Open Show

It was a pleasure to judge this club’s morning open show. There was a merry and welcoming band of committee led by secretary, Tina Watkins and a happy atmosphere prevailed all day with all class winners being applauded. Thank you to the exhibitors for entering your hounds. They were all shown in good condition and temperaments were exemplary.

Veteran Dog (1):

1. Woodworth’s Ch Armardio Fire Starer, 8.5 years red who still looks the part and has kept his shape, shown in most super condition, possesses substance with quality and it is clear to see why he has titled, lovely head and lozenge shaped eyes, free from exaggeration, well made in forequarters and hindquarters, correct ribbing and topline, sound on the move in all directions and keeps his outline in profile, he was pushed for RBD by Golden Nugget but he edged ahead to take RBD and RBIS;

Puppy Dog (1):

1. Webb’s Emilio Di Casa Dal Pino, 6 months baby with lovely extrovert temperament, well off for bone, pleasing hindquarters, would prefer better ribbing, rather wide in front and could carry more weight to advantage;

Junior Dog (1):

1. Emilio Di Casa Dal Pino

Novice Dog (1):

1. Emilio Di Casa Dal Pino

Post Graduate Dog (1):

1. Beale’s Malrich Moonwalker, just over two years of age, this dog was shown in lovely condition, great temperament, pleased in bone, excellent stern carriage, decent ribbing and pleasing topline held on the move, went well behind with drive, would just prefer a little more width of thigh;

Mid Limit Dog (1):

1. Davies and Palmer’s Bidon Guernica with Cefndandi, nearly four years, this big lad has good ribbing and is well bodied, moves well behind, would prefer less of him all over and fails rather in front which shows in front movement;

Limit Dog (2):

1. Gambling’s Dizandra Carpe Noctem, masculine hound without being overdone, shown in super condition, pleasing ribbing and good hindquarters, topline and stern carriage, moved with drive behind;

2. Hampton’s Big Longs Blue Prometheus for Bassluxe, well-muscled and shown in good condition, just preferred the front, ribbing and hind action of 1;

Open Dog (2):

1. Allchorne’s Nelgus Golden Nugget, 3 years r/w with a definite look of quality about him, really admired his head, eyes and leathers, very well made front, correct ribbing and loin to well made hindquarters, totally sound on the move, true fore and aft and goes with drive and freedom, slightly reluctant to use his stern at all times but would definitely make a worthy title holder, very close up for RBD;

2. Beale’s Woferlow Victorzsasz, pleasing overall type, in good condition although would look better with less weight, moved soundly but didn’t cover the ground like 1;

Baby Puppy Bitch (1)

1. Hampton’s Erica Van Grunsven at Bassluxe, only 16 weeks but a promising baby with a look of quality, adequate bone and free movement, shows promise;

Puppy Bitch (1):

1. No name in catalogue, pleasing type and shown in good condition, pleasing head and eye shape, decent front construction, well ribbed, correct topline and well angulated hindquarters, moved soundly, BPIS;

Novice Bitch (1):

1. Webb’s Dianican Ariel, what a great character this two years bitch is, very much an extrovert, shown in super condition and moved soundly, rather short backed for balance and a rather gay stern;

Post Graduate Bitch (1):

1. Allchorne’s Nelgus Cocoa Pop, three years and shown in really good condition, pleasing type and overall outline, well ribbed with good hindquarters, sound mover but she was reluctant to use her stern;

Mid Limit Bitch (2):

1. Pearson’s Amazing White Story with A Tail with Armardio, two years red and white, pleasing head shape and lozenge shaped eye, good leathers well set, well made front and hindquarters, well ribbed body and correct topline, really goes with drive behind from the hock and true in front, looks good in profile where she maintains her outline and shows strength, power and endurance, very pleasing overall, RBB;

2. McLean’s Lauralee Dreams of Magic at Stookewood, this bitch pushed hard, quite different to 1 but has many admirable qualities, I particularly liked her good head planes and well set leathers, good shoulders with her elbows sitting well against her well ribbed body, pleasing hindquarters, well set and carried stern and very good feet, sound free mover, has a look of class;

Limit Bitch (3):

1. Woodworth’s Woodrich Precipitous Prudie, this bitch has a look of quality, looks totally unexaggerated but still full of breed type, feminine all through and has good balance, feminine head and good eye, well made front with good shoulders and well ribbed back body, correct hindquarters and set on of stern, well muscled and shown in superb muscular condition, carrying just the right weight, she looks particularly well on the move where she is sound and true out and back, going with drive from well let down hocks, she looks good in side profile where she maintains her static outline, pleasure to award her BB;

2. Hampton’s Astra Van Grunsven at Bassluxe, lots to like about this one, I admired her head and eye shape, well ribbed body, correct substance, well set stern which is carried well on the move, sound true mover;

3. McLean’s Switherland Gabriella at Stookewood

Open Bitch (1):

1. Pearson’s Armardio Wind of Change, really typical red of 4 years, has a look of quality, very pleasing type, particularly liked her head and correct eye shape, well made fore and aft, well ribbed body with good ground clearance, well made hindquarters, sound true mover in all directions, pushed her kennelmate hard in the challenge for RBB;

Ch Lodway Lancer of Islwyn Champions Class

1. Woodworth’s Ch Armardiio Against The Wind, this 4 years red/white male is just about at his very best, shown in the most superb condition, gleams with condition and well-being, very pleasing in head, no mistaking him for a male but nothing overdone about him, correct eye shape and colour, well set leathers, fine in texture, well made front overall, good prosternum, very good topline and underline, well ribbed back body, superb hindquarters, well set stern which is carried so well at all times, very good mover behind and looks very well in profile where he covers the ground without effort maintaining his lovely outline at all times, pleasure to judge him again, BD and BIS;
