Wolsingham & Wear Valley Agricultural Society

My thanks go to the committee of Wolsingham & Wear Valley Agricultural Society for inviting me to judge at their Open Show 2026. I thoroughly enjoyed my day; the show was extremely well organised with a great atmosphere throughout.

I had the pleasure of judging some excellent dogs, which gives me great confidence in the future of the breed. Thank you to all the exhibitors who entered under me and gave me the opportunity to go over their dogs. Your support goes a long way. 

Finally, a special thank you to my extremely efficient stewards, Lorraine and Pauline, who were on the ball throughout and helped keep everything running smoothly.

PUPPY – 2 entered, 0 absent

1st – WILLIAMS – Jodels Lola

Shared the ring with her litter sister, both showing a lot of similarities. A red and white bitch with a pleasing head shape, good length of muzzle, distinct stop, open nares, dark round eyes, correct scissor bite and neat rose ears. A good amount of bone for a youngster, with a wide front and correct depth of brisket. Strong pasterns, standing on neat feet. I preferred her rear quarters to 2nd, which won her first place today.

2nd – JAMIESON-BRAMLEY & WALBEY – Jodels Layla With Tyneview

A red bitch with white chest, feet and legs. Similar to her sister, she has a pleasing head shape, good length of muzzle and a distinct stop with no exaggeration. Neat ears and correctly shaped dark eyes. Open nares with a correct scissor bite. Neat feet and strong pasterns, with good depth to her brisket. *level top line standing and on the move. Once settled, she moved well. She was a bit of a handful for her handler today, but both pushed through well enough.

JUNIOR – 6 entries, 2 absent

1st – COOK – Staffranos Esquire at Ragnarstaff

A smart white pied male with a strong but unexaggerated head and the sweetest of expressions. Correctly shaped dark eyes with excellent pigmentation, a distinct, deeper stop and neat ears. Desired length of muzzle, clean lipped with open nares. Good width to his front leading into a well-sprung rib, light in the loin, with correct tail carriage and good rear angulation. Moved freely while maintaining a level topline. One of the fittest dogs of the day and ultimately a well-deserved winner of the class.

2nd – MARSDEN – Jayneze All Or Nothing At Modlife

A feminine black brindle bitch with a flash of white to her chest and tips of her feet. I really liked her head shape, with a clean muzzle, distinct stop, open nares and a good bite. Straight in front with enough width at present. When stood freely, she presents good rear angulation with well let-down hocks. Moved well with elegance. I preferred the overall outline and level of fitness of 1st place on the day.

POST GRADUATE – 13 entries, 3 absent

1st – REYNOLDS – Niatona Tafyta Muttonfudge

A red & white bitch with a complementary white flash down her head. A really attractive head shape with good width to her skull, distinct stop, dark eyes and good pigmentation. Correct scissor bite, wide open nares and good length of muzzle. She has a straight, well-boned front with enough substance and good width, strong pasterns sitting on neat, well-padded feet. Light in the loin with an athletic appearance, she is close coupled with good rear angulation, enabling her to move effortlessly and with purpose. Ultimately winning her class.

2nd – PHILLIPS – Geordiestoon Queen Of Fury

A flashy black brindle bitch with white feet and chest who, alongside 1st place, really stood out in this class. An attractive head with neat ears, a classy expression, dark eyes and open nares. Clean lipped with the desired length of muzzle. A balanced, well-sized bitch with a close coat, presented in immaculate condition. She has enough width to her front with well-muscled shoulders, leading down to slightly turned-out feet. Good rear angulation with correct tail set. Moved well, but I preferred the movement of 1st place on the day.

1st – WALBEY – Tyneview Rizzius Lussio

A very smart brindle lad with white chest and feet. A well-balanced dog with a pleasing head shape, carrying neat ears, a distinct stop, good length of muzzle and open nares. I would prefer a slightly darker eye, but this does not detract from his pleasing expression. He has good width to his front with plenty of bone, a good spring of rib and is close coupled with good rear angulation. Presented in excellent condition. He moved confidently and effortlessly with purpose, ultimately winning his class and being awarded RBOB.

2nd – JAMIESON-BRAMLEY – Tyneview Alfissimo

An attractive, feminine brindle bitch with a lot of qualities. Similar in style to 1st place, being his litter mate. A balanced, well put together bitch with a pleasing outline. She has good width to her skull, neat ears, good length of muzzle and wide open nares. Well-muscled through the shoulders and hindquarters. Her movement was easy and free, holding a level topline throughout. It was a close decision between these two, but I preferred 1st place overall on the day.

OPEN – 11 entries, 4 absent

1st – REYNOLDS – Niatona Wreck It Ralph

An attractive red and white dog who caught my eye as soon as I saw him. A good blend of bull and terrier without being overdone. He has a keen expression on a clean head, with a wide skull and good length of muzzle. Neat rose ears which he uses well. A correct scissor bite throughout with large canines. He showed great confidence in the ring, showing exactly why he holds his Champion title.

A short, strong neck sitting on well laid-back shoulders, excellent width to his chest and strong pasterns on correctly turned-out, well-padded feet. A well-sprung rib leading to a good tuck-up and well-set tail, which he carried correctly. Presented in fit, hard condition. His outline was pleasing from every angle. He moved effortlessly and with purpose, ultimately winning his class and I was pleased to award him BOB. He then went on to achieve Terrier Group 3.

2nd – JAMIESON-BRAMLEY – Tyneview Etna Nero

A well-proportioned brindle dog with a flash of white to his chest, presented in good condition. Another from this kennel with the desired head shape, well balanced with good length of muzzle; credit to the breeders. He has no exaggerations, with a keen, alert expression, dark round eyes, distinct stop and open nares. Enough width to his front, a level topline, good depth of brisket and well-sprung ribs. I would prefer slightly more bend of stifle, but overall a really nice dog who moved well, achieving a well-deserved place in a quality class.
