Thankyou to Tania and the committee who invited me to judge at one of my long standing favourite shows on the local open show calendar. I had a well filled utility group and also some quality filled variety and stakes classes. The JW qualifier was a first for me, and with around 70 dogs in it, it goes without saying some very worthy dogs weren’t even selected for the shortlist and wish them luck in another heat.

G1 611 - Ch Ivyjewel Cast A Spell JW, Breed: Boston Terrier (Miss H Roulston)

This young boston stood out in well filled group with her super smart outline, so well put together and foot perfect. Square, compact, alert and shapely with very correct angulation.

G2 767 - Exalon Dangerous Moonlight over Dageo, Breed: Poodle (Standard) (Mr D M & Mrs G Marflitt)

G3 703 - Ch Phixons Straumann ShCEx, Breed: Japanese Shiba Inu (Miss C Roskell)

Lovely head and expression, using ears well. Clean neck and firm topline and tail set high and carried over the back well. Moved with a good action and held outline well. Presented in good hard condition.

G4 673 - Olijah Striptease, Breed: French Bulldog (Miss O Timms)

Quality frenchie baby who must have a bright future, brindle, super head and expression, round lustrous eyes, well placed ears and good width of muzzle. Good for neck and topline, gently roached and good bone on the leg. Sets up a treat.

G3 736 - Burnsett Obsidian at Corroll, Breed: Lhasa Apso (Ms J Hazelhurst)

Black Lhasa, wouldn’t want much more of him but well made, with a firm topline, high set tail and good carriage. Well muscled rear, strong bone in front and good width of chest. Attractive head with strong muzzle and good nose pad. Coat presented to a very high standard.

G4 744 - Soletrader Eleanorrigbi TAF, Breed: Miniature Schnauzer (Mr T B Braithwaite)

Smart mini bitch with bags of potential, again presented in a good coat with harsh texture, so cleanly angled with a good topline and tailset. Nice length of neck with holds her feminine head well with alert expression and nice length of muzzle. Clean moving from all directions.

Super boston who excelled in head, full of expression, lustrous eyes, square muzzle. Body shape spot on with good front and rear angulations and clean moving. The Boston judge today must have had some lovely exhibits.

G3 626 - Kenbloom Galadriel, Breed: Bulldog (Miss J Bond)

Strong headed with clear eyes and correct jaw. Fantastic bone with a super width of chest, typical topline and moved well, not at all hindered by the stifling heat this afternoon.

G4 660 - Eclair Cerera De Elka Gyvybes Zyme for Leyenda (Imp Ltu), Breed: French Bulldog (Ms L Foley)

Brindle, again, handling the heat late in the day well, nicely headed with well positioned ears of good size, good neck and unexaggerated topline and setting up well on the stand.

Another strong headed exhibit, a touch smaller in the eye but thick and nicely positioned ears. Decent neck and topline with high set tail carried nicely over the back, Good width and depth of chest, just preferred the balanced outline of 1. RBOB.

BOB & BP. Lovely dog pup of 9 months who for me was perfectly balanced and just the right size at this moment in time. Classic head and expression, lovely flame shaped ears which are held well and forward facing. Sparkling dark eyes and strong muzzle. Good for neck length, and a nice unexaggerated gentle curve on the back. Body and coat condition spot on and he moves so cleanly with precision. 

2ND 1028 - Ettology Stand and Deliver of Pendlethrine (Mrs C Pendlebury)

Similar aged lad of a large frame, good head and expression and uses his ears well. Neck with arch, and slight curve on his topline. Much more up on the leg but his bone is fairly fine and straight. Moved steadily at a good pace.

RBOB. 3 year old male, masculine frame, perhaps the slightest bit longer in loin that 2 but preferred his more typical topline. He has a strong head peace, wedge shaped in appearance, dark, sparkling, almond eyes, well positioned ears which he uses well. Good for neck, with slight arch, well muscled rear quarters and good sprung rib. Moved positively but felt his front could be a bit tidier. Presented well.

2ND 1027 - Ettology Small Gods of Pendlethrine (Mrs C Pendlebury)

2 year old dog, not a bad shape but topline lacking that curve that we expect. That being said, fairly compactly built, attractive in head and quite tidy on the move.

Topline firm, just the right amount of neck an impressive head with correct dome to skull, good ear placement, dark round large eyes and upturned underjaw. I believe won the Toy Group also.

BOB & BP, Group 2 and Puppy Group 1. Super balanced stallion of a dog already and still a puppy, just. Fab bone and substance, short backed with good depth of chest and firm topline and high set to tail. Strong thigh, good muscletone and well angulated. Front straight, good width of chest between and tidy feet. Graceful neck, good length and beautiful heat with lengthy muzzle, striking dark almond shaped eyes and good mouth. Presented in tip top condition and moved with both power and elegance.

This bitch not quite a year old, a touch shorter in back but still a fairly nice framework under an already dense coat. Topline and tailset good with an attractive head. Moved with a good action and kicking up on the rear.

BOB. 13 month old bitch, really liked her overall shape and balance. She was also presented in a good dense clean jacket . Attractive head and expression, good stop, large round eyes with space between and good width of muzzle. Strong neck and firm topline with a well sprung rib which provided good width between the front legs. Tail set high, carried typically over the back and made good use of her rear end to get around the ring.

Litter sister to the puppy winner, similar stamp, good for topline and tailset, decent bone and good head and eyes. Moved cleanly and with a powerful rear action.

8 ½ year old bitch this time, again typical shape and outline, sturdy, a touch shorter in back than 1 but still nicely headed with bags of expression and will to be there. Moved well for age and still in a good dense coat.

BP & RBOB. Black and tan dog of 11 months, well proportioned and balanced in outline, topline level, tail set and carriage good and stood on large rounded feet. Head pleasing also, strong in muzzle and eyes of correct size and positioning. Present nicely and moved steadily around the ring.

Black bitch, not quite 2 years of age and smaller in stature but quite correct. Square in outline with firm topline and tail carried nicely over the back. Good neck length and well proportioned headpiece with dark round eyes and strong muzzle. Straight in front and well bent stifle on the rear, moving well with drive.

Black bitch, 4 year old, ok for shape with firm topline and good tailset, coat of good texture, strong neck and attractive head and eye. Good bone in front and rear. Lacked a little drive on the move and could be a touch tidier coming towards but presented very well.

BOB, Black bitch, litter mate to SY winner, very similar stamp, liked the size and balance, square silhouette, good shoulder lay and well angulated on the rear which enabled that driven flowing movement, topline kept on the move. Good for rib and decent bone on a straight front and good round feet. Headed proportions good, eyes are round, dark, set nicely apart and muzzle is strong. 

2ND 806 - Kelmorespitz’s Love N’war (Miss L C Thomas)

Dark sable bitch, similar ages to winner, presented in good coat and condition. Nicely headed, feminine expression, round in the eye. A touch more narrow in front to 1 but straight bone and good round feet. Topline level, tail set high on and nicely angulated rear.

Frenchie male, brindle, excels in head, loved his expression and round full eyes. Good wide muzzle and width of underjaw. Neck good, decent spring of rib, enough roach over the loin and strong bone in the legs. He has a nice profile moving around the ring.

Mini Schnauzer male, similar age, nicely present and holding a decent outline, could be a fraction shorter in loin but topline firm and good straight front and clean rear angulations. Moved with a good action.

Well sprung rib, straight front and well set up rear quarters which powered her around the ring with ease. Head proportions good, with a good length of muzzle and good pigment on the nose and ample furnishings.

Front straight, nice tidy feet. Good arch to neck holding a typical head shape, broad in skull, smallish eyes of correct shape and using ears well to provide and alert expression. Swift movement t and light on his feet. All the way to BVIS I was told.

Black lab bitch at 7 months, full of personality, well bodied with well sprung ribcage and width of chest. Bones and substance throughout, topline firm enough and lashing tail. Good front and rear set up and strong yet feminine head and expression and a good strong neck set in to well laid shoulders. Moved with animation.

A big strongly made girl, such a lovely head and expression, domed skull and lengthy ears, good for topline, good ribs with decent depth and good strong bone in the legs and stood on round feet. Presented in a the correct harsh coat and moved at just the right pace to show her striding action.

8 year old who got the very best out of this whippet, good rapport with the dog and did everything at a pace that suited the dog, never impeding my view of the exhibit.

7 year old who again, did everything they could to show the dog of to best potential. Sympathetically handled and moved at an appropriate speed.

This handler was again making sure this mini wire dachs was shown to their best potential, handled with care and attention to get the best from the dog whilst staying in the background at all times. The dog was moved at an appropriate pace and presented to perfection.

Another handler already getting the best out of the dog, well presented and moved at the correct pace for the dog whilst never getting between my eye line and the exhibit.

1ST 818 - Ch Kiltondale Miley Cyrus JW (Mr G & Mrs L Peirson)

Heading a super class of some of the very best exhibits, was the bearded collie bitch who just oozed quality. Spot on for shape and balance with a good length of body, and so well put together under her very correct and pristinely presented coat, and a broad skull, bags of expression in her eyes and she just moved a treat and covered the ground so well.

2ND 745 - Ch Wellingley Won for The Road JW (Mr T B Braithwaite)

Very stylish Mini Schnauzer, excels in outline, fairly square with a super strong neck and firm topline. His front and rear angles are set up naturally and his coat texture and presentation is spot on. Very attractive in head, neat ears, and dark eyes and good brows give him his correct alert expression. Smart and confident mover.

3RD 672 - Ch Olijah Coming for You JW (Miss O Timms)

Smart frenchie who stood like a rock and held a good balanced outline but also very much alive on the move and clean moving. Good for body shape and unexaggerated topline and equally good head qualities.

RES 431 - Hydebeck Dream to Love JW (Ms C L Pinkney)

Impressive wolfhound, presented in a good harsh coat and a good strong frame, lovely deep chest and straight bone. 

VHC 561 - Watercroft Time Flies JW (Mrs R Gee)

Naughty little Norfolk who oozed breed type and has a super head and expression, with tidy well placed and well used ears. Presented in good hard condition. A little unruly on the move but once settled looked a treat.
