Golden Retriever Club Of Wales
I would like to thank the Committee of the Golden Retriever Club of Wales for the opportunity to judge at their breed open show. A good atmosphere in the hall although the ring was a bit small for Goldens for me. The hospitality was wonderful and with an experienced steward in Colin. Thank you. The flooring was a "non-slip" sports hall but a few exhibits lacked confidence on it today.

2. SPECIAL VETERAN Dog or Bitch (8 yrs and over) (3,2)
1.French's CAFFIMBRA TATTERED LACE Lively 8 year old bitch, correct height and with good profile, good balance, head is broad without coarseness, dark eye and good pigment, well set ear, would like a fraction more length to neck, deep in rib with a correct shape and well sprung, good lay of shoulder and equal upper arm, good bone in foreleg, strong pasterns and correct cat like feet, strong in topline, good croup and tailset, strong in rear quarters and hocks. Moved a bit erratic and could be more driving. Went much better in the challenge later in the day. BVIS
3. MINOR PUPPY Dog (1,0)
1. Taylor's CALACAREY OVER THE MOON BY TANNADICE Attractive 6.5 months, height and profile balance is good, rich cream in coat of good condition, head is broad in back skull but muzzle needs to finish, dark eye with good pigment, dentition good, ear set correct and ears of moderate length, a good length to his neck which has some strength developing to it, correct lay of shoulder and adequate return, elbow could be tighter to rib but will improve with maturity, good brisket for age, pleasing bone in foreleg, correct pasterns but feet need time to tighten up. Strong in topline and croup, his loin is broad and strong. Well muscled in rear for age, reasonable bend to stifle and his hocks are straight, moved with good drive for age with correct tail carriage. Quite promising.

5. JUNIOR Dog (2,1)
1.Evans' PUTJADE POPSTER 14 months, good potential here but not quite the finished article yet. Good height to wither, pleasing length to body but not truly in balance as profile has slightly sloping topline at the moment. Head is broad enough in backskull but muzzle is yet to finish, well defined in stop, dentition is tight scissor bite, tight flews, strong neck of good length with no throatiness, shoulder is well laid but upper arm just currently lacking the length and lay I required, elbow not tight yet and forelegs not quite under body enough yet. Strong in topline, rib and loin, ribs need to spring to finish, tail set is correct and rear quarters are strong with good muscling for age, feet are correct and tight, moved soundly and true but not the front reach I would desire. Flies his tail a little for me. Only needs a bit of time to finish.
6. YEARLING Dog (1,0)
1.Evans' PUTJADE POPSTER moved again and improved in his action.
7. GRADUATE Dog (4,1)

Thorne's PANTEGPARISH DUKE OF YORK 3 year dog, correct in height and of good overall balance, rich cream in straight coat, head is matured, broad in skull, muzzle is a bit short for me here, well defined stop, dark eye with good pigment in eye and nose, ear is set on correctly with eye level and ear are moderate in length, good length to neck but a little throaty, strong in well laid shoulder and with a good return of upper arm, pleasing depth to brisket on well shaped and sprung ribs, bone in foreleg is correct, strong pasterns and correct tight feet, lovely topline and loin is strong, croup and tailset is correct, strong in rear quarters with good second thigh, hocks well let down. Moved soundly and true, with good driving action, but flies tail a bit for me.
2.Mitchell's GANPENTRE MELON Just over 2 years, lighter cream straight coat, preferred coat here to 1, pleasing back skull and muzzle, dark eye with excellent pigment and correct ear set, strong clean neck and correct topline, good depth to ribs and with good brisket, well laid shoulder, a little short in upper arm are giving too much room behind the elbow for me. Good length of rib to strong loin. Well muscled in rear quarters with good second thigh, hocks just slightly turning in when stacked, lovely feet. Moved soundly but a bit narrow behind for me. Flies his tail a bit too much for me.
