation. Good depth and overall balance. Once settled and moved at the correct pace, she showed a pleasing outline and held her shape well in profile. I would prefer a touch more length of loin for my personal taste, but overall a nice quality bitch — keep going with her.
