PG (1) 1. Goddard & Bailey’s Langstrumpf Lizzy Dripping. 2 year old bitch, of solid build and in good condition. Gentle expression with brown eyes set well under her brows, low set ears and plenty of brain room. Pleasing from the front, with tidy elbows and straight forelegs. Nice body properties, with good spring of rib and strong loin. On the move she had a tendency to drop her head and not stride out to her full potential, but she was true on the out and back. I think a change of lead could give her handler more control and improve her performance. RBOB.

O (2) 1. Watkins & Phillips’ Sh Ch Flaxheath Cover Girl At Glenmaurangi JW. A quality 2 ½ year old bitch. Beautiful, refined head with clean muzzle and intelligent expression. Good reach of neck, with slight arch, set into sloping shoulders. Well angulated, with moderate length to her body, a strong topline and correctly angulated pelvis. Her coat is flat and in excellent condition. Eyecatching on the move, with an effortless driving action, correct from all angles, using her tail well. BOB.   2. Tong’s Benbuie Rose Quartz With Kellizlot. 10 year old bitch in super, muscular condition, with a hint of silver on her muzzle which only adds to her charm. She has a lovely head and expression, with kind, dark eyes. Good reach of neck set into well laid shoulders, elbows well let down and close to body. Good depth of chest and well sprung ribs. Long from hip to hock, with short rear pasterns. I liked her for type and called her back to challenge for RBOB, but she couldn’t match the youngsters’ co-ordination on the move today.

Irish Red & White Setters

Thank you to the Irish Red & White Setter Club of GB for sponsoring the classes.

P (1) 1. Taylor’s Fiainrua Stormtrooper. 7 month old dog, still a real baby and well up on his legs today. I liked his head and expression, with correctly shaped skull, clean muzzle and ears set level with dark brown eyes. Needs to develop in chest, but when stacked he has a tidy front, well covered ribs, a rounded croup and well angulated hindquarters. Lovely clean colouring. Once settled he showed a pleasing side gait, with driving hind movement. BP.

L (2,1) 1. McDonald & Westwood’s Roanjora Cremant De Savoie Avec Eusanit JW. 3 year old dog who meets the standard for a powerful athlete, without lumber. His head is masculine without being overdone, with good stop, correctly set ears and a mischievous glint in his eyes. Very muscular neck and shoulders, well sprung ribs, a short, strong loin and well rounded croup. Lovely width to his hindquarters, long from hip to hock with good bend of stifle. On the move he was determined to show how much he loved life, and in particular how much he loved his handler. Unfortunately he couldn’t take his eyes off her and this made him appear rather uncoordinated. I caught glimpses of a well balanced, ground covering stride when he finally settled on the around and I know that he is capable of so much more.

O (3) 1. McDonald’s Sh Ch Roanjora Cremant D’alsace JW. 3 year old litter sister to my 1st in Limit. Beautiful head and expression, neck moderately long, muscular and clean, set into good shoulders. Her front is well angulated, with tidy elbows and well boned forelegs. Good depth of chest, ribs well sprung, with a short, strong coupling. Well angulated hindquarters, with no exaggeration, completing a clean and balanced outline. Her movement is as per the breed standard, long, free striding and effortless with drive, with a lively tail action. I am so pleased that she has fulfilled the promise she had when I judged her as a very young puppy. BOB and later Group 3 under Tim Harrison (Glenbrows).   2. McDonald’s Sh Ch Rioja Crianza. 6 year old bitch, dam to my BOB and her qualities have definitely followed through. Another lovely head. Muscular neck and very well put together, with deep chest, good spring of rib and well angulated quarters. I preferred her overall balance to 3rd. Like her son, on the move she was rather erratic to start with, but settled enough to show sound movement with good reach and drive. RBOB.   3. Taylor’s Laoirebay Monte Carlo VW

Irish Setters

P (1) 1. George’s Dazycutter Fire Dancer. 9 ½ month old bitch who shows a lot of promise. She has a lean, feminine head with low set ears. Her neck is slightly arched, with enough length and a clean throat. Well constructed and balanced throughout with enough angulation. Good depth of chest, with decent spring of rib and muscular loin. Straight, chestnut coat with plenty of shine. Her movement was sound, coordinated and had the potential to show good drive. She just needs a little more confidence to stand tall and keep her head up, which should come with age. BP.

J (4,2) 1. Shepherd’s Casachared Mr Delaneys Son. 16 month old dog, well muscled with good bone, a clean outline and big personality. Masculine head with oval skull, low set ears and well defined occiput. Good reach of neck, muscular and slightly arched, flows cleanly into a straight, gently sloping topline. Well constructed forequarters with enough angulation and depth in brisket, good spring of rib and a strong loin. Powerful hindquarters with good bend of stifle. He was very enthusiastic on the move, which tended to make his front action slightly erratic, but he covered the ground well with plenty of drive from his hindquarters.   2. Shepherd’s Casachared Joleens Lady Red. Litter sister to 1st. Well balanced head, with low set ears and kind expression. Clean neck, not quite the angulation of the 1st, but tidy at the elbow, with straight forelegs and well arched toes. Enough depth to her chest, with good spring of rib and a short, strong loin, supporting a gently sloping topline. Strong, well balanced hindquarters and correctly set tail. She was straight and true on the move, but I preferred her brother’s length of stride.

PG (2) 1. Shepherd’s Casachared Mr Delaneys Son.   2. George’s Tagamago’s Wispa.
5 year old bitch who was a little overawed today at her first show. She has an oval skull with raised brows, ears set well back and hanging correctly. Well balanced with nothing overdone, a strong topline, nice body properties and a fine, straight coat. Showed a nice bond with her handler.

O (2) 1. Dale’s Trefaine Aurora Of Aubanjon. 4 ½ year old bitch, very traditional in type, who caught my eye the moment she entered the ring. Beautiful head and intelligent expression, with dark almond eyes. Muscular neck with enough length, set into excellent shoulders, elbows well let down and well boned forelegs. I preferred her forechest to 2nd, she has super depth and well sprung ribs carried well back to a short, muscular loin. Powerful, well angulated hindquarters and in excellent coat and condition. She moved freely, with perfect coordination, showing the untiring readiness to range that the breed standard requires and using her tail well. BOB and later awarded Reserve Best in Show under the group judge, congratulations.   2. Cole’s Riverbrue Ophelia Bobby. 4 year old male. A different type to 1st, but another super example of the breed. His head is masculine but well balanced with dark eyes and the kindest expression. He is strong without being overdone, with good bone and well sprung ribs. Well angulated and balanced, with his tail well set on, and dripping in a rich, chestnut coat of excellent quality. He moved well, but needed a little more speed and direction to really show himself off. RBOB.
