Oswestry & District Kennel Association 16.08.2026 Thank you to the Association for the invite to judge Golden Retrievers & Flatcoated Retrievers at this very friendly country Open show. My super hard working stewards made the day run very efficiently. Many thanks to you and to the exhibitors for your entries with some beautiful dogs. Although bone dry, the grass was quite slippery in parts and some managed better than others. I saw quality all round, with good character and temperaments. I found one level bite in Flatcoats. 

Golden Retriever 

Puppy 3 (1)                          1st. Nelson Mrs VJ - Cadwst Eternal Ember   Just loved this well balanced 10 month old pale gold puppy bitch. Her head was well defined and broad, without losing any femininity. Nice dark eyes and nose, ears well set on. Correct scissor bite and dentition. Exc. reach of neck leading to well placed shoulders. Exc. angulation both front and rear. She was straight in front with good bone and had plenty of heart room. She had correct closely fitting elbows and lovely tight feet. Her ribs were well sprung and she was short coupled, tail well set and well carried. She had a level topline, both standing and on the move, which was straight and true. She had good coat condition, was beautifully presented and handled. Just right for her age! Well done. BPIB Gundog Puppy Group1 

2nd. Cooper Miss AG - Amilone Don’t Mind If I Do at Dikeadaze  7 month old gold dog with well shaped and chiselled head, he had excellent pigment, correct scissor bite and dentition. He had a good reach of neck into correctly placed shoulders, but I would prefer more front angulation and tighter feet. He had a good topline and tail set. His chest needs to deepen, but this will come with maturity. Movement a little unco-ordinated today. Good coat and condition, well presented. 

Junior 6 (3)                          1st. Pietrykowski Mr M - It Takes Two Anarchia Box Wondertemple (Imp Pol) Beautifully presented young man of 13 months with a well shaped head, which will increase in masculinity once fully matured. He had a kind expression with a super dark eye and nose pigmentation, with correct scissor bite and dentition. He had well set ears, a strong neck leading to correctly placed shoulders and good topline. He had exc. front angulation with good pasterns. His feet just need to tighten a little. He had a good deep chest with plenty of heart room. He had excellent spring of rib and was short coupled. He had well muscled rear quarters with good second thigh, with correct bend into his stifle. He was in full cream coat and feathering. He had the correct tail set and carriage both on the stack and the on the move, which was straight and true and he effortlessly moved around the ring. 2nd. Riley Mrs SF - Strettonhills Quevega Pretty little mid gold bitch of just under 14 months. She had a feminine head with dark eye and nose. Correct scissor bite and dentition. Good reach of neck into correct shoulder placement. Nice shape coming to her chest with a straight front. I would like a little more spring of rib and she is short coupled. Correct tail set and carriage. Her movement today was a little loose. 

3rd. Millington Mrs J - Strettonhills Bring It Home To Jarabees 

Post Graduate 6 (2)            1st. Plevin Miss SM - Brynbachlove Smiler For Bowshella Mid gold bitch of 2 years. Correct scissor bite and dentition. She had a very pretty head with dark eyes and correct ear placement. She could do with a little more reach of neck and front angulation. She was nice and straight in front and stood on lovely tight feet. She had the correct tail placement and carriage, with a happy movement. She had a dense wavy coat with good condition. 

2nd. Liggins & Hodges Miss J & Mr S - Swanavly Popsy’s Legacy at Nunsbrook (Imp Srb) Cream dog of 3 years in good coat with full feathering. He had a masculine head with good stop and defined shape, with strong jaw. He had nice dark eyes and good nose. Correct scissor bite and dentition. He had well set ears, I would prefer more reach of neck into his good shoulder placement. Strong front angulation, correct spring of rib and short couplings. He needs to strengthen a little in rear quarters and I would also prefer tighter feet. His movement was a little loose today.

Open 3 (0)                          1st. Nelson Mrs VJ - Willowlawn Staycation At Cadwst  Beautifully balanced mid gold bitch of 6 years. She had a well chiselled head with a good skull, with the utmost of femininity. She had lovely dark eyes with a pretty expression. She had a well shaped neck with exc. reach into well placed shoulders. Her chest was deep with plenty of heart room and super angulations both front and rear. She had exc. spring of rib and was short coupled. She had well bent stifles and good thigh muscle. She had an exc. top line, well held both in the stack and on the move. Presented in exc. condition and handled to advantage. BOB and shortlisted in the Gundog Group 

2nd. Liggins & Hodges Miss J & Mr S - Silver Passion Glam Fashion At Nunsbrook JW (Imp Deu)  Cream dog of 4 years. Nicely shaped masculine head with good eye and nose pigment. Well positioned ears and strong jaw. I would prefer a little more reach of neck, which was muscular, into his good shoulder placement with good angulations. He had moderate bend into his stifle and a good topline held well. He had good quality of coat and moved fairly well.
