My warmest gratitude to the committee for inviting me to judge at their show, it was a great venue with good size, rings and fabulous catering. I was spoilt for choice, so a huge thank you to the exhibitors for their support to both the show and myself. A noteworthy thank must go to the stewards for keeping everything running smoothly across both rings. A fore note across all breeds, many exhibitors were a little distracted by the surface and the sudden echoing nature of the speakers during announcements.

2nd Lykath’s the Pirate King, Culverhouse Mr J D
6-year-old Male, holds similar merits to 1st place, but seemed a little distracted/unsettled on the move which detracted from his topline being held consistently, for brief moments a positive brisk movement was present.

Rhodesian Ridgeback
I would like to take this moment to thank the exhibitors in this breed firstly for a super entry but also for the outstanding quality in type and movement across all classes, it made decisions a little tricky at times, but what a fabulous opportunity to have hands on. All ridges and crowns were of good lay, length and direction. Dentition on the day was correct.
Class 210 – Puppy (4/1)
1st Oostblik Rivier Annan, Kapma-Saunder, Mrs C R
8-Month-old female who just oozes potential. Great symmetry for her age with super balance throughout. A very pleasing head type, good breadth to skull, stop defined, good length of muzzle, lips not too loose. Chest sits above the elbow with ample room to mature. Height to length ratios complement the overall outline nicely. Tone of muscle is coming through well and compliments an effortless if not still a little raw movement. Ground well covered and one to watch through maturity I suspect.
2nd Tambyssa’s the Temptress, Adderley, Miss J
7-month-old female, slightly lighter in colour tone than 1st, but does not take away from her feminine qualities. Sweet expression, well-proportioned skull and correct features. Promising length of neck, nice bone and depth of chest with adequate spring of rib at this stage. Straight through profile. Moved well with purpose but immaturity leaves her a touch high in the rear which affects the topline, but should come right in time.
Class 211 – Junior (1/0)
1st Voorlooper Raadi Mosi, Whitney, Ms S D
9-month-old Male, another youngster with great potential, initially a little aloof but settled quickly. Ample breadth to skull, flat top, ears in proportion. Good substance coming through on the neck with a pleasing length transitioning smoothly into a balanced angulated fore and aft. Chest depth shows a promising allowance for maturity. Firm tone of muscle coverage is present particularly over the loin. An effortless moving puppy with purpose. Just pipped puppy Winner in the challenge on movement. But they could swap places easily on another day. BP
Class 212 – Post Graduate (4/2)

A lovely 2-year-old female throughout. A head of correct type and proportions. Sweet, alert expression. A feminine outline with a nice length of neck. A straight front in balance and proportion of all that proceeds it. A particularly pleasing turn of stifle. Moved with grace and freedom covering the ground well with a static topline. RBOB
2nd Kiromol Reckon I’m Hot, Healey, Mr J & Mrs K S
A well maturing almost 3-year-old female, A little unsettled at first but once settled presented herself pleasantly. A head of good type, not too course, proportioned and well set. Firm neck of good length, showing off sloping shoulder with a nice lay of muscle development. Spring of rib ample. A promising mover, but just preferred the stifle of 1st.
Class 213 – Open (9/5)
1st Diamondridge Dreadnought JW, Barnes Miss K J
At just shy of 3 years old this boy just punches quality. Masculine head but not too coarse, well defined features showing breadth and fair length. His eyes show intelligence whilst remaining focused on the handler. Strong clean neck of good length. Balanced fore an aft. Correct depth of chest for age with just enough space left for maturity. Strong pasterns, firm topline, well-developed tone of muscle. Desirable turn of stifle allowing a striking presence of smooth free movement with no energy wasted. What a fabulous boy! A credit to the handler. Was pleased to hear he was placed in the group. BOB
2nd Nuthouse Going for Gold JW, Hicks, Mr J & Mrs S
Only a month in age separates 1st and 2nd, but smaller margins split the equally desirable merits of this girl. Clean feminine outline, excellent front and rear assembly. Super tone of muscle and coverage, not too heavy nor too light. Firm loin of good length. Excellent turn of stifle. Held her topline well on the move, true out and back but preferred the ease of drive of 1st.
Whippets
Unfortunately, the original judge had to withdraw, it was at short notice I stepped in for this breed so the entry was not of my doing. A thank you is needed to the exhibitors who made the journey on the day irrespectively.
