Royal Cheshire County Show 2026

Sincerest thanks to the committee of this friendly and well organised show for inviting me to judge, and for their hospitality throughout the day.

Weimaraner

Junior 1, 0

1st Pilatova’s Sabsky Spilberk. Feminine youngster with a kind facial expression, she has plenty of stop and correct skull proportions with good length of ear and desired dentition. A clean neck, good front assembly, well sprung ribs and firm loin. She has strong pasterns and moved well but lacked the drive of my BOB winner; she is still young and I feel she needs to tighten over time.

Limit 2, 1

1st Pilatova’s Sabsky Sasanka. A veteran bitch enjoying her day out. She has a deep amber eye and a wise look about her. Good angles fore and aft, well laid shoulders, ribs well back and good topline. She has a nice frame displaying correct length of back and I suspect in her younger years would have been quite a tidy bitch. Once settled she moved well but could not compete with her younger counterparts in the challenge.

Open 3, 2

1st Pilatova’s Sabsky Svratka JW. One I have judged before and still rate. She has a good head; feminine without lacking substance with all desired breed traits. A strong, clean neck and smooth layback of shoulder into a level topline with correct croup and tailset. Good front assembly, brisket to elbow, well sprung ribs, firm loin and slight tuck up. She stands over the ground well on good feet, strong pasterns and good rear construction enabling her to push off and power around the ring. I had no hesitation in awarding her BOB and was pleased to see her go G3.
