HOUND GROUP; from a young school boy some 45 years ago, I have spent many happy days with the society & was thrilled to be asked to judge for this wonderful hard working committee. The venue has character that never changes & although can be challenging if the weather is bad, everyone pulls together to make it work. As usual the refreshments where amazing & the atmosphere throughout the day reminded me of open shows of old & long may it continue. A wonderful collection of Hounds for me to access & a quality group that was a joy to judge, thank you for a truly memorable day

J 1st, BOB, BP & HPG1 Dawson’s STUBBYLEE BOOM LIKE THAT

2nd 307 Mr A , Mr N & Mrs E Dawson’s STUBBYLEE INTO THE MYSTIC, litter brother, same lovely type but obviously taking more time to develop & mature which is understandable, same beautiful head with so much detail to it, well made front, straight legs & very good feet, ribbing developing correctly with the desired top & underlines, tail correctly set & carried at all times, hard as nails throughout. Moves out correctly in profile even if a he is still full of puppyness, he has it all there to come. Certainly full of life with a very limited attention span!. Once again his coat & condition was exceptional

O (5, 2)

1st Ford’s MISCHRAN MIIKA , loved his overall balance & shape, he made the most of the small ring & was extremely sound with the correct gait in front & driving action from behind. Good head & masculine expression, very good shoulders, straight legs & strong pasterns. Very good ribbing with the desired backline, strong loins, quarters where so well muscled with ample angulation. Presented in great coat & pushed the puppy all the way, certainly a good honest hound

2nd Dawson’s MISCHRAN THE SEQUEL FOR STUBBYLEE JW, found him quite similar in shape & size. Another lovely detailed head with the desired work in it especially when viewed from above. Plenty of neck, well made front, correct width when viewed from front & rear, very good ribbing, enough quarters that are strong & so well muscled. Moves out correctly when viewed coming & going & certainly has style in profile, tough to split these two, here I felt the action of 1 in this ring was more typical & precise on the day

2nd 338 Ms K Barret’s STRANWITH THALIA, litter brother & a real head strong youngster with muscles any hound would be proud off. He is certainly a masculine version of his sister & the same comments apply. His stand out piece for me was his head, the blue print of the standard. He was a handful in this small area but his character, overall shape, coat & condition are a credit to his owner, I’m sure these two are fun to live with!
