Oakengates & District Canine Society

Breed: Australian Shepherd

It was a pleasure to judge Australian Shepherds at Oakengates & District Canine Association. Although my entry was small, I was pleased with the quality of the dogs presented. My thanks go to the exhibitors for entering.

JUNIOR BITCH

1st — Aussie Revolution Conquer With Grace Via Takhisis (Imp Ita) BIH/RS JCH

A quality 14-month-old blue merle bitch with a lovely feminine head and pleasing expression. Attractive blue merle colouring and presented in excellent condition. Well balanced throughout, with a good length of back creating a pleasing outline. Moved freely and soundly with good reach and drive, maintaining her topline on the move. A promising young bitch with much to like and worthy of her first place today.

OPEN

1st — Ch/Bel/RS/BIH Ch Caronlea Celtic Fire Starter for Takhisis JW OSW BW24 (AI) (IKC) — Best of Breed

A very typey, quality five-year-old dog who immediately appealed for his overall balance and breed type. Attractive masculine head with correct eyes and ears, giving a typical expression. Muscular neck of good length flowing into a well-balanced outline. Well-sprung ribs, excellent bone and balanced rear angulation. Stood true in front and was presented in first-class condition, with a well-maintained coat. Moved freely and soundly with good reach and drive, covering the ground with ease while maintaining a firm topline. A worthy winner of the Open class and a deserving Best of Breed. I was delighted to see him go on to achieve a well-deserved Group placing.

2nd — Triforce Brigit

A smaller-framed bitch, but well constructed and balanced throughout, with everything in proportion. Feminine head with a flat skull and pleasing expression. Firm topline, which she maintained on the move, presenting a tidy overall outline. Moved soundly and confidently around the ring. A quality bitch with many virtues, but today the winner had the edge in overall breed type and ring presence.
