A huge thank you to the club for the invitation to judge, I was thoroughly looking forward to this appointment and the quality of dogs did not disappoint. I had many difficult decisions. A big thank you to my wonderful stewards, Malcolm and Paula, for supporting me in the ring.

Boston Terrier

1. Crook, Sonduriya Running on Empty. 3 year old energetic dog who presented a pleasing square profile on the stand with graceful lines. I liked his head; dark, round eyes and good set on of ears which he used to complete his expression. Balanced angulation front and rear. Shown in great condition; well-muscled and a pristine brindle & white coat. BOB

2. Wells, Sonduriya Return of the Mac. 3 year old brindle & white dog. Great square proportions and overall size; I liked his sturdiness and structure. Well made all through, good spring of rib and strong short loin. Balanced footwork on the move although lost his topline at times. RBOB

1. French, Bincombefarm Morsmordre JW. A quality 2 year brindle dog with a striking cobby profile. Wonderful masculine head of correct proportions; dark eyes, strong muzzle and well positioned bat ears. Strong neck leading to a well laid shoulder. Good depth of chest and spring of rib. Strong bone and well-muscled all through. He displayed a free-flowing gait with balanced reach and drive. BOB

Japanese Spitz

1. Smith, Snowshoes Light of Lumi. 6 month old bitch shown in beautiful condition and the purest of white coats. Feminine head and intelligent expression, completed with small ears. I liked her make and shape and overall size. She moved well with a pleasing tail carriage and good drive from her hocks.

2. Church, Sanyinko Natsu Ame. 10 month old bitch; I liked her size and shape. Feminine all through, with more to come. She was a little unsettled in the ring today, when she settled she moved well.

3. Church, Sanyinko Natsu Taiyo.

1. Church, Sanyinko Barton’s Starlet. A well-presented feminine bitch; I particularly liked her size and proportions. She presented a pleasing profile both standing and on the move, maintaining her topline and tail carriage. Sweet head and expression. Well angulated front and back, sound on the move and light on her toes.

2. Smith, Snowshoes Tanana. 7 month old bitch full of personality and confidence. Striking profile when standing, very expressive and good use of her small alert ears. Shown in beautiful condition with a well plumed tail. Preferred the movement of 1 today. Best Puppy.

3. Smith, Kessaku Troublemaker at Yokosaka.

1. Cobb, Camylaw Midnight. This dog caught my eye for everything breed type; size, proportions, quality pure white coat and alert expression. Correct wedge shaped head with dark eyes with black rims, small erect ears which he used to full effect. Well-made throughout with good bone and tight feet. Level topline with a well plumed high set tail. He moved true coming and going, very light on his feet. Worked hard for his handler and was clearly enjoying his day. BOB & Utility Group 4

2. Edens, Ch Snowshoes Hex Girl at Dalens JW. A super bitch who gave a polished performance. Beautiful head of correct proportions and expressive ears. Good spring of rib and a muscular loin. Well angulated, with correct substance for size. Moved gracefully around the ring with balance. Certainly pushed 1 hard, I preferred his coat today. RBOB

1. Hill, Bargeway Dark Knight at Plymkees. Striking dog just out of puppy, full of confidence and energy. I liked his size and proportions. He was sporting a profuse, quality coat, all markings well defined. Masculine head with a dark mask and expressive eyes. Good depth of brisket and spring of rib. Lively on the move but when settled displayed a balanced gait. BOB

2. Predmiestina, Mama’s Plushy Devils Czar Stepu For Andemavis (Imp Ukr) Smart dog with more to settle. Well-schooled and shown in top condition. Masculine all through with strong bone. Held topline and tail carriage, I just preferred the balance of 1 on the move.

1. Johnson, Gladsheim Storm Chaser of Valleyrise. Balanced bitch with a pleasing profile. I liked her ear placement and expression. Enough substance for size all through, moderately angulated and compact feet. Shown in lovely coat condition. Moved elegantly around the ring.

2. Jones, Gladsheim Savanna at Maplecoombe. Feminine bitch with a well feathered coat, finer make and shape than 1. Graceful lines when standing. Level back which she held on the move. Moved with pleasing reach and drive, although a little close behind.

1. Davies, Millhanger Kemboy. 7 year old dog shown in tip top condition; muscular but not overdone, striking coat. Well-made masculine dog with good substance for size. Head of correct proportions, dark eyes and strong muzzle. He came into his own on the move, maintaining head and tail carriage, sweeping around the ring with plenty of reach and drive. BOB

2. Johnson, Sensation Vom Tespelkooi of Valleyrise VW (Imp Deu). 10 year old bitch, wonderful head and expression. Excellent condition for her age. Balanced angulation front and back. Unlucky to meet 1 on such great form today.

1. Dean, Amorevita Diamonds In The Sky. A wonderful 9 month old black bitch, shown in excellent condition. Sturdy and strong all through. Pleasing head with the darkest eyes and well placed ears. Well angulated with strong hocks which she used to drive around the ring effortlessly. Held her topline from start to finish, with correct tail set and carriage. Best Puppy & Utility Puppy Group 1. It was wonderful to see her take Reserve Best Puppy In Show today.

1. Nash, Antiquarius Gabriel JW. Striking black dog with chiselled features and a profuse coat. I liked his make and shape; balanced angulation front and rear. He won the class and ultimately BOB on his movement; gliding effortlessly around the ring with plenty of drive from strong hocks.

2. Dyer & Grindley, Regulas Black Malricey. Another quality black dog, shown in wonderful condition with so much to like. Correct proportions, expressive eyes and well-muscled all through. Preferred the movement of 1 today.

1. Hukin, Rennkiss Of The Spiderwoman. Super black bitch, shown in beautiful condition. Feminine head with expressive dark eyes. Strong neck leading to well-placed shoulder and good depth of chest. Plenty of rib, muscular loin and well angulated rear with defined hocks. Despite being lively at times, she moved with style and an effortlessly long stride. BOB

2. Parker-Stokes, Aurora Moonlight for Ronarker. A feminine 2 year old cream bitch. Presented a pleasing outline on the stand with a strong topline. Balanced angulation, well-conditioned all through with moderate muscle. Performed well, holding her topline and correct tail carriage on the move. Preferred the stride of 1 today. RBOB

1. Dyer & Grindley, Malricey Mr Meana. A super 9month old black dog shown in great condition. I liked his proportions, balance and general ring presence. Masculine chiselled head and dark eyes. Well laid shoulders and straight forelegs, tight feet. Good depth of chest and ribs carried back. Painted clean lines both standing and on the move; elegant stride, moving true coming and going. BP & Utility Puppy Group 3

2. Parker-Stokes, Afterglow Gilbert Grape. A 10 month old black dog with the sweetest expression, he wore his personality on his sleeve. A little finer than 1 but balanced and has more to come as he matures. Energetic on the move and needs to settle into a more controlled stride.

1. Holborow, Black Little Devil. A smart black dog with plenty to like. Held a striking profile on the stand and didn’t disappoint on the table; well-made and good muscle condition all through. Moved with powerful drive, holding his head and topline.

1. Wheeler, Verismo Dame Kiri Not Callas. A quality black bitch, super feminine head with expressive eyes. Good width of chest, muscular loin and well angulated front and rear with strong hocks. She moved gracefully around the ring with confidence and drive, holding her head proud and maintaining her topline. She was pushed hard in the challenge by the open class winner, it was a close decision but I loved her head & expression so she took BOB for me today.

Good width of chest and spring of rib. Well angulated front and rear. Moved out with good drive, lost his topline occasionally, more to settle on the move. RBOB

1. Jenner & Archer, Alamiks The Show Must Go On. 2 year old golden & white dog with much to like. Wonderful head and expression. Muscular neck leading to strong level back. Well made all through with excellent bone. A little unsettled on the table today, but performed well on the move.

1. Jenner & Archer, Alamiks Raspberry Beret. 3 year old golden & white masculine dog shown in great condition with an abundant coat. I particularly loved his head; broad with such expressive dark eyes and a good beard. Under the coat, he’s well made with plenty of substance. Wide chest, ribs well sprung and muscular loin and rear conformation. Wonderful mover with balanced reach and drive, maintaining his topline. BOB

1. Probert, Souska I Can’t Wait. Very promising young dog, masculine head with moderate width, expressive dark eyes and well cushioned muzzle. Well made all through with enough substance for size. Correct head and tail carriage on the move, went out confidently. BP

1. Davies, Tsarong Samaya. Beautifully balanced, quality bitch. Feminine head with pleasing width and defined stop. I loved her make and shape; she’s well angulated and moved out true, maintaining her topline and head carriage. Shown in wonderful condition and performed well. RBOB

2. Quest & Conibere, Lilileian Dancing In The Rain with Devontibs (Imp Fin). Another well-presented bitch, finer make and shape to 1, with lots to like. Pretty expression, correctly positioned ears which she used to full effect. Ribs well sprung and carried back. Well-schooled and attentive to handler.

3. Emery, Lacoral Cosmos.

1. Emery, Ricox Dance With My Father. Very sweet bitch with a calm and confident temperament. I liked her proportions, head carriage and topline. Well-laid shoulder, good spring of rib, moderate rear angulation with strong hocks. Moved with balanced reach and drive.

1. Keepence & Keyte, Oldcharm Peaky Love For Alandobel JW. 4 year old dog shown in tip top condition presenting a pleasing profile both standing and on the move. Masculine head with well cushioned muzzle and appealing eyes. Good set on of ears, muscular neck leading to good lay of shoulder. Solid topline, muscular loin and moderately angulated rear. Moved true, driving from the hocks. BOB

2. Quest & Conibere, Tiny Winnie De La Valoubiere with Devontibs (Imp Fra). 4 year old bitch with a sweet head and expression; she really made use of her ears to complete the picture. Well made all through with balanced angulation. Level back and well plumed tail. Light on her feet, moving with a free flowing action.

Good width and depth of chest, short muscular loin and correct set on of tail. Moved with an effortless stride, driving from defined hocks and maintaining topline. BOB & Utility Group 2

2. McShane, Claran Court of Chaos. 13 month old German Spitz (Klein) cream dog with a happy temperament. I particularly liked his head and expression. Compact and square in profile, well ribbed and shown in wonderful condition. Still more to come as he matures.

Feminine head with an alert expression; dark eyes and wonderful ears which she used to full effect. Good depth of chest, strong topline and balanced angulation with strong hocks. Moved with equal reach and drive, smooth easy gait. RBOB

2. Moore, Ch Odivane Sister Act. 6.5 year old Schnauzer, another quality bitch in top condition. Presented clean lines and an eye catching profile. Well made all through with strong bone and tight feet. Powerful mover. A little unsettled at times today.

1. Davies, Millhanger Kemboy. 7 year old dog – see best of breed for Kooikerhondje for full critique, a wonderful example, shown in exceptional condition. It was great to see him take Reserve Best Veteran In Show.

2. Edens, Dalens A Spot of Trouble JW ShCM ShCEx VW. 10 year old black spotted bitch shown in fit condition. I’ve judged this bitch a number of years ago and she still presents an elegant outline. She’s well made all through with good muscle condition. She moves with an effortlessly long stride, powering around the ring driving from her hocks.

3. Marshall, Arabesque At Devonia (Imp Rus) ShCEx. 7 year old Keeshond dog. I particularly liked his size and square proportions. Wonderful head and expression. Shown in tip top condition with a great coat.

4. Hall, Balgay Kitang Po VW. Tibetan spaniel 8.5 year old dog. I really liked his make and shape; he’s well built with good width of skull. He is full of charisma and was clearly enjoying his time in the ring today.

5. Quest, Lilileian Louis Vuitton JW ShCM ShCEx VW (Imp Fin). Tibetan spaniel 9 year old dog, another wonderful example. Masculine head and shown in wonderful condition. Performed well.

AV Utility Puppy (6, 2)

1. Lawrence, Waterley Soldier of Love. Tibetan Terrier 10month old dog – see Tibetan Terrier puppy class winner for full critique.

2. Bridge & Meyer, Tamilanda Staropramen For Akoni. 8 month old liver spotted Dalmatian. Promising youngster, pleasing substance and well-muscled for age. I liked his head and expression. Shown in wonderful coat condition, crisp white coat and rich liver pigment. Moved with a long stride.

3. Parker-Stokes, Afterglow Gilbert Grape. See Toy Poodle puppy class for full critique.

4. Edens, Dalens Jewel in the Crown. 11 month old black spotted Dalmatian dog. Masculine head with good width of skull. Good solid bone but not overdone. More to come as he matures. Would like more freedom on the lead to better assess movement.

AV Utility Champion (4, 1)

1. French, Ch Bincombefarm Serpensortia JW ShCEx OSW. 2 year old brindle pied French Bulldog bitch who filled my eye. Wonderful example; well-rounded, cobby and compact. I loved her head and expression; correct ‘bat ears’ and intelligent eyes. She’s well put together with ideal substance. Good width of chest and spring of rib, meeting a short muscular loin. Moved effortlessly with confidence. She later took Reserve Best Champion in Show.

2. Scott, CH/IR Ch Sophtspot La De Da at Belsmard ShCEx. A striking 6 year old black spotted Dalmatian bitch whose ring presence demands attention. She embodies the word ‘elegant’ presenting clean lines both standing and on the move. Nothing is overdone. Coat and muscle in tip top condition. Well made all through, balanced angulation and tight feet. Moved gracefully with a powerful long stride holding correct head and tail carriage.

1. Scott, Sophtspot Whirlwind JW. 1 year old black spotted Dalmatian bitch, full of breed quality and type. The most wonderful head with ideal width of skull, dark eyes and soft expression. She’s athletic, well-muscled and has strong bone but remains elegant. She moves with an effortless long stride, flowing around the ring with balanced reach and drive.
