SOUTH WEST ESSEX CA

31ST AUGUST 2026

Judge: Anthony Allen

I was thrilled to be invited to judge Best in Show at South West Essex Canine Assoc, I am grateful to the group judges who sent some super dogs through to the BIS competition and to my super stewards who guided me through and enabled everything to run so smoothly.

I had some super dogs to consider in the BIS line up and my thanks to the group judges for sending some super dogs forward. For Best In Show I selected the super young Jack Russel Laserna Captain Crash JW, I thought he was fabulous, not only did he have a super outline, he moved around the ring as if he owned it, full of attitude, I am sure he will have a bright future ahead of him. For Reserve Best In Show, I chose another youngster in the Irish Water Spaniel Sh Ch Nyllaup Akoya Pearl For Grakar JW ShCEx OSW, what an exciting youngster she is, so full of breed type, I was not surprised to see that she already has her title.

Best Puppy in Show was the divine Shetland Sheepdog Lindfern Dream Light, she came into the ring and stole my heart, coat gleaming and full of attitude. She has the most super head and expression and just excelled on the move, I could not deny her the top spot, I am sure she will have a bright future ahead of her. For Reserve Best Puppy in Show, I selected the super Affenpinscher Buffels Schwarz Wizardry For Scapafield. He has a super profile on the stack, well-made head piece with super dark eyes giving that typical expression. As with the winner moved out so well, I could not deny him the runner up spot.

Best Veteran in Show was hotly contested between two topflight dogs, just edging it was the blue merle Smooth Collie Ch Oakestelle Artemis ShCEx VW, one who has done well under me in the past and I was thrilled to see her again today and on such form. Still has all the essentials and just excelled on the move. Very close up and taking Reserve Best Veteran in Show was the Cesky Ch Komidion Prima Donna of Sametova ShCEx VW. Nine years old, beautiful and fit as a fiddle. She has the most beautiful outline on the stack and moved round the ring with carriage and accuracy; I thought her absolutely lovely.

A.V. MINOR PUPPY STAKES

1ST Fernstart Lionheart. Irish Setter.

A very promising youngster, right up my street. Lovely shape and outline showing balance and style. Masculine head and expression, good through the neck which led neatly to well-placed shoulders. Good depth to forechest and adequate return of forearm, ribs springing nicely, well back to a firm loin and good croup. Stands on good legs and feet, well bodied. Movement was good in profile, needs to tighten in front but that will happen in time. A lovely youngster with bags of potential.

2ND Altina's Jessie James. Pom.

What a super character this chap was, only a baby but never put a foot wrong, a real showman. I liked his size and balance and underneath the coat a well ribbed compact body. Quality head and good eye. In excellent coat and condition. Sound on the move, just not quite as coordinated as the winner today.

3RD Story Rex Heritage Guess For Axernamoon (imp Ita). Border Collie.

 A.V. PUPPY STAKES

1st Bona Fama Kaprys Rejenta at Benginger (imp Pol). Clumber.

Thought this young lady was super, she stood out in the class, Orange and white and 10 months. She just looked the part, beautiful head and expression, I loved her ‘look at me’ attitude. Strong through the neck into a super lay back of shoulder. Legs well boned and good feet. Body developing well for age, good length and held her shape throughout. Quarters well made with a decent bend of stifle. Moved out as if she owned the ring with a good action. Pleased to give her this class, will watch her career with interest.

2nd Osterfen Himeji. Whippet.

Another smart puppy, 10 months, he is of good type and overall balance. I like his head piece, which is long and lean, slight stop, muzzle tapering, well filled under his eyes giving a pleasing expression. Good through the neck into well laid back shoulders, and good return of upper arm, needs to fill in front but will do that as he matures. Good in topline, depth to chest and ribs are well sprung for his age. Stifles well bent, stands on good feet. Good in profile action, needs to tighten in elbow but has plenty of time

PRESIDENT MEMORIAL A.V. OPEN STAKES

1st Jodak's Party All Night with Barnlou. Lhasa.

I thought this lady stood out in this class, super rectangular outline on the stack, she is well made with good substance. Lovely feminine head and expression, well-made skull and moderate stop. Good through the neck into a well assembled front. Well made in body, good overall proportions and well angulated rear, super on the move with a classic gait, holds her shape and tail well.

2nd Annilann Da Business at Wissant Jw. Cocker.

Pretty bitch, good overall shape and size, she has a pretty head and expression. Decent lay back of shoulder, good through the ribs, a tad long in loin, good well developed quarters with well bent stifles. Moved out well with plenty of enthusiasm, scored in profile movement.

3rd Manzart Excalibur at Izralight Jw. Dobe.

A.V. CHAMPION BITCH STAKES

1st Ch Blamorder Double or Quits of Oakestelle Jw. Smooth Collie. Best Champion.

This lady won a stake under me when a puppy and it was great to see her again as the finished article. Now two years old and presented in top order, she has a beautiful coat, loved her head piece, wedge shaped with almond shaped eyes and good ears. Good through the neck into a well angulated front, well made in body with well-made quarters, stifles well bent. Moved out so very well with plenty of reach and drive to win this competitive class; top drawer.

2nd Rom Ch/Rom Gch Elena Kolekcja Szuwarka Spinillons Jw Jch (ikc). Papillon.

A lovely bitch who was superbly presented, I liked her outline on the stack, and she held her shape well on the move. Pleasing in head, pretty expression, enhanced by a lovely eye and super ears. She is well made with a good front assembly, stands on good legs and feet. Good in topline and her tail is set on well. In super condition and moved round the ring like a train to take this spot in a super class.

3rd Ch Tanellis Bloomin Primrose. Swe Val.

A.V. CHAMPION DOG STAKES

1ST Ch Riplington See Your Dreams. Parson Russell.

Stood alone but I could see he was a quality dog, eight years old but not showing his age at all. His head is pleasing, masculine, ears well set and a good eye. Shoulders well laid and good forechest. Stands on good legs and neat feet. Holds his shape and topline well. Quarters well angulated. Moved out well. A very smart dog, thank you for bringing him.
