Golden Retrievers – Judge: Elizabeth Fisher

My gratitude to the exhibitors giving me the privilege of assessing their Golden Retrievers, all beautifully groomed and presented. I believe every exhibitor deserves courtesy and a judge interested in the breed. My aim is to judge to the standard and see the dog as a whole. A big thank you to my very efficient Steward, Sue Ross, who kept the ring moving perfectly.

MINOR PUPPY:

1st Harding’s Eveninghill Black Betty

Although alone in this class, very worthy of her first place. An appealing, feminine head, good reach of neck, flowing into correct layback and shoulder, wearing her beautiful puppy coat. Good topline and correct tail carriage held on the move. Moved with drive and good reach in front without exaggeration.

PUPPY:

1st Ward’s Laurenley Lady Sybil

Spoilt for choice in this class, splitting hairs for 1st and 2nd places. This lovely 11 month mature young lady demands attention. Pretty feminine head. Wearing her beautiful mid gold full coat, strong neck flowing into clean shoulders and level topline, stood four-square, neat feet. Moved beautifully at one with handler. BP

2nd Falconer’s Siatham Esmerelda

Another quality 10 month baby, pushed hard for 1st. Beautifully presented and handled. Cream coat covering a good-proportioned body, short coupled, excellent front and rear angles. Stepped out in style as she moved around the ring, she has a very promising show career, one to watch.

JUNIOR:

1st Stonebridge’s Toseland Two Can Have A Party

Won on maturity. Correct length of neck into well laid shoulders. Level topline from shoulder to tailset. Deep in chest and short coupled, good width of thigh. Strong muscled body dressed in a well presented cream coat. Sound movement, handled to advantage.

2nd Cowper’s Laurenley Lady Mary for Garmoran

Pretty young lady in her cream coat with gold tinge, needing more undercoat. Gentlest of expressions, black pigment. Good reach of neck into level topline. Moved out briskly but lacked a little substance which will come with maturity.
