Breed: Cocker Spaniels, English Springer Spaniels, Welsh Springer Spaniels

Goosnargh & Longridge Agricultural Society – Saturday 11th July 2026

A big thank you to David Howarth and the committee at Goosnargh & Longridge Agricultural Society for inviting me to judge Cocker Spaniels, English Springer and Welsh Springer Spaniels — it was a fabulous day. I’m especially grateful to my fantastic stewards, who did a stellar job at keeping the ring running efficiently throughout the morning.

Cocker Spaniel

Puppy (1 Entry) Abs: 0

1st – Proudler’s Kimapa Kuromi Karrot

10-month-old Orange Roan bitch with a lot to like. She is square and compact. Nice head shape with square muzzle, well set ears. Good depth of chest, developing well for her age. Good spring of ribs with short loin. Her coat is lovely, flat to the body with good silky texture. She really comes alive on the move; her tail never stopped! Completely at one with her handler. Happy to award her Best Puppy in Breed.

Junior (1 Entry) Abs: 0

1st – Davies’ Annaside Wish Upon a Star

14-month-old Black Bitch, whose presentation really is first class. She has a feminine head with distinct stop and beautiful melting expression. Nice reach of neck and fine shoulder. Good front assembly. She is well developed all through, showing good width and depth of chest. Tail well set, and good bend of stifle with let down hocks. She moved round the ring effortlessly in the heat, displaying reach and drive from the rear, using her tail well as she went. Happy to award her Best of Breed and thrilled to hear she later went Reserve Best in Show.

Post Graduate (3 Entries) Abs: 0

1st – Leyland’s Crankwoods Quick Step JW

2-year-old Black Dog. He has a good masculine head with a soft expression. Neck and shoulders flow nicely into a well angulated front. There is no denying this boys masculinity, showing strength throughout with compact body, well sprung ribs and strong topline which he held on the move. Displayed good drive from rear, with good tail action. Happy to award Reserve Best of Breed.

2nd – Walker’s Andalasia Gunfire

2-year-old Blue Roan Dog, who is maturing nicely, presenting a square outline when stacked, not overdone in any way. Very balanced head piece, distinct stop and well-set ears. His angulation is moderate and balanced both front and rear. Another who has a strong and sturdy body with good ribs. Well-muscled all throughout. On the move he went out steadily with good drive, would benefit from more tail action.

3rd – Proudler’s Kimapa Kwackers Kwtch

1st – Calvert’s Calvdale Infinity

11-month-old liver and white bitch who immediately caught my eye. Such a lovely type, with a well-balanced outline with everything in the right place. Delightful head with soft expression. Clean neck leading to sloping shoulders. Very good strength and depth in body for her age. Her angulation front and rear is moderate and balanced. Good tight feet. Moved out very well, showing the typical action for the breed, covering the ground with ease and holding her outline. I will follow her career with interest, happy to award Best of Breed and Best Puppy in Breed.

1st – Calvert’s Calvdale Lizzie Stark

Litter sister to puppy class winner, this bitch has many of the same remarks. She too presents a lovely outline, with everything flowing together nicely. Feminine head piece, with good eye shape and colour. She is well boned and shows maturity in her well-developed chest and spring of rib. Her coat was presented in fabulous condition. As above she moved out well with ease showing efficient ground covering action, just found her slightly narrower behind than her sister. Again, will watch how she progresses with interest.
