2nd Mantle’s Rhiewvalley Ain’t Guilty: Masculine dog with pleasing outline, good head and expression, firm topline and sound movement. Not quite the finish or freedom of 1 today.

Very promising youngster with much to like. Presents a pleasing long, low outline with good substance and bone for age. Typical head developing well, with kind eye and soft Sussex expression. Good depth of body, firm topline and well-set tail. Moved soundly and steadily once settled with that distinctive Sussex roll over the shoulders showing good reach and drive for a puppy. Coat of pleasing rich liver colour and in good condition. Should mature on well. BP and BOB
2nd — Hipgrave’s Eald Harvest Moon
Another promising puppy . Litter brother to 1 and larger in size. Pleasing head and expression, good bone and feet, with sufficient length of body and depth for age. Not quite as settled or as finished as the winner today, and still needs to strengthen a little in movement, but has good Sussex character and was well presented. A puppy with plenty of time on his side.

A sound, workmanlike Sussex of pleasing type. Good long, low outline, strong bone and well-developed body. Feminine head with kind expression, good ear set and correct depth of muzzle. Well sprung ribs, firm through the back and strong over the loin. Moved truly with steady, positive action and held the topline well. Coat of correct colour and texture. A typical exhibit with good overall balance. (RBOB)
2nd — Davey’s Eald Village Urchin
Pleasing exhibit with good substance. Attractive head and soft expression, good depth through the body and well ribbed. Strong quarters and good coat colour. Just preferred the winner’s overall balance and more positive movement today, but this one has many breed virtues and was shown in good condition.

Quality Sussex Spaniel with excellent breed type and balance. Presents the desired long, low, level outline with strength and substance, without coarseness. Typical head with good skull and muzzle, kind eye and soft expression. Good reach of neck into well-laid shoulders, deep body, well-sprung ribs and firm topline. Strong bone and neat feet. Moved with the distinctive roll over the shoulders truly and with good drive, maintaining his outline throughout. Rich golden liver coat completed the picture. A worthy class winner. Pushed hard for top awards

Well ribbed, strong through the loin and presented in good coat and condition. Not quite the freedom and balance of movement of the winner today, but a sound and typical Sussex with much to admire Still looking good for 10 yrs of age

15-month-old Smooth Collie ,A very promising young dog of pleasing type, shown in good condition and presented well. He has a balanced outline with good length of body and a clean, athletic appearance. Attractive head and expression, with a kind eye and alert, intelligent look. Ears well placed, giving a typical Collie expression. His smooth coat was in excellent condition, with attractive blue merle colouring and clear markings. On the move he showed sound, free action with good reach and drive, holding his outline well.

17-month-old Lancashire Heeler A young dog of pleasing breed type, still maturing but with plenty to like. Compact and well balanced in outline, with a good length of body and a pleasing topline when settled. Masculine head with a bright, alert expression and good dark eye. Ears well carried, adding to his typical Heeler character. Good strength of muzzle and correct black and tan markings. A promising youngster who just needs time and experience to finish. Awarded 2nd today as he was not quite as settled or complete as the winner, but he has lots of quality and should continue to improve with maturity.
