Mid Western Gundog Society

Breed: Open Show

Gordon Setter

Y (1): 1 Clark’s DJ Bee Black Ivy (Imp), bitch of 2 years, appeals in outline with a strong level topline, well off for bone, good bend of stifle, well-muscled thighs, stands on good feet, handled well. I would prefer snugger elbows & more width to the rear on the move.

G (1): 1 RBOB Burke’s Cottonstones Dazzling Lad, 2 years & playful in spirit, good bone for size, well balanced angulation fore & aft, in good muscled condition throughout, scores on movement where he goes with gusto. Holds a strong level topline standing & moving.

O (1): 1 BOB Burke’s Ch Beechlake Hey Jude SGWC, bitch of 6 years, really lovely quality bitch, very sound & balanced. Lovely to go over & with a happy disposition. Holds her topline well standing & moving, good spring of rib, she is feminine but has bone & she moved with power. Smart & sound.

Irish Red & White Setter

P (1): 1 BP Clark’s Aislingwood Amber Fields, bitch of 7 months, raw baby with a nice shape in outline. Pretty head, strong topline, good rear angulation. She needs to fill out in front at the moment but that should hopefully come with age.

Y (1): 1 O’Connor’s Coolfin Whiskey In The Jar at Mackney, dog of nearly 2 years in incredibly fit condition throughout. Moved out well with strong rear pasterns. Strong bone through the forearms, good rear angulation. He is a little heavy for me through the head, neck & over the shoulders but he is definitely fit for function.

O (3, 1a): 1 BOB McDonald’s Sh Ch Roanjora Cremant D’Alsace JW, bitch of 3 years, incredibly hard to pick between her and her brother in second but in the end I preferred her front assembly. She is lovely quality & nice to go over, so well balanced, feminine but still strong, strong over the topline with taut loin, balanced fore & aft, good rear pasterns vertical to the ground. Moved out well and with enthusiasm. Quality bitch & well handled; 2 RBOB McDonald & Westwood’s Roanjora Cremant De Savoie avec Eusanit JW, litter brother to 1, really handsome & stately boy, makes his presence felt – hard to ignore. Good bone for size, holds a strong topline & flows, muscled through the loin & rear quarters, good bend to stifle & rear pasterns. In lovely body & coat condition. Moved well & handled with kindness & great skill.

Spaniel (Clumber)

P (2): 1 BP Boden’s Tweedsmuir Hankypanky among Suelynda, w/o bitch of nearly 10 months, lovely quality with good proportions & moved really true. A little shy on initial assessment, but lovely to go over, soundly made, good ribbing & preferred her through the front over 2 Laurence’s Gracedieu Sugar Fairy TAF, good bone for her size, good spring of rib, correct rear angulation. Not so together as 1 at present.

G (3, 1a): 1 RBOB Tilston’s Maursett Menelaus, w/l dog of nearly 3 years, sound to go over, good through the front, lovely eyes, holds a strong topline, good rear angles, strong rear pasterns, sound all through & moves very well; 2 Sainsbury’s Elskerwood Silver Lining, w/o bitch of 2 years, good eyes, good bone for size, correct proportions, stands a little 10 to 2 in the front which affects the topline. Drives well from the rear.

O (2): 1 BOB Sainsbury’s Elskerwoo Cloudy Skies JW, lovely quality, sound to go over, good eyes, in lovely coat & body condition, strong bone yet feminine, not exaggerated in anyway, drives away from strong rear pasterns. Very sound & balanced, quality exhibit; 2 Boden’s Sh Ch Suelynda Kreme Della Kreme, w/l bitch of 5 years. Pretty head in profile, clean & strong neck into shoulders, good ribbing, strong over the topline with taut loin, good rear angulation. Preferred the flowing effortless movement of 1.

Spaniel (Irish Water)

G (1): 1 BOB Hardy’s Cuboglach Tufted Skipper of Babanoddraig, bitch of 3 years, lovely head in side profile, strong muzzle, wide open nostrils, good ribbing, correct bend of stifle, well-muscled throughout. Would prefer more angle to the shoulder.

AV Working

OD (4, 1a): Such a tough class as I liked all of them! 1 Best AV Working Gundog, Bradley’s Sh Ch Highforce All Or Nothing JW ShCEx OSW, 5 years Hungarian Vizsla, mature, upstanding boy, stands over his ground & as fit as a fiddle. He is well off for bone, clean through the neck into shoulders, good rear angulation & drives off his rear quarters; 2 Nevers’ Tollelkin Dream Cove at Sheldrake JW AW(b) SGWC, 5 years Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, lovely quality, nice to go over, stands on lovely feet, strong topline, good ribbing, balanced angles fore & aft, lovely quality exhibit; 3 Moore’s Tenfield Klipspringer with Auryngra, Golden Retriever.

OB (2): 1 Kiddell’s Diamante Blu Regina Della Pace to Hameldowntor JW SGWC (Imp), Flatcoated Retriever, 3 ½ years old, appeals in outline, balanced with level topline & good angles fore & aft, in good condition. A little narrow & close behind on the move; 2 Pearson’s Fenway Glory, Labrador Retriever, yellow bitch of 2 years, very sound mover, doesn’t always hold topline on the stack but did on the move, good rear angulation & muscled thighs.
