Coventry Ladies Kennel Society

COVENTRY LADIES’ KENNEL SOCIETY - OPEN SHOW – 1 JANUARY 2026

Thank you to the Secretary and Committee for the invitation to judge at this well run Open Show and to my stewards who ran the ring like clockwork, and to the exhibitors who entered under me with their quality dogs on New Years Day.

POINTER

P. (5).

1. Harrison’s Millpoint Silver Wings, very promising 8 month old B/W bitch of 8 months displaying a balanced outline when stood. She has a very feminine head of good proportions with dark expressive eyes, good foreface and dish. Clean neck and shoulders, has depth to chest, with elbows in, well rounded ribs for age. Is straight in front with good oval bone, sloping pasterns and compact feet, firm topline, muscled rear quarters and correct tail carriage. Presented in lovely condition and moved well once settled, BP.

2. Osman’s Fleurfield Benjamin Button With Marissolo, 12 month old O/W dog with lots to like with a masculine but refined head, good dish and dark eye. He has a strong slightly arched neck of good length set into well placed shoulders and return of upper arm, is straight in front with good depth to chest, good spring of rib for age, has plenty of bone, muscled rear quarters and correct tailset, not as positive on the move as class winner.

3. Collins Collholme Honeysuckle.

J. (5,2).

1. Siddle, Siddle & Mazzeo’s Wilchrimane Cereal Killer, striking 14 month old B/W dog with a pleasing masculine head of good shape, well defined stop with plenty of chiselling and dark eyes giving a kind expression. Long muscular neck leading into correct layback of shoulder and return of upper arm, good depth to chest with ribs carried back to strong short loin and sweep of stifle. Shown in lovely condition and moved effortlessly around the ring with good tail action, RBOB.

2. Osman’s Fleurfield Benjamin Button With Marissolo, (as above).

G. (2,1).

1. Wall & Dunn’s Meadowpoint Spooktacular, 2 year old L/W dog who is balanced throughout with masculine head, well worked with good eye shape, colour and dentition. Good reach of neck and shoulders, has depth to chest, is straight in front elbows close to chest and ribs well sprung and carried back. He has muscled hindquarters with good angulation, moved ok.

L. (6,2).

1. Webb’s Tenshilling Jimmy Mack JW, 3 year old O/W dog of quality with good shaped head, plenty of chiselling and gentle expression. Balanced in outline he is so well constructed with slightly arched neck of good length and return of upper arm, is straight in front, has good depth of chest and spring of rib leading to firm loin, muscled rear quarters and correct tailset. Moved soundly around the ring with plenty of drive from rear.

2. Brooksmith’s Nightgold Pipkin, 6 year old L/W bitch very feminine in outlook with a pleasing head of good shape, well worked and with good ear set. Strong neck of good length leading into correct layback of shoulder, good depth to chest, well angled body with good substance and depth, she is well ribbed back, firm topline and correct tailset. She moved ok but just preferred the overall balance and movement of class winner.

3. Cardiff’s Freebreeze Pixar At Prosperity.

O. (1).

1. Philo’s Sunhouse Black Is Back At Salmonmist JW (AI), 3 year old B/W dog of quality showing excellent overall balance when stood. He has a masculine head with nothing overdone, plenty of chiselling, lovely expression with kind eye, good stop and dish. Clean slightly arched neck into well laid back shoulders, deep chest, is well ribbed back, he Is straight in front with good oval bone, sloping pasterns and compact feet, a firm topline and muscled rear quarters. Presented in lovely coat and condition, a very sound mover in true pointer style, BOB.

FLATCOATED RETRIEVER

P. (6,2).

1. Bellamy’s Moonstruck I’m On Fire With Moontorn (IMP SWE), 9 month old promising liver bitch with a pleasing feminine head, eyes of correct colour, ears well set and with good dentition. She is balanced throughout with good angles front and rear, is straight in front, deep in chest and with correct shape of ribs carried well back, strong topline and well set on tail. Presented in lovely coat and so positive on the move for one so young and with good tail action, BP.

2. Markillie’s Hopevalley Morning Minuet, quality bitch of 11 months who is very feminine with a lovely moulded head of good proportions, dark expressive eyes and well set ears. She has a strong neck leading into well placed shoulders, has good depth to chest, is well ribbed back, has balanced angulations with plenty of bone and neat feet. Presented in gleaming black coat and one I really liked but she could not match the movement of class winner on the day.

3. McDuell’s Aspleypine Dig Dis.

PG. (9,4).

1. Bellamy & Nicklin’s Moontorn Count On Me, 13 month old black dog soundly constructed throughout with a well moulded head, dark eye and kind expression. Head carried well on long muscular neck leading into good layback of shoulders, excellent forechest, has good depth to chest, is well ribbed back, level topline, and has muscular hindquarters. He is well off for bone, tight feet and has good angles front and rear. Shown in excellent black coat and condition, moved freely around the ring.

2. Bowen’s Clandrift Funky Angel, 13 month old black bitch, lovely type of good proportions and not overdone in any way. She has a feminine head of good shape and soft expression. Good reach of neck flowing into well laid shoulders, has depth to chest with elbows in, well developed body for age, with plenty of bone and muscled quarters with good return of stifle. Shown in lovely coat and moved well but not quite the ring presence of class winner at this stage.

3. Griffin & Grierson’s Lamesbella Elliot.

O. (8,2,1w)

1. Bellamy’s ShCh Moontorn Better Half Of Me JW ShCEx OSW, 4 year old bitch of quality who exudes femininity and is so well balanced throughout with the right amount of substance. She has a lovely moulded head with flat skull and dark expressive eyes and proudly carried on a good length of neck leading into well laid shoulders, firm topline and correct tailset. Has good depth to chest, straight forelegs with good bone and neat feet, short coupled and with strong muscled quarters which she used to cover the ground in style. Well handled and presented in gleaming flat dense coat, BOB and pleased to award her G1.

2. Bowen’s Ch Clandrift Bring Me Sunshine JW KCWGC SGWC ShCEx OSW, 3 year old black dog of lovely size and type, very masculine in appearance without being overdone. He has a beautifully moulded head, a good length to his foreface, dark eye and correct dentition. Good length of neck into well angulated shoulders, has a body of substance, is deep chested with ribs back into strong loin, has muscular rear quarters and correctly set tail which he used to advantage, not in the best of coats today, RBOB.

P. (2,1).

1. Masters & Dott’s Fellini Of La Vie Magnifique At Manchela (IMP HUN), 9 month old liver roan dog of overall quality, substance and balance and is not overdone in any way. He has a lovely masculine head of excellent proportions with a good depth of muzzle and dark eye giving a melting expression. Moderate length of neck flowing into well laid shoulders with a good return of upper arm, has depth to brisket, short compact body with ribs developing well and with muscular rounded quarters that he used to power around the ring. Shown in lovely coat and moved true holding his topline on the move, BP & PG1.

J. (5,2).

1. West’s Edasiy Dream Upon A Star By Sheigra (IMP CAN), just 1 year old gold dog developing well with head of good shape with dark eye and low set ears giving an overall appealing expression. He is clean in neck flowing into sloping shoulders, deep brisket, well sprung ribs for age, has good bone, is compact in body and has rounded quarters, his balance and movement won him the class.

2. Stangroom’s Riondel Artemis Into Lappakia, 13 month old dark blue roan bitch with a pretty feminine head, dark expressive eye, low set ears and correct scissor bite. She has a moderate length of neck into fine sloping shoulders, ribs well sprung for age, well off for bone and with rounded quarters, lots to like but just needs time to mature.

3. Brothwell’s Wilanorah Sat’day Nite Diva At Wissant.

G. (9).

1. Leslie’s Ferrersedge Farthing, 2 year old orange roan bitch, compact and balanced, very feminine in head most appealing eye and expression. Clean neck and shoulders, ribs well sprung, is short coupled with firm rounded quarters. Stands on good bone, has tight padded feet and well let down hocks, moved out soundly around the ring.

2. Marshall’s Wissant Moon And Stars, 3 year old blue roan dog with masculine head with low set ears and dark eye. He has an arched neck with good shoulder placement, is deep in brisket with well sprung ribs, elbows in and stands on good bone and feet with firm topline which he held on the move. Just preferred the hindquarters of class winner.

3. Walker’s Spindlesway Heart And Soul.

PG. (5,1).

1. Leslie’s Ferrersedge Shilling JW, 2 year old light blue roan with lovely masculine head of balanced proportions, with a dark eye and gentle expression. Good neck and with shoulders well placed, straight in front with deep ribcage, is compact, level topline and rounded quarters. He is well off for bone and muscled throughout with tight well-padded feet. Presented in super coat and condition and moved out soundly which gave him the class, RBOB.

2. Brothwell’s Wissant Dear Darlin, 4 year old blue roan bitch, feminine with appealing expression, good chiselling, dark eye and, low set ears and good depth of muzzle. Clean neck and flowing into well set sloping shoulders, ribs well sprung, she is short coupled with firm rounded quarters. Stands on good bone, has tight feet, level topline and good tail action.

3. West’s Jamesfield Just A Star At Sheigra.

L. (4,1).

1. Turner’s Lochranza Celtic Spring At Dartemis, 2 year old smart black dog with masculine head, low set ears and kind dark eye. He is compact, standing four square with clean neck into good shoulders, ribs well sprung, firm topline and correct tailset. Has good bone and well padded feet, presented in lovely silky coat and moved with drive.

2. Brothwell’s Wissant Uptown Girl, 5 year old blue roan bitch of good size and shape with a pleasing feminine head and kind eye. She is clean through neck and shoulders, has a good forechest, well sprung ribs and firm topline into a really well made rear. Presented in good coat and condition and moved soundly with good tail action.

3. Sewell’s Lynwater Mad Hatter At Quattrozampe JW.

O. (6,4).

1. Saunders Carmelfair Corocenzo At Oxfordogs, 5 year old striking blue roan dog of quality, stands square and cobby with a masculine head correct in skull shape, well worked with dark eyes giving a kind expression. Moderate length of neck into well placed shoulders, is straight in front with elbows in, has depth to chest with well rounded ribs, strong short loin, firm topline and muscled hindquarters with a good turn of stifle. Very well handled and presented in excellent flat silky coat and condition and moved out soundly making good use of his tail, BOB and shortlisted in the Group.

2. West’s Sheigra Simply A Star JW ShCEx OSW VW, 8 year old compact black bitch with feminine balanced head, good chiselling and with dark kind eye. Moderate neck leading into sloping shoulders with good return of upper arm, well sprung ribs, a level topline, strong loin and muscular rounded quarters that she used to power around the ring with correct tail carriage and shown in lovely coat.

WELSH SPRINGER SPANIEL

O. (2,1).

1. Ward’s Glenbrows Flame For Tantaraviz, 2 year old bitch of good type with very feminine head, slightly domed skull and gentle expression from those dark eyes. Clean neck of good length flowing smoothly into well laid shoulders, good depth to chest and well ribbed back, firm level topline and strong hindquarters. She stands on good bone, has tight feet with moderately bent stifle and well let down hocks. Well handled and presented in straight, flat coat of correct silky texture, and moved out soundly, lots to like and although alone today a worthy BOB.

A.V.N.S.C. GUNDOG

P. (4,2).

1. Stone’s Sonnetend Brothers In Arms, promising 7 month old black Field Spaniel dog with a pleasing masculine head, is lean in muzzle with kind dark eyes and low set ears. He has a good reach of neck set into well placed shoulders, is straight in front with correct flat bone, has depth to chest with ribs well sprung for age and carried back to strong loin. Stands on good bone, has tight round feet and muscled hindquarters. Presented in coat of silky texture and moved with free easy strides holding his topline at all times, BP & PG4.

2. Braine’s Chilternway Allium, pleasing 10 month old Weimaraner dog with masculine head which is strong without being overdone has a good length of foreface, good eye shape and alert expression. He has a muscular neck of good length, depth to chest with ribs carried well back, strong topline and muscled hindquarters. Straight forelegs with elbows well in, has good bone with compact arched feet, positive mover with good reach and drive.

J. (4,2).

1. Hawkins Schonhund Show At The Oscars, 15 month old Weimaraner dog, larger in frame than 2nd but displayed balance overall. He has a masculine head, well worked kind alert eyes and long well set ears. Moderately arched neck, chest deep and well ribbed back, straight forelegs with elbows in, stands on good bone with compact arched feet and moderate bend of stifle. Moved ok once settled.

2. Braine’s Chilternway Allium, (Weimaraner), as above.

1.Hawkins Schonhund Show At The Oscars, (Weimaraner), as above.

2. Henefer’s Lost In Your Eyes, 21/2 year old Weimaraner dog, he has a masculine head, alert expression and correctly placed ears. Good depth to chest with ribs well sprung and carried back to short loin, has good width to his quarters with plenty of strength and well turned stifles. Rather erratic today so difficult to assess movement.

L. (5,2).

1. Clack, Eddery & Clack’s Epsilon Adhara At Molokain JW, 2 year old Curly Coated Retriever, a liver bitch of quality, balanced throughout with a very feminine wedge shaped head and eye colour matching her coat. She has a strong slightly arched neck flowing into well laid shoulders, is deep in brisket with well sprung ribs carried back to short loin, firm topline, muscled hindquarters and correctly set and carried tail. Presented in lovely coat with tight crisp curls and moved with good driving action from rear.

2. Pipes & Groves Bushwacker Don Juan JW, 2 year old Bracco Italiano dog with masculine head of good proportions and planes with plenty of chiselling below eyes, soft expression and good dentition. Strong neck of moderate length leading into well laid shoulders, good front, chest is deep and broad, well sprung ribs through to muscular hindquarters with moderate turn of stifle. Stands on lovely tight feet and good oval bone. Moved out with purpose with a positive long stride.

3. Willetts Prodigy Of Jacob, (Weimaraner).

O. (4,1).

1. Dummett & Vikhrova’s Nova Story Boogie Woogie (IMP MNE) JW, rising nearly 3 years this smart tri coloured American Cocker Spaniel dog has developed well since I judged him as a puppy. He has a masculine head, rounded skull, good eye shape and colour giving an alert expression and with plush square muzzle. Good length of neck, sloping topline, is balanced in angulations fore and aft and with deep well sprung ribs carried back to short firm loin, strong hindquarters and correct tail set. Well presented and put down in excellent coat and condition, BAVNSC & G3.

2. Clack, Battle-Hunter & Eddery’s Krisbos Leonidas With Molokain JW (IKC), Curly Coated Retriever, a 20 month old liver dog who is soundly constructed and displaying a balanced outline when stood and of good breed type. He has a pleasing wedge shaped head with dark oval shaped eye giving an intelligent expression. Good reach of neck into well laid shoulders, straight front, has depth to chest, well ribbed and with slight tuck up and balanced in angulations front and rear. Coat of tight crisp curls and presented in excellent condition and moved with good extension and drive from behind, RAVNSC.

A.V. GUNDOG VETERAN

1.Loverock & Waldron-Smith’s ShCh Thornywait Space Cowboy At Lovissa JW, I liked this 7 year old Golden Retriever for his overall balance, standing four square and ring presence. He has a gentle masculine head, well chiselled, with dark eye and good pigment. Good reach of neck into well placed shoulders with good length of upper arm, straight front legs with elbows tucked in, ribs well sprung, firm topline, correct tail carriage and muscled quarters, he stands on good bone with round feet. Presented in lovely deep gold coat and moved with reach and drive holding his topline firmly at all times.

2.Challis’s ShCh Vizslanya Aragonia JW ShCEx OSW, 7 year old Hungarian Vizsla dog of quality with a masculine head of good proportions and with soft expression. He has a muscular arched neck leading into well placed shoulders, is straight in front, elbows close to body, has good depth of brisket and spring of rib, level topline and well-set tail. Well muscled throughout with moderate angulation to hindquarters. Shown in good condition and moved out straight and true.

3.Romeo-Dieste’s Hopevalley Morning Rainbow JW ShCEx OSW, (Flatcoated Retriever).

PG. (3).

1. Boreham’s Aligngriffs Hawfinch, 5 year old well balanced Korthals Griffon bitch of good size and shape. She has a feminine head with moderate stop, round eye and correct furnishings. Strong neck into well placed shoulders and good length of upper arm, is straight in front, has depth to chest, correct ribbing, level topline held on the move, strong loin and strong hindquarters. Presented in harsh coat of good texture and moved well once settled, Best AV Imported Breed Register Gundog.

2. Boughton’s Gameglow Back To Black, 20 month old Braque D’Auvergne bitch with feminine head of good length with oval eyes of good colour giving a kind expression. Medium length to neck leading into good layback of shoulder, chest of good depth, she is well ribbed back and has well angulated hindquarters. Not the movement of class winner on the day, Reserve Best AV Imported Breed Register Gundog.

3. Boughton’s Parkbalk Ariel Dianell Avec Brwynstep, (Braque D’Auvergne).

G1. Bellamy’s ShCh Moontorn Better Half Of Me JW ShCEx OSW, (FCR), as above.

G2. Osman’s Bournehouse Sirocco Over Marissolo JW, (English Setter), nearly 3 year old tri dog who exudes maleness and is so sound and balanced throughout. I liked his masculine head, well worked with dark eyes giving a gentle expression, ears set low and good depth of muzzle. His neck is long and muscular flowing into well laid shoulders and corresponding length of upper arm, firm level topline and correct tail carriage. He is straight in front, has good spring of rib with strong muscled quarters, is well off for bone and has tight feet. Presented in super coat moving round the ring with drive using his slashing tail to advantage.

G3. Dummett & Vikhrova’s Nova Story Boogie Woogie (IMP MNE) JW, (ACS), as above.

G4. Nicklin’s Daenerys Girl On Fire At Dexbenella, (ESS), quality 18 month old l/w bitch so well balanced and constructed throughout with a very feminine head with desired chiselling, dark expressive eyes, correct ear set and good square muzzle. She has a slightly arched neck flowing into well placed shoulders, good spring of rib and compact body, stands on straight well boned legs and has well muscled hindquarters. Presented in gleaming coat and moved with good extension and drive covering the ground with ease.

GUNDOG PUPPY GROUP

PG1. Masters & Dott’s Fellini Of La Vie Magnifique At Manchela (IMP HUN) (Cocker Spaniel), as above.

PG2. Flockton’s Dylsonleigh Aurora, (Labrador), very feminine yellow 9 month old bitch showing plenty of promise. She has a good width of skull and length of muzzle and the kindest of eyes. Is well made throughout with a clean neck into well placed shoulders, straight front and good length of upper arm, has good depth to chest and spring of rib for age, is short coupled leading through to strong muscled hindquarters with lovely otter tail straight of her back. Well presented in lovely coat and moved with drive from all angles.

PG3. Challis’s Vizslanya Sarkany, (Hungarian Vizsla), 11 month old dog balanced throughout with masculine head, good eye colour and expression, ears well set and strength to foreface. Good length to neck into well placed shoulders, good front assembly with straight forelegs and tight feet with elbows tucked in, he has depth to chest with ribs well sprung for age and carried back to strong loin. Presented in hard condition and moved with drive from his well muscled quarters.

BEST RESERVE BEST OF BREED GUNDOG

Lewis’s Zenevieva Million Dollars For Fairwinds (AI) (IKC), 8 month old pale Golden Retriever bitch with lots to like with a very feminine head, dark expressive eyes with well pigmented rims and well set ears. She is balanced throughout with the correct amount of substance, ribs and bone for age. Good reach of neck into well placed shoulders, has good depth to chest, elbows close to body, level topline which she held on the move and with muscled hindquarters. Handled well and moved freely around the ring.
