Thank you to the secretary and committee for a lovely day. I was a last minute stand in judge and the show unfortunately clashed with toy day at Richmond Championship Show which certainly impacted the entry. Thank you to my steward for keeping the ring running smoothly and to the exhibitors for their entries and the friendly and sporting manner places were received making for a very pleasant day.

20th month bitch, pleasing head, wrinkles clean, good round eye and ear set, short neck, stocky and square, broad chest, well set curled tail, once settled moved well.

2nd Mr & Mrs Kelsall – Flaikwell Damson Jam

5 yr old bitch, another good head into short neck, good square shape when stood, tight tail, shown well, moved ok.

20 months old, really liked the overall package, good head but definitely feminine, clean wrinkles, correct eye, well set ears, short neck into a straight front, well bodied with short loin, good strong quarters. Moved really well once she settled with typical rear roll. Tight curled tail.

dog of 9 months, domed head with good stop, good eye and ear set, enough neck into good front, level topline, well sprung ribs, small bright character, moved ok.

2nd Mrs Skinner – Mujerosa Miss Tooty Frooty

litter sister to first and again a good head and nicely bodied, taller than brother, moved well but just lacked overall confidence with a stand in handler.

6 months old bitch, loved this little package, being picky could be a tad bigger but she is exquisite, lovely head with good eye and ear set, nice length of neck, well bodied, correct height/length ratio, moved so true, a little shy with a stand in handler but back with mum went better in Group.

9 month old dog, another with a correct head piece, well set ears into a good length of neck, a fraction straighter in shoulder than first, good rib cage, quarters ok, moved ok.

Litter sister to limit winner and 2nd post graduate – very elegant and smart, super wedged shaped head, flat skull, almond eye, correct set ears, lovely neck line, good front into a well covered body, correct topine with curve, good quarters, tail set correct, her movement clinched this class & BOB.

2nd Mrs Snell – Neerodan Pepper Minty

3 year old dog, a stronger overall type than 1, good wedged head, nice eye and well set ears, neck of good length in to a good body, correct curved topline, good quarters, moved ok.

So much to like in this 16 month old bitch, correct muzzle to skull ratio, excellent pigment, correct scissor bite, good eye, enough neck into a clean front with good lay of shoulders, good ribbed body and good strong rear, moved freely and true fore and aft, well set tail, in excellent coat, close up to Bichon who just edge the group win.

Oh what a sweetheart, she is a small package just over a year old, she looks through you with a lovely expression, super eyes with halos, excellent bite, good ear set, lovely neck line into clean straight front, nicely bodied, good quarters, moved so well, correct coat just needs a bit more to complete the picture. My choice for Best RBOB.

Newfoundland 5 yr old dog, super head and expression, well balanced from his nose to the tip of his tail, straight topline, moved soundly. Presented immaculately, loved him.

Shetland Sheepdog 5 yrs old, dog, appealing head properties, well set ears, balanced and presented to advantage in good coat, moved well despite swapping handlers to move him. Liked him for size and type.

Handling Classes

An observation in all classes please talk to your dogs, communication and a connection with your dogs however well trained is pleasing to see and part of being a good handler. Also try to keep you dog’s in the middle of the mat as its there for your dog not you. Sadly due to me being a stand in judge these classes followed my other judging and were later on and many had left, personally I think these should be first on in the morning. Thank you to those that stayed.

Junior 6-11 yrs 1 entry 0 absent

1st Evie-May Smart 10 years old, quiet, gentle and considerate in her handling of her young collie of 9 months, overall her triangle and up and down were clean and accurate, Evie-May stacked her dog well and moved efficiently. No puppy is an easy option and congratulations on doing a good job. Lots of promise here and as her confidence grows she I am sure will have a good future in these classes.

Junior 1 – 16 yrs 4 entries 3 absent

1st , Best JH, Lilly Betty 15 yrs old, another quiet, confident and efficient handler, presented her cocker spaniel to advantage, moved at a good pace and completed her triangle and up and down cleanly. Excellent stacking and shadowing was smooth and unforced. A pleasure to judge.

Adult Handling

Three lovely considerate handlers, I really was splitting hairs, well done.

1st Best Overall Handler Paige Edens handling a Wheaten Terrier – handled with kindness and efficiently managed her triangle and up & down at the right pace for her dog. Stacked well and was unassuming at keeping track of where I was at all times and ensured her dog was shown to full advantage. Just edged the very competent BJH.

2nd Hana Holden handling a Flat Coat Retriever – Another kind and efficient handler despite handling a breed who are not the easiest, moved at a good pace and did a good triangle and up and down, stacking was clean and shadowing good.

3rd Niamh Woodhouse handling a Minature Dachshund 

40 yrs + 5 entries 3 absent

1st Victoria Norton handling a Kooierhondje overall good handling, stacked and shadowed well, moved at right speed but cut corners on your triangle so could be cleaner, but won class on overall performance.

2nd Tanya Keats handling Miniature Schnauzer handled well when stacked but slipped up on shadowing, moved at correct speed and completed her triangle and up and down cleanly.
