Honley Show Society

Thank you to the society for inviting me to judge the Toy Group, varieties and BIS, replacing the scheduled judge who I have no doubt was very disappointed not to be able to fulfil her appointment at this lovely show. Thanks also to my excellent stewards who helped to keep the ring running smoothly and who had worked all day virtually without a break. It was an extremely warm day and therefore lots of people decided to stay home so lots of absentees in the breed classes but who could blame them. Thank goodness for the cool breeze that wafted occasionally through the rings!

BIS was the ShihTzu CH Unstoppable Alpiu Slenis To Jaxtzu (imp Ltu) JW SHC.Ex OSW. A beautifully presented 2 yr d, excellent head with large eye, correct bite and an almost haughty expression, good length of neck into shoulders, a firm topline to high set well plumed tail and showing plenty of pad on the away RBIS was the PBGV CH Erylan Poseidon De La Mer JW CHC.Ex OSW a fit and well conditioned 3 ½ yr old d presented in a good harsh coat, he has a lovely head with large eyes giving such a soft and kind expression, strong neck and good depth of chest with ribcage extending well back under a strong level topline and moving out freely all ways . BPIS was the Rottweiler Virlees Wild At Heart, A big strong and bold girl with plenty of bone and substance but still retaining femininity, pleasing head properties with a lovely dark eye and high set well used ears, I loved the power she exuded as she covered the ground with excellent reach and drive, RBIS was the Beagle Kingswin Brenda Lee a smart 7mth tri b whose head still needs to develop on but I liked her outline and substance and she stands true in front on well boned forelegs and lovely tight feet with depth to her chest and a firm topline, on the move she reaches well in front holding her shape. BVIS was the Bearded Collie Malandex Xpressively Sweet With Aratika VW, a 9 yr old b presented in super coat and condition, well proportioned with a level topline, good bend of stifle and moving out smoothly around the ring. RBVIS was the Bracco Tolriver Enzo at Owlspoint, this lad was my BD/BV when I judged the breed earlier in the year and he just seems to get better, almost square in shape and solid to go over with muscular hindquarters, well developed thighs and covering the ground soundly with plenty of drive from the rear

CKCS J (4,2) 1 and BOB, BP Lintons Daltonians Poppies a well schooled 7mth ruby b, pretty head with lovely dark eye, moderate length of neck and well angulated fore and aft, she moved out freely with good carriage 2 Woods Alsidewood Imitation I liked the overall shape of this black/tan 8mth d, he was presented in a well prepared coat but tended to roach his topline on the move today PG (3) 1 Daltonians Poppies 2 Hoods Rabymar New York AWB 3yr ruby dog in good coat and muscled condition, well shaped head and large dark eye, he stands true in front on well feathered feet and moved out soundly in profile, not quite the elegance of the winner today 3 Eccles LLapsttam Get Knotted JW O (1,1)

CHIHUAHUA LC J (5.3) 1CZYK’S Flaming Lambourghini Right Royal (imp CZE) a pretty b/t b, smart in outline and fine boned, well shaped skull with large clean eyes, level backline to well carried tail and moving out with confidence 2 Fellones Funkopupz Kinky Boots 10 mth blue/tan b a pleasing shape overall but not as confident as the winner and movement was a little difficult to assess PG (5,3) 1 and BOB, BP Fellone’s French Connection Right Royal of Emarachis (Imp CZE) 10mth cream d with a lovely apple head, large eye and pleasing expression, very good topline and hind angulation, could have a tad more body but very smart and confident on the move 2 CSYK Silverchi Blue Velvet 2 yr blue/white who would benefit from carrying less weight, she has a reasonable front and a level topline and moved out fairly well when settled O (4,3) 1 Obringer’s Chihohit Favourite Non Pareil Charm Chiaffie 5 yr cream b with a good apple skull and short muzzle, arched neck into an ample lay of shoulder, good depth of chest and very at one with her handler, moved out briskly with good tail carriage 2 Flaming Lambourghini Right Royal (imp CZE) 3 Silverchi Blue Velvet

CHIHUAHUA SC J (3,2) 1 Stading Dorentys Mint Up North Luvs Stadmeyer 8 mth dog with a lovely head and large clean eye, well set ears, pleasing neck and excellent topline, nicely angulated fore and aft, I liked his outline and style but he needs to come together on the move PG (3,2) 1 Obringer Yue De Petit Roi Mojityo Chiaffe 20mth fawn b a lovely headed girl with a super keen expression, slightly arched neck into well laid shoulders, good front and standing on straight forelegs and neat feet, excellent topline and well bent stifles, moved out soundly (3,2) 1 and BOB Stadings Toltechi’s Dante Le Poete JW 2.5 yr tri d, smart and solid to go over with good muscletone and body condition throughout, lovely apple head and large eye emitting an appealing expression, arched neck and a good lay of shoulder, deep chest, super topline to correctly set and carried tail and well angulated in the rear, I loved his powerful and brisk movement where he displayed excellent reach and drive but with a hint of elegance that gave him an advantage in the challenge, a really appealing lad.

PAPILLONS J (5,3) 1 and BOB Verity and Moors Tresor De Tosha De Norabelle (IKC)A delightful 14 mth old presented in lovely coat, super head and large mobile ears with good fringeing, fine in bone and standing true on front on well shaped feet, excellent topline held on the move, free moving and accurate all ways, loved him! 2 and RBOB, BP Humphreys Akajou My Boy D’Euskadi (Imp Fra) this lovely baby was at his first show but stood very well for inspection, he has a medium size dark eye with an alert and intelligent expression and well set ears, finely boned forelegs and is nicely angulated behind with fringed tail carried over the back. Once he settled he went forward with confidence. PG (6,5) 1 Varleys Iostastars Join The Dots For Coxleyview sable white b rising 2, this girl was presented in super silky coat and featherings, leasing head shape with slightly rounded skull and defined stop, moderate length of neck, finely boned forelegs and small well shaped feet, good hind angulation and parallel hocks, moved out freely but could have a better topline O (8,8)

PUGS J (4,2) 1 and BP Turnballs Nicobri’s Suits You Sir a cobby youngster with an excellent head and good pigment, short strong neck and standing well with ample width in front, good spring of rib for his age and a strong topline to high set well curled tail, once settled he moved out with typical gait and good front action, my puppy group winner later in the day 2 Turnballs Barryanns Precious fawn b with a pleasing head and eye and neat well set ears, strong in bone but just standing a little e/w today, cobby enough in body and moderately angulated in the rear, PG (1) 1 and BOB Ranshaws Conquell Curley Spencer At Reyakosa Compact and well bodied with strong bone although I wouldn’t want him any bigger, head is broad and masculine with large eyes and dark pigment, he has a good width to his chest and well sprung ribs, moved out with purpose and good front reach O (1,1)

AVNSC Toy P (5,4) 1 and BPAVNSC Obringers Affenpinscher Ashiblack Maybe Baby Chiaffe a very cute and cheeky 7mth b with a dark round eye and small neat ears, currently just looking a tad long in body but with a firm level topline and moderate hind angulation and was most definitely a lively mover as the breed asks for! J (1) 1 Greens Bolognese Banacek Annalisa With Samorrey a pretty and feminine 15mth b who is possibly a little longer in body than ideal but time is on her side, she has good flocking to her coat and moved out well enough, PG (2,2) O (2,2)

AV Toy Veteran (4,3) 2 and BV Toy Humphreys Papillon Lilnrose Butterfly Kisses To Gloynbyw this 7 yr b has a very pretty head with short fine muzzle, dark eye, and well fringed mobile ears, good depth of chest and neat elbows, a sound and free mover.

AV VINTAGE (7,6) 1 R/Collie Barrenclough Touch Of Thyme JW, this 10.5yr b has a good wedge head and high set ears, pleasing neck and shoulders with ample depth of chest and still moves out with good drive, coat could have been a little better prepared.

AV MP (28,12) 1 Clumber Vanitonia Spectre of Whitebraith, I was quite taken with this young dog particularly in his effortless and accurate movement and I found him quite together for his age, lovely head with broad skull, clean eye with just enough haw showing, excellent bone and substance but not overdone and a firm topline on the stack with broad hindquarters and strong hocks. Very well handled and presented, a quality puppy 2 Beardie Astuce De Vauboison For Aratika (Imp Fra) Stacks up nicely to show good balance and proportions, firm topline held on the move and well angulated front and rear, another exhibit presented in excellent coat and condition 3 Shih Tzu Mapimakastar Nadia Jol Rio

AV P (30,7) 1 Beardie Tyburys Arya’s Legend For Ellishar this young b is such a beautiful and easy mover and I loved her overall shape, she holds a very good topline and is nicely angulated in the rear and covers the ground freely and easily, she just needs to come together a little more in front but very promising 2 Clumber Vanitonia Spectre of Whitebraith (see MP) 3 Shih Tzu Mapimakastar Nadia Jol Rio

AV J (32,12) 1 Shih Tzu Mapimakastar Nadia Jol Rio an attractive b with a pleasing head and friendly expression coming from her large dark eye, she has a good width of chest and firm topline 2 L/Heeler Ribblespride Kruger JW this well marked 17mth b/t d is of sturdy make with a good skull shape and tapered muzzle, strong neck and well laid shoulders, body is well ribbed with muscular hindquarters and he moved out briskly around the ring 3 M/Schnauzer Wlanimu’s Prosperity Path With Tammux (Imp)

AV PG (36,19) 1 T/Terrier Kelmorespitz Love ‘N’ War 17mth black dog with a balanced outline, good head and ears, long neck, firm topline and a good spring of rib, well furnished all through and moving out soundly 2 M/Schnauzer Wlanimu’s Marked For Greatness With Tammux (Imp UKR ) 13mth b, smart and compact in shape with a good length of head and neat well set ears, strong neck into well laid shoulders with short back and firm topline, moves with plenty of drive A/Malamute Samjoe’s The One And Only

AV O (35,13) 1 Whippet Reffton Tibalt At Whipsearle JW CW25 (Imp Esp) 4yr d, shapely in outline with a lean head and lovely length of neck, correct topline and muscular quarters with well developed thighs, moved out with accuracy all ways 2 JSI, Mothersdale Amivikes Cos I Am Special Too 6 yr b with a beautiful head and expression, forelegs strong to slightly sloping pasterns and neat feet, well sprung ribs and high set tail, very light on her feet 3 Shih Tzu Mapimakastar Naila Jol Rio

BRACE (21,5) This was such a fun class to judge and sometimes dogs do what dogs want to do and not what you want them to do! 1 Sawska’s pair of Shih Tzus who were so well matched for type and shape and moved very well together 2 Topham and Maltas’s pair of Rotts the more they went round the better they got, finally moving in unison and matching stride for stride 3 Williams Bullmastiffs
