West Of England Dachshund Association

I must express my most sincere appreciations to the officers and committee of the West of England Dachshund Association, their invitation to judge at their Limited show was most welcome.

Standard Wires

Puppy

I found the puppies in this breed to be all of very much good quality and recognition must be made to the various breeders who have sought to breed a strong hound fit for purpose they were strong in character and body and I found all had that determination of purpose.

First;

Mr V. Phillips Tendrow Amazing Grace, a lovely bitch 8 months of age, wild boar , well put together,

thoroughly enjoying her day at the show moved well. and went round the ring with confidence.

Second;

Mrs S. Seath; Sunsong Hope for the Best, Lovely male 8 months of age , excellent condition and build a lovely muscular male which showed as he made his strides round the ring,and darker in colour to my winner had everything I wanted in a Standard wire, just referred my winner on this day.

Junior.

First; Dr.M. Eyre-Brooke ;Gentlegorse Dare to Believe, A lovely bitch with a good dark eye, much to like about her, muscular in her hinds and moved round the ring with good drive.

Novice

First; Mrs S. Seath; Sunsong Forever Hopeful. This is the girl I would like to take home to meet mother! I thought thee moment she came into the ring she had let herself known as being present, she was dark in colour with a good keel, excellent sternum and a rib cage to cover all the essentials, moved well round the ring sometimes taking the handler round with her at the rear. Unfortunately only one in the class.

Pleased to award her a first and Best of Breed and to then win Reserve Best in Show, and Reserve Best puppy in Show. I certainly couldn’t have asked for more from this exhibit and I’m sure her owner would have said similar.

Post Graduate.

First; Mrs S. Seath Sunsong Shine like a Star, a beautiful 8 month old bitch, wild boar in colour, and loved everything about her good depth of keel and length of sternum also moved well, good height and size too, a lot to like about her.

Second; Dr Eyre-Brooke, Fullicar Manuella at Gentlegorse, loved this bitch and couldn’t complain about her condition or construction in any way she is just unfortunate to meet my winner today

Limit.

First; Mrs S.J. Clayton-Smith Cairparavel Hartnell, Lovely type, excellent construction, good mouth, dark eye and a reach of neck that seemed to flow down into withers , lovely on the move a very nice male indeed.

Second; Mrs S. J.Clayton- Smith, Cairparavel Mary Quant, this bitch was much darker and had a dark eye, well filled and deep chest, good tail set, just preferred my winner on the day .

Standard Smooth Hair Dachshunds

Once again Thankyou to these exhibitors for bringing their Smooth Dachshunds for my opinion in the ring, I found all had good temperaments and no bad mouths no kinky tails and all were well muscled, I was pleased to go over each exhibit.

Puppy

First; Miss K.J. Small; Clentry Walking in Memphis. I loved the construction on this female, good conical head, dark eye, ample reach of neck, it flowed gracefully down toward the withers, good angulation as was the keel and length of sternum, I found the depth of chest and length of ribs good too, went round the ring proudly.
