A huge thank you to the society for their invitation to judge at their open show, I had a very enjoyable day in good company, fantastic hospitality and a friendly atmosphere, thank you to the exhibitors for a lovely entry and turn out, and who entrusted my judgement and handling of their lovely dogs.
Pointers.
Puppy (2) 1. Gordon’s – Hawkfield Bewitched. At 8 months old already having a strong aristocratic look, good outline and a well held topline, head with a well defined stop and pronounced occiput, equal plains and well placed dark eye, muscular through neck to a well laid shoulder, straight through front with sound oval bone, brisket deep to elbow, ribs well sprung and carried well back, strong muscular rear quarters, loin with good development, 1st and 2nd thighs well toned on a good turn of stifle, hocks well let down, movement was strong smooth and driven from the clean hind action covering the ring with ease. BOB. BPIB. 2. Gordon’s – Hawkfield Black Comedy. Another sound youngster with a lot to like, good looking in outline with a firm topline although a little longer than 1st, head with nice proportions, good stop and occiput, long through well laid shoulder, good depth through brisket and carrying a well sprung rib, well toned thighs on a good bend of stifle, oval tight feet, moved in a steady gait, was a little looser in front than 1st but that will come.
Junior (2) Repeat of Puppy Class.
Post Graduate (5,1) 1. Weavers – Jilony Zelda. A bitch smaller than others in class but with a correct well balanced outline, well held topline on the initial movement, good proportions to head with a well defined stop, strong through neck to well laid back shoulder, straight front with good oval bone, brisket deep to elbow, good spring of rib carried well back to a strong loin, short through couplings, strong rear with well toned thighs, moved smoothly with a correct gait driven strongly through the rear. 2. Dunn’s – Millpoint Heart and Soul At Casdellda. Mature bitch with a classic outline, head with good plains, defined stop and pronounced occiput, strong through neck, front with oval bone on straight forelegs, feet arched and tight, well ribbed back to a well developed rear quarters, moved with a strong smooth gait covering the ground with ease.
Open (3,1) 1. Millet’s – Riowood Orange Twist. Carrying a good outline and a well held topline, a strong looking dog with no excess, head with equal plains, well defined stop, well set brown eye, good length on a strong neck set to a well laid shoulder, front with deep brisket, oval bone on a straight foreleg, strong in pastern, well sprung rib carried well back to muscular loin, good bend of stifle carrying well toned thighs, moved in a strong smooth gait. 2. Weaver’s – Dappleline Chance For Anniezu. Nice outline and showing strength, good head plains and a kind expression from a dark eye, well defined stop and pronounced occiput, strong long neck, front straight with oval bone, brisket deep to elbow, well ribbed back to strong loin, good bend in stifle, feet tight and oval, gait was true and smooth but needed to stride out a little more.
Weimaraner
Puppy (1) 1. Hostler’s – Theondale High Hopes. Well balanced and impressive Puppy, with a good overall outline, all in all with good equal proportions, skull equal from occiput to stop as from stop to nose, a kind eye, moderate length to neck smoothly flowing through to a good lay in shoulder, straight through foreleg, chest developing well with a good spring of rib, held a good level topline back to a slight slope to croup, well toned thighs on a moderate bend of stifle, straight sound movement form a effortless gait. BPIB.
Junior (1) 1. Repeat from Puppy.
Post Graduate. (2) 1. Hostler’s – Theondale Margot JW. Outstanding outline with a well held topline, head with equal proportions and a good eye, moderate length in a strong neck slickly set into a well laid shoulder, good depth in chest to elbow, well sprung rib carried well back to a moderate tuck up, well let down hocks, well toned thighs on a neat bend of stifle, moved with drive in a smooth ground covering action.
2. Hawkins – Schonhund Show At The Oscars. Substantial larger dog of good proportions, with a strong level topline, head with good equal plains and a nice eye, neck good and strong, brisket deep to elbow and with plenty of well sprung rib, well toned and developed rear quarters, moved in a smooth clean gait.
Open (1) 1. West’s – Gunalt Frequency By Hantu (AI) JW. Mature bitch with a solid outline and a strongly held topline, head of equal plains and a kind intelligent expression, clean through neck of moderate length, shoulders well laid back, front assembly good with strong straight forelegs, well proportioned in height to length, well ribbed in a deep chest to elbow, feet firm and with well arched toes, moderate angulation at rear with well muscled thighs, hocks well let down, moved around the ring in a powerful clean action. BOB. Gundog Group 1.
Retriever (Nova Scotia Duck Tolling)
Puppy (1) 1. Morse – Sinsircariad Celtic Dragon. At 7 months old and already showing a kind confident demeanour, clean cut well shaped skull with a moderate stop, good colour to eye showing an intelligent friendly expression, strong neck of moderate length fitting to a well laid back shoulder, elbows close on straight forelegs, deep in brisket to elbow, ribs well sprung and carried back to a strong loin, well bent stifle with toned thighs, hocks well let down, smooth powerful movment with a well held level topline. BPIB.
Junior (1) 1. Kline and Kaplans – Leylines Study In Flight (ATC BC86865USA). 14 months old and well balanced with a good outline, really feminine in looks with a well shaped skull, eye’s of a rich amber colour giving a kind intelligent look, neck strong and not too long fitting smoothly into a good lay of shoulder, straight in foreleg with pasterns strong with a slight slope, deep through chest with a nice spring in rib, rear quarters with good muscle tone, stifles well bent and hocks well let down, moved with a steady gait with parallel movement fore and aft.
Post Graduate (3,1 W/D) 1. Morse – Eusanit Celtic Sea At Sinsircariad. Good overall outline and a well held topline on the initial move around the ring, nicely coloured eye on a well shaped skull, moderate length to neck with good strength, front straight and sound with good pasterns, deep through chest with a good spring to rib, short across the back on a level topline, strong through the rear with well toned 1st and 2nd thighs, well let down hocks, moved smoothly and with drive around the ring. 2. Brand’s – Coedhelyg Jingle All The Way. This fella had a spring in his step from the off, happy and full of life, good eye on a well balanced skull, neck strong, front assembly straight with slightly sloping strong pasterns, depth of chest good to elbow with plenty of good rib, rear quarters strong with a nice width to loin, movement was not his fortune today as he was giving the handler a bit of a time of it, eventually he did settle and was steady.
Open (3) 1. Adshead’s – Afonbach Syrax JW. Compact, strong looking yet agile, with a good overall outline and a well held level topline, head with a moderate stop and with good shaping through muzzle, rich dark amber eye giving a soft intelligent expression, neck strong and of moderate length fitting into a well laid back shoulder, front straight and strong with good pasterns, good depth to chest down to elbow carrying a well sprung rib, loin strong and muscular, 1st and 2nd thigh well toned on a good turn of stifle, hocks well let down, moved strongly in a positive driven gait. BOB. 2. Gough’s – Cretshengan Kitchi Lake (AI). Nice and sound in outline with a well held topline, head of good shape and proportions, good colour to eye, neck moderate and strong, shoulders laid well back, straight through front assembly with strong pasterns, deep through brisket correct to elbow, short across back to a strong loin, good bend in stifle, moved in a good uniform gait.
Lagotto Romagnolo
Puppy (1) 1. Phillips – Articbreeze City Light. 6 months old and already showing good qualities, good overall shape compact and giving a look of square ness, skull of moderate development at moment with a nice dark eye, ear set good level on with eye, neck of moderate length, nice lay to shoulder not too much at this time, front with strong oval bone in a straight foreleg, strong through a deep chest to elbow, strong across the back to a short loin, good bend in stifle with well toned thighs, movement was free and smooth, coat was correct with a good tight curl. BPIB, BOB.
Junior (1) 1. Phillips – Articbreeze Kiss Chase. Overall shape and outline showing good quality, skull with good proportions carrying a nice dark eye, neck of a correct length and with a slight arch, strong to the touch, shoulders well laid back equal to upper arm, straight through front and with strong bone, well sized through the body with a good depth to chest, short and wide through loin, rear quarters strong in thigh on a good bend in stifle, a little unbalanced on the move but did see enough to catch the smooth free gait.
Post Graduate (1) 1. Thomas’s – Articbreeze On The Double (AI). Again a lovely well turned out dog of good size and proportions, good plains to skull and all with correct lengths to skull and muzzle, neck strong with slight arch, front straight with nice oval bone, brisket deep to elbow, loin short and with width and strength, rear quarters of good tone and shape, feet compact and tight, well let down hocks, moved steady in a clean flowing action.

AVNSC Puppy (5, 2) 1. Salt’s – Culcrieff’s Ferntower Glen Of Wetnoses. Solid, sound and substantial showing a good outline and overall shape, flat skull on good length of head, good dark eye giving an intelligent expression, neck of tone and set well to shoulders, deep through chest broad without affecting elbows, forelegs straight with sound bone, loin strong and short, rear assembly strong muscular, stifle well bent with hocks well let down, moved with drive in a free flowing gait. BPIB. Gundog Puppy Group 2. 2. Pierce – Flatcharm Hobgoblin At Tarnmillcrag. Just ^ months old and a lot to like, pushed hard for top spot, carrying a good outline and sound topline, head with good plains and a nice dark eye, neck strong and of good length, deep through brisket, forelegs straight and strong, short in loin, well toned in 1st and 2nd thighs on a neat bend in stifle, moved soundly in front and rear, good reach from the front.
AVNSC Junior (4, 1) 1. Bennion’s – Menstonia Endless Dreams JW. Symmetrical and square giving the correct outline, head with good plains with well defined stop, eye’s hazel and giving the soft kindly expression, neck strong of good length and fitting well to a good lay in shoulder, well boned at front with straight forelegs, chest deep to elbow not too wide to affect elbows, well sprung ribs carried back to a strong loin, good muscle through thighs on a moderate bend in stifle, feet neat round and firm, clean ground covering gait driven from the strong rear. 2. Pilkington – Albadhu Playing With Fire At Baycross, Strong looking dog with a sound outline, broad in skull with excess, nice dark eye giving that trusting expression, neck strong and muscular smoothly fitting to a well laid back shoulder, front assembly with straight forelegs and strong pasterns, good depth in chest with a good spring to rib carrying back to a well muscled loin above short couplings, rear quarters with good well toned thighs on a stifle well bent, hocks well let down, a free long stride covered the ring with ease.
AVNSC Post Graduate (5, 3) 1. Gammon – Martgarian Zantara JW. Robust looking bitch with a good outline, sound level topline on the initial look and go round, lean through head with good proportions, nice colour to eye to coat, smooth through neck of good length fitting neatly to a good lay of shoulder, good front assembly strong through out, good through brisket not too wide or deep carrying a good spring to rib, well muscled across back to a strong croup, well toned thighs on moderate angulation, arched tight feet, moved with a gentle effortless ground covering gait. 2. Sharrocks – Vizash Hunor. Dog of a good outline, on initial movement showed well, head with a good lean look, nothing excessive, eye with good colour, neck strong and sound of good length, ribbed well back to a gentle tuck up, front quarters with straight forelegs and nice depth in brisket, strong in rear assembly nicely toned in 1st and 2nd thigh, movement was clean from rear, just wasn’t playing ball with me watching today, perhaps next time.
AVNSC Open (11, 5) 1. Moore’s – Fantastic Field Shine Like A Diamond At Gadhelic JW ( IMP FIN). Well balanced and clean cut in outline, head carrying a moderate stop and defined occiput, defined in eyebrows above a nice dark eye giving a soft happy expression, neck long and strong well muscled fitting neatly into a long well laid shoulder, front with strong straight bone, well developed deep chest, ribbed nicely back to a strong well toned loin, well let down hocks, strong through thighs on a moderate bend in stifle, feet round and tight, moved in a steady driven stride from the rear. BAVNSC. 2. Gammon – Glenbrows Reminiscent. Sound looking bitch with a good overall outline, head of good proportions and a nicely coloured eye, strong neck of good length showing no excess, fitting well into a neat shoulder, muscular through front with long fore arms upright pasterns, short across back to well toned loin, well sprung ribs to a slight tuck up, rear angulation moderate carrying well muscled thighs, moved with clean ground covering gait.
AV Import Register Open (3, 2) 1. Grime’s – Pry Acta Non Verba At Ansona (IMP SVK). This youngster caught my eye on entering the ring and I wasn’t disappointed, for under that tremendous double coat was a sound durable dog, with a head of good development carrying a prominent occiput, raised brows, equal across skull and muzzle, good shape to eye with ears set just above, muscled through a nice length of neck fitting well into a good lay back of shoulder, forequarters with strong straight forelegs showing strength in pasterns, good development in chest reaching down to elbow, well sprung ribs back to a neat tuck up at couplings, well toned 1st and 2nd thighs on a good bend in stifle, hocks well let down again strong through pasterns, showing good reach on the move, correctly held topline, driven from the strong rear quarters. Group 2. Brown and Burns – Magregor Super Nude Around Pothouse. Classic outline and a well held topline, head of neat plains not heavy or excessive, a good dark colour to eye showing a gentle expression, neck moderately long and with good strength fitting neatly to a good lay back in shoulder, strong in muscle across shoulders and down back to broad well defined loin, depth in brisket good to elbow, forelegs straight and lean with good bone, thighs strong and defined on moderate bend in stifle, moved well in a driven easy flowing action.
Group 3. Fryer’s – Dreamcast Elysium At Carolco. Fabulous clean cut bitch with a well presented coat, head of good development well rounded, defined stop, eye brows raised above a nice dark eye giving a soft gentle expression, long through a strong neck fitting neatly to a good lay of shoulder, chest deep to elbow, elbows tucked nicely in to enable a free flowing movement, good spring to rib, back strong and short to a well developed loin, strong through thighs on a good bend in stifle, moved in a smooth effortless clean action.

Well presented GSP with a good outline and well held topline, head and skull of good development and shape, nice dark eye with friendly soft expression, neck strong of good length fitting into a well laid shoulder, front with plenty of good bone on straight forelegs, feet neat and firm, brisket of correct depth to elbow, sound spring of rib carried well back to a neat tuck up, back to loin strong, with width to loin, moderate bend to stifle and carrying well toned thighs, moved in a steady driven effortless gait.
Gundog Puppy Group 4. Best Puppy in Breed Lagotto Romagnolo as above.
AV Gundog Veteran. (15, 6) 1. Burrows – Dilworthey Princess Lottie VW. Love the oldies especially when they stand so proud, this bitch didn’t disappoint, looked good, stood firm and moved around the ring in a manner that said ‘it’s mine’, well balanced in skull with defined stop, equal to nose as to occiput, eye of a good colour presenting a kind affectionate expression, neck of moderate length fitting neatly to a good lay in shoulder, deep in chest down to elbow, plenty of good sound rib, front of good proportions, loin strong and still with width, rear quarters with good muscle and carrying a good bend in stifle, coat in good order presented well, on the move never stopped wagging her tail. 2.Mason’s – Sandlauga Soul Man VW. Another classic oldie with still plenty to give and show off, head and skull of good proportions equal as Cockers should be, defined stop, no coarseness around the eye and cheeks, eyes dark and showing an affectionate expression, neck moderate well toned and fitting well to a well laid back shoulder, front quarters with strong straight bone, compact through body with good depth to chest carrying a good spring to rib which were carried back to a short loin, rounded and muscled, good bend to stifle and with 1st and 2nd thighs strong, straight true action on a driven from the rear movement.
