SATURDAY, 3RD OCTOBER, 2026

Firstly, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to this charming committee for inviting me to judge at their limited show, and for looking after me so well on the day - it was a joy and a pleasure to judge the gundog group as well as some variety classes.

There was a lovely atmosphere around the ring and I was delighted to see that my best Veteran went on to Best Veteran in Show, congratulations.

AVNSC GUNDOG PUPPY (3 entries, 1 absent)

Two lovely puppies headed up this class, both at very different stages of puppyhood

1ST BABTONKELPIE SHIP HAPPENS

11 month Blue Roan cocker spaniel bitch. She has the nicest of heads with a kind melting expression, she is nicely angulated front and rear and has good bone, she has a nice compact body, being well ribbed and short coupled, a most confident youngster powering around the ring. I wish her well for the future, very nice puppy indeed. Best Gundog Puppy

2nd ROSINANTE HE WHO DARES,

Golden Retriever, what a little poppet, his first show at 6 months and he is very nice indeed, sweetest of heads, leading into a good reach of neck, nice lay back of shoulder and return of upper arm. Nice tight feet. He is very much a baby and most importantly enjoyed his day out; he was handled well and I am sure we will hear more of this young man as he matures.

AVNSC GUNDOG JUNIOR (3 entries, 1 absent)

1ST MISTCAPLE TEASEL MEADOW

14 month old GSP bitch, she has a nicely proportioned head with sweet expression, leading into strong muscular neck, with well laid back shoulder placement, nice straight front; both her front and rear angulation is good with good bend of stifle which enabled her to move with purpose and drive whilst maintaining her topline on the move.

2ND SURRAZIL LORETTA LYNN

Black and tan cocker bitch, sweet expression, kindly eye and good ear placement, she is nicely portioned, front and rear and is in good coat, her movement today was not as sound as the winner.

AVNSC GUNDOG POST GRADUATE (6 entries, 0 absent)

1ST BABTONKELPIE COP THE LOT

Blue roan cocker bitch, another lovely girl from this kennel, shown in good coat and condition. She has a sweet feminine head and nice square muzzle, ear placement is good with a correct scissor bite. Good straight front with neat elbows – nicely angulated front and rear which enabled her to move powerfully around the ring. Just pipped today by her sister who was on top form.

2nd EVALUNA FOR YOUR EYES ONLY AT MISTIN JW

Charming pointer, who has a lovely chiselled head and melting expression, nice top line and tail set which she held on the move.

3rd FENPINQUE PUMPKIN CHARM

AVNSC GUNDOG OPEN (7 entries, 1 absent)

1ST BABTONKELPIE GALLEY QUEEN JW

Post judging, I learnt this delightful bitch was litter sister to the winner of PG, what a cracking pair of merry girls they are – displaying the true breed type - this delightful blue roan bitch was all I was looking for in a cocker, she is very well balanced and a joy to see her commanding the ring – always attentive to her handler.

She has a gentle feminine head with sweet expression, with nice tight eyes, great angulation front and rear, she is in great coat and her body is strong and compact and short across the loin, this young lady comes into her own on the move and she is a joy to watch. Beautifully presented. Delighted to award her Best Gundog.

2nd EVALUNA CHASING RAINBOWS WITH HOOKWOOD JW

Pointer, who displays a very nice clean outline. She has a feminine head, which is well balanced with kind eye. Her clean neck flows into good shoulders and tight elbows, she is deep through the heart and short in the loin – she has a straight front and well angulated hind quarters, she is very nicely made and moved true and with drive.

3rd OAKMARSH KINGSLEY ADSILA

AVNSC GUNDOG VETERAN (1 entries, 0 absent)

1st SPERANT PAMPLEMOUSSE

GSP, 7 ½ years - Very nice indeed, could certainly move that’s for sure, stood alone, but that did not distract from her quality, superb head and expression, nice dark eye and correct bite, leading into good reach of neck and shoulder placement. I was delighted to award her Res Best Gundog and to see her go on to win BVIS – Congratulations.

AV BREAST CARE AWARENESS OPEN STAKES (15 ENTRIES, 8 ABSENT)

A really lovely class, placings will definitely change on another day, but for me the first two stole the class on their ring presence and movement.

1st ARTISKIES GOT IT

11 year old, Siberian Husky, my notes say, real show stopper, both on the move and standing, wow can this boy move, . with correct angulation fore and aft and good muscling, holding his topline on the move He has a nice balanced head, pleasant expression with good ear set. Lovely double coat and condition.

2. DON’T STOP THE MUSIC FOR FIZOENA

Dachshund (min smooth-haired) really smart little guy who at 2 years old, is really coming into his own. He has a fabulous head, kind eye, ear setting, muscular body and is nicely angulated front and rear, with well let down hocks which allowed him to move with purpose and drive, loved him.

3rd BLACK MATRIX DI POGGIO PETROIO TO SEALANDAIR (IMP ITA)

AV NOT BRED BY EXHIBITOR STAKES (11 ENTRIES, 4 ABSENT)

1ST AMIDALA COSMOPOLITAN AT EVALUNA

GSP, seemed to settle much more in this class than earlier in the day and her movement was easier to evaluate She has a very nice, well balanced head and feminine expression, with nice shaped eye and correct ear set. She is well boned and angulated front and rear. Once she settles she moves very well indeed. At just over 2 years she is now coming into her own, I wish her well for the future.

2nd OAKMARSH KINGSLEY ADSILA

Chesapeake Bay Retriever, another who seemed to come into their own later in the day, a very nice sound bitch, who covered the ground well.
