CRITIQUE – LABRADOR RETRIEVER

I would like to thank the committee of the Edwinstowe & District Canine Society for inviting me to judge Labrador Retrievers at their Open Show on 3rd April 2026, and a big thank you to my ring steward who kept the ring running smoothly. Thank you too, to all the competitors who kindly entered, I thoroughly enjoyed my day. 


PUPPY (2,0a) 1st Falshaw’s Rochevale Primrose of Lonicerium – A truly super severn month old yellow puppy bitch. A very well balanced puppy for her age with a lovely feminine head and dark eye, clean neck with a balanced outline and good front and rear angulation, tail well set and carried, she moved freely and happily around the ring. BP 

2nd Edwards’ Kimbajak Master Michael – Very nice eleven month old yellow puppy dog, correct size for age, a pleasing head and kind expression. Well made throughout with well placed shoulders and level topline, good angulation leading to nice tight feet. Moved soundly around the ring.


JUNIOR (1,0a) 1st Deanes’ Tanronens Yuletide Angel. Feminine yellow bitch, nice dark eye, and well balanced feminine head, clean neck and shoulders, and good forechest, well angulated, with level topline well set, well covered otter tail. Moved well. Res BOB


POST GRADUATE (5,3a) 1st Ives’ Ivyraines Storm in a Teacup – A well-built and balanced black bitch, pleasing head and expression, correctly angulated front and back leading to nice tight feet, solid topline leading to an otter tail, moved and showed well.

2nd Ayres’ Musubi Who Dares Wins – Black dog with pleasing head and eye colour, level topline, well balanced and well made, moved soundly.


LIMIT (2,1a)1st Young’s Potterspiney Mystic Zain - Quality black dog, with masculine head and kind expression, well balanced and well angulated, clean neck and shoulder, good topline which he held on the move, shown in good coat, moved freely and soundly around the ring, shown and handled very well, pleased to give him BOB


OPEN DOG (3,2a) 1st Young’s Potterspiney Optimist Vision - Good head proportions, nice dark eye, clean reach of neck and strong topline, good overall angulation, slightly enthusiastic on the move, but moved soundly. 


OPEN BITCH (4,3a) 1st Hall’s Handialla Lockdown Girl – Well proportioned yellow bitch with feminine head and good pigmentation. Good reach of neck leading to level topline, and well placed tail. Well angulated throughout with nice tight feet. Moved with purpose around the ring.
