Rough Collie Critique

I would like to thank the committee of Oakengates & District Canine Association for inviting me to judge Rough Collies and for their warm hospitality. My thanks also go to all the exhibitors who entered and accepted my decisions so graciously. I thoroughly enjoyed my appointment and appreciated the quality of the dogs presented to me.

JUNIOR

1st — Takhisis Lady Is A Tramp

A very feminine and promising seven-month-old tricolour puppy with a lovely, balanced outline. She has a clean, wedge-shaped head with dark, almond-shaped eyes, giving her the sweetest expression. Well proportioned throughout, she moved soundly and steadily for her age. Beautifully presented and handled, with plenty of time on her side to mature. 

POST GRADUATE

1st — Beldones Rich Velvet

A very feminine bitch with a detailed, well-balanced head and excellent expression, enhanced by her well-placed ears, which she used to advantage. She has a beautiful shape and balanced outline, with an excellent reach of neck flowing into well-placed shoulders and good length of foreleg. Strong, well-constructed quarters enabled her to move soundly and effortlessly around the ring. Beautifully presented and a worthy Best of Breed winner.

2nd — Didek Once In A Blue Moon

A masculine, well-balanced three-year-old blue merle of good colour, shown in excellent coat and condition. Clean, well-proportioned head with almond-shaped eyes and well-placed ears, giving a pleasing expression. Strong, arched neck, good depth of chest and well-sprung ribs. Moved soundly with good reach and drive, although his slightly high tail carriage spoiled his outline on the move. Beautifully presented.

1st — Gib Ch Serenlas Angel Of Casatentola

A very feminine tricolour bitch with a beautiful, balanced outline. Her clean, refined head, dark almond-shaped eyes and neat, well-placed ears combine to give a sweet and appealing expression. Lovely arched neck flowing into well-placed shoulders, with good depth of chest, a firm topline and well-angulated, muscular hindquarters. Moved soundly and freely with good reach and drive, maintaining her lovely shape on the move. Beautifully presented.

2nd — Essanjay Fields Of Gold For Firesaga

A masculine shaded sable with a beautiful, balanced outline. Masculine head with a good muzzle and underjaw, almond-shaped eyes and well-used ears, although I would prefer them set slightly closer together and a little less depth through the skull to enhance his expression. Strong neck, although I would prefer a little more length, flowing into well-laid shoulders. Good bone, neat feet, well-developed chest and a firm topline. Muscular, well-angulated hindquarters enabled him to move soundly with good reach and drive. Presented in a rich coat of excellent condition and texture.
