National Working & Pastoral Breeds Society

National Working and Pastoral Breeds Society Open Show –

14th February 2026

Dobermann

It was a great pleasure to judge Dobermanns at this well organised show. There was a lovely atmosphere amongst the Working and Pastoral Exhibitors. I was impressed by the quality of the entry, all of them, without exception, had good temperaments and presented in good muscle toned condition. Thank you for entering your lovely dogs and accepting my decisions on the day. The floor of this venue was quite slippery and suited some dogs more than others. I was blessed with a really excellent Stewards - thank you Linda and Chris. I thoroughly enjoyed my day.

P(6,1) – 1. Boulton’s Aritaur Roulette Red -7 months brown & tan bitch. Initially took my eye for such balance, with very minimal gentle handling - this girl stands foot perfect every time with great ease. Ideal for size at this age. Pretty headpiece – almond eyes, level head planes, elongated wedge with such an appealing expression. Exhibiting the capability to work all day combined with the elegance of such quality bitch. Generous reach of neck flowing into a level topline and super tailset. Straight front legs, tight elbows, catlike feet. Super turn of stifle with well let down hocks. Moved with great reach, powered forward from the rear. Landed foot perfect moving and freestanding. A fabulous exhibit, who truly stood out, in line with the breed standard BPB 2. Wilson’s Aritaur Incantation At Pursang – 7 months black & tan bitch. I was told afterwards litter Sister to 1. I could see another very nice breed type here. Appealing wedge shaped head, well filled out under her beautiful dark almond shaped eyes. Good reach of neck flowing into a level top line and well filled croup. Stylish, very smart and compact. She presents a well balanced, elegant outline with clean length of neck and good angulation fore and aft. On the move, she was very true coming towards me and purposeful going round. These Sisters will change places on another day, both top quality girls. Overall construction angles stronger on 1 at this young age and preferred her size, but very early days and much to develop on both.

J (4, 1) – 1. Webb’s Shalissa’s Into The Shallow JW Bel Jun Ch 17 months black and tan bitch. Feminine, elegant, yet super bone, very strong, appearing fit and capable of her job of work. Clean and flowing outline with lovely length of neck and short coupling. Scores in head planes with good depth of muzzle and strength of jaw. Darkest oval eye with the most appealing expression. Well laid shoulders, depth of chest and tight feet. Liked her spring of rib, croup and good turn of stifle. Gave a good account of herself on the move – free, effortless showing super reach and drive RBOB. 2. Hickling’s Evalesco’s Shade Of Class 17months black and tan male. Masculine and in really fit, hard condition. Clean head with appealing dark oval eye and expression. Very good neck and shoulders, good forechest with depth of brisket and short, strong back. Moved soundly with power and vigour and in profile he was most impressive. A super boy, unfortunate to meet 1 today who topped the class for the elegance factor.
