 Thank you to the Committee for inviting me to judge today and to my steward for her support. Thanks also to the exhibitors for their entries. I was delighted that I put through both the Terrier and Hound group winners, with my Basset Hound best of breed going on to take Reserve Best in Show. Congratulations to their owners.

1ST Bareve Relight My Fire at Shadymoore (Mrs A Golby)

 Very smart 20-month-old male with super head and expression, good stop and excellent ears. Strong neck going into an excellent front with super feet. Well sprung ribs of good length and balanced well-muscled hindquarters. Excellent topline, held on the move, with super harsh jacket. Lovely sound mover and full of attitude. A quality Dog who will no doubt do well. Best of breed.

1ST Lauralee Dreams of Magic at Stookewood (Mrs P A Mclean)

18-month-old Red and White with lovely feminine head, parallel head planes and good eye shape. Love set ears of good length with a good neck going into well laid shoulders and excellent prominent sternum and bone and feet. Balanced return of upper arm with nice tight elbows and good length of well sprung ribs and balanced hindquarters. Not happy on the move today but sound when she settled.

1ST Switherland Gabriella at Stookewood (Mrs P A Mclean)

Red and white bitch with super head, lovely depth of muzzle with good nose and parallel head planes. Lovely eye shape and good ear set with ears of good length. Strong neck going into a very good front with super bone and feet. Well sprung rib of good length and balanced hindquarters. Flagging a bit in the war weather today but a sound mover of super breed type.

1ST Nelgus Golden Nugget (Mrs C Allchorne)

Very handsome quality red and white male with a super head piece, good parallel planes and clean lozenge eye. Super ears of good length and domed skull with good occiput. Excellent strong neck going into well laid shoulders with balanced return of upper arm, tight elbows, prominent sternum and super bone and feet. Well sprung ribs of good length with strong loin and excellent top line and ground clearance. Superb strong hindquarters with super drive on the move and lovely smooth action in profile. Delighted to award this quality hound best of breed and watch him go on to win the Hound Group and Reserve Best in Show.

1ST Stowthorney One Fine Day (Mr R & Ms J Brewster & Green)

 8-month bitch with lovely otter head, good expression and dark pigment with good bite. Super neck going into a very good front with enough spring of rib for age and excellent feet. Strong loin and balanced moderate hindquarters with good coat and pelt. Sound up and back, balanced an unexaggerated with lovely type and size. Best Puppy. 

2ND Otterbobs Gurnal (Mr J R & Mrs H Gilpin)

 6-month-old who is still raw but loved her head and expression. Super otter head with strong jaws and excellent ears. Super neck going into a very good front with good shoulders and excellent feet. Good ribs with sufficient spring and balanced moderate hindquarters. Lovely mover and nice coat coming through. Just lacked the maturity of the winner.

 20-month-old bitch who has super breed type. Loved her head and expression with lovely dark eye and super underjaw. Excellent neck going into a well-made front with super feet. Excellent coat texture with good ribs and strong loin going into a balanced moderate back end. Most together on the move in this class. 

2ND Borderrush Riscal Rioja (Miss A J Hall)

13-month-old bitch of a racier type than the winner who has a pleasing head and good eye shape. Strong neck going into a fair front but still needs to fill in chest and strengthen in loin. Strong hindquarters and good movement going away although still quite loose in front. A promising youngster with plenty to like.

1ST Otterbobs Indeedido JW (Mr J R & Mrs H Gilpin)

 20-month-old bitch who has the most super head and eye shape, super ears and nice strong jaw with good teeth. Excellent neck going into a super front with excellent feet and moderately sprung ribs. Super harsh jacket and good pelt with balanced moderate hindquarters and very sound mover. Super topline which she held on the move. A quality example who I was happy to award best of breed to and delighted to see she won the Terrier Group. Her owners informed me she has recently gained her title and I am not surprised.  

2ND Bluebabel Your Song (Mr K P & Mrs N B Yeates)

 Another lovely Border, this time an 18-month-old male who had an excellent head and expression with strong muzzle and nice dark eye. Super neck and front with excellent feet. Balanced ribs with moderate spring and strong loin with moderate strong hindquarters. Excellent coat texture and another super mover. I felt the bitch just had the edge on maturity yet another quality example of this breed.

 4-year-old bitch with lovely head and eye shape and nice strong muzzle. Good front and feet with good ribs and strong loin. Best topline in this class and most together on the move. Super coat and pelt and one with plenty to like.

2ND Comalegy The Countess with Fiadhaich JW (Miss A A & Miss M Lawrence & Scrimgeour)

 Feminine head although eyes a touch rounder. Overall, a good head with good ears and going into a decent neck and front. Moderate racy hindquarters and nice harsh jacket. A workmanlike bitch who moved soundly and was unexaggerated.

 10-month-old mustard puppy with a good head, strong jaws and nice eye shape. Good top knot coming through and good ear set. Front still needs to come together but has ribs of good length and balanced hindquarters. Still has their puppy coat and has a lot of maturing to do but showing plenty of promise. Best Puppy.

1ST Fabio Z Meduňkové Stráně (Imp Cze) (Ms Npk & Mr Pe Hoskisson & Hinds). 1 year old salt and pepper male with a super head and expression and lovely eye shape. Strong underjaw with well set ears of good length. Well laid shoulders with good return of upper arm and nice tight elbows. Ribs of good length and nice topline with gentle rise over the loin, and strong muscled hindquarters. Super coat and presentation, and moved well, just lacked the maturity of the open winner.

3-year-old mustard bitch with a feminine head and well-set ears. Nice length of neck and good shoulders but elbows could be tighter. Well sprung ribs with a good topline and balanced hindquarters. Moved well in profile but wider coming at you.

 Smart 4-year-old mustard male with lovely overall proportions and breed type. Super head and expression with lovely round eyes and strong jaws. Excellent top knot and low set ears with good length of neck. Super front and forechest with good shoulders, balanced return of upper arm and nice tight elbows. Good feet and ribs of good length and spring and good arch over the loin with nice coat texture. Balanced hindquarters with very sound and together movement. Best of breed.

 Quality puppy with masculine head, lovely eye shape and expression and strong under jaw. Good flat skull with good stop and well-set ears. Strong neck going into a super front with good return of upper arm and super feet. Well sprung ribs for age with strong loin and balanced hindquarters. Super coat texture and sound balanced mover. Easy best puppy winner and strongly considered for best of breed, however, did not want to move so well in the challenge.   

2ND Kaszavolgyi-Furge Ophelia (Miss C Rushforth)

Very feminine 6-month-old bitch with good flat skull and nice eye shape. Good length of neck going into a very good front and excellent feet. Ribs of good length and spring for age, and a strong loin with nice balanced hindquarters. Lovely mover in profile, not as together as the winner coming towards you.

1ST Tiltser Take It to The Limit (Mr D I & Mrs J A Thornley & Smith)

20-month-old male with lovely head and eye shape, nice flat skull and good strong jaws. Excellent neck going into a super front with good bone and feet. Nice spring of rib with strong loin and hindquarters giving good drive at the rear on the move. Lovely harsh jacket and plenty to like about this promising youngster. 

 2nd Kasavolgyi-furge kiara of Campionfield (Miss C Rushforth) 

 Smaller bitch who scored well in head being feminine with good eye shape and expression. Not as positive in front as the winner but has good spring of rib and a good topline and coat texture. Moved OK, just needs to come together in front movement.

1St. Dancing in the Dar at Robythorn (Mr D and Mrs J Thornley and Smith) 

Male with super head and expression, strong underjaw, flat skull and excellent ears. A bit heavy over the shoulders and perhaps a touch bigger than I’d want in a Jack. Well sprung ribs with well angulated hindquarters and a good mover in profile. A touch out at the elbows in front, however. 

2ND Jackopeaks Peaches Legacy (Mrs D & Miss W Kay & Smith)

Feminine bitch with lovely eye shape, flat skull and good underjaw. Good length of neck although shoulder lay could be better, slightly out at elbows coming at you. Good topline however and strong hindquarters with good harsh jacket. Close decisions between 1st and 2nd.

Two very nice males, both quite different in type. 

1ST Blazingjacks Best Mate with Jackopeaks (Mrs D Kay)

 4-year-old male who I preferred in head to 2nd. Lovely flat skull with super eye and expression and nice ears. Strong neck going into an excellent front with super feet and well laid shoulders. A touch longer in loin, however ribs of good length and well sprung with super harsh jacket. Strong hindquarters with super drive on the move and excellent in profile. I’d like him a touch more compact for perfection however in today’s entry was the most together in the challenge and happy to award Best of Breed. 

2ND Fast Love with Locheil ShCEx (Mr D I & Mrs J A Thornley & Smith)

 6-year-old male with a good head and nice eye shape and ears. Good strong neck but not quite the front of the winner. Well sprung ribs with good strong hindquarters. Has a tendency to dip in topline when stood, however level on the move and sound in movement.

 10-month-old male with lovely head and expression, super ears and good markings. Good neck going into a very good front with desired thumb marks and nice feet. Good top and underlines with correct cut up and balanced hindquarters. Super coat texture and lovely movement. Best Puppy. 

2ND Wystry Purple Destiny (Mr G & Mrs M Davies-Brown)

 Unsettled today however did enough to earn her place. Nice head although a touch rounder in eye with good underjaw and nice ears. Strong neck going into a good front with good topline and nice cut up. Balanced hindquarters. Unhappy on the move and tending to pace today. One who needs time.

 Lovely wedge-shaped head with super underjaw and lovely dark almond eye and very good ears. Strong neck going into a very good front and nice depth of chest. Good enough top and under lines although could have more rise over the loin. Most together on the move in this class however and well-marked with good coat and colour.  

2ND Talanors Typical Tanzanite (Mr C & Mrs G Knight)

Feminine bitch with good head although eye shape a touch round. Excellent length of neck with very good front and super markings. Nice gentle rise over the loin and balanced front and back when stood however not as settled on the move as the winner. 

3RD Wystry Purple Destiny (Mr G & Mrs M Davies-Brown)

 Wedge shaped head with good almond eye and good ears. Strong neck going into well laid shoulders and good return of upper arm. Nice cut up although topline could be better. Most together on the move in this class.

2ND Talanors True Magic (Mr C & Mrs G Knight)

 Very nice bitch for type with feminine head and lovely almond eye and expression. Elegant neck going into a very good front with good top and under lines and balanced hindquarters. Sadly, untidy on the move today which lost her the class. 

3RD Bacolibay's Shrike (Miss L & Mr G Bailey & Hancocks)

1ST Ch Talanors Typically Elite (Mr C & Mrs G Knight)

 Quality 6 year old male with super wedge shaped head, lovely dark almond eye and good high set ears. Excellent markings, coat and colour. Lovely length of neck going into a very good front with good feet. Excellent depth of chest with good cut up and lovely gentle rise over the loin giving a super top line. Balanced hindquarters and very sound mover with good reach and drive. A quality male who I was happy to award best of breed to. No surprise to see he has his title. 

2ND Rattustrap Crimes at Night JW (Miss L & Mr G Bailey & Hancocks)

Another quality male, wlthugh not quite as mature as the winner. Super head and expression with excellent markings and very good ears. Excellent neck going into a very good front with good top and under lines and balanced moderate hindquarters. Not as positive moving in front as the winner but overall a quality terrier.

 Cream male who still has some maturing to do, he has a lovely head and expression with good skull and underjaw and lovely dark eye. Good length of neck going into well laid shoulders with balanced return of upper arm and super feet. Nice depth of chest although still needs to fill and mature in body. Excellent topline and balanced moderate hindquarters. Moved well with light flowing action. Best of breed.

Grey male of super type with excellent head, strong jaws and super eye shape and expression. Excellent ears going into a strong neck with good lay of shoulders and balanced return of upper arm. Still needs to mature in body but ribs are of a good length with an excellent level topline and well-balanced hindquarters. Super coat texture and presented beautifully. Best of Breed.

I really enjoyed judging this class where some quality exhibits went cardless. Three of my four placed dogs were 6 and over which shows that maturity really does count and I was pleased to learn that all four were CC or RCC winners in their respective breeds. 

1ST Ch Xingbao Summer Inspiration at Chifido (Ms J Webb)

Quality Black Chow Chow who caught my eye. Super type and substance with strong masculine leonine head, super dark clean eye and lovely small rounded ears. Excellent pigment and blue tongue with correct bite. Super strong neck going into an excellent front with strong bone and excellent feet. Well sprung ribs with short compact loin and balanced moderate hindquarter with very slight bend of stifle. Super coat texture and tail and presented in excellent condition. Lovely sound typical mover with short parallel action that typifies the breed. A top class example of this breed with correct reserved temperament and excellent breed type.

2ND Silkwhite Dreams Fun and Zen JW Cw’26 Cjw’26 Cib-J (Mrs M & Mrs C Georgiou & Wong-Curley)

 Beautiful Maltese who has super head and expression, excellent pigment and beautiful white coat. Lovely lay of shoulders with balanced return of upper arm and super topline. Well set tail with balanced well angulated hindquarters and super sound movement. He just flowed around the ring and held his tail and topline. A quality young dog who will do well I am sure.
