Golden Retriever

My thanks to the committee for their invitation to judge at this well-run show set within the Staffordshire County agricultural show. Thanks to exhibitors for their entry and particularly Joyce and Karleigh for their patience and hard work as stewards. It was great to return to this show after many years exhibiting previously here. There was a lovely, busy atmosphere and lots of visitors showing interest in the dogs. Thankfully, the heatwave relaxed its hold a little on the day and there was a pleasant breeze which helped everyone and the dogs to feel more comfortable.

Minor Puppy 3.1

1 Nelson; Cadwst Eternal Ember. Lovely young female of 8 months. Nice overall outline. Pleasing expression on a well-furnished head. Liked her well-proportioned body with enough substance for her age. Correct well laid-back shoulders, straight front legs, nice and muscular. Lovey turn of stifle and tight feet. Moved well. BP

2 Booth; Haydengold Sweet Moments For Alihelnix. Another at 8 Months. Appealing and kind feminine head. Good shoulder placement, fore chest and width of chest. Correct reach of neck. Well laid back shoulders – lovely front angulation. Tight feet too. Movement a little looser than 1.

Puppy 5.1

1 Cadwst Eternal Ember.

2 Pietrykowski; It Takes Two Anarchia Box Wondertemple (IMP POL) Clean cut 10-month dog, good eye and ear set, good reach of neck and plenty of bone. Good depth of chest and stood proud. Well-bodied with good front and rear angulation. Moved ok.

3 Riley; Strettonhills Quevega

Junior 2.0

1 It Takes Two Anarchia Box Wondertemple (IMP POL)

2 Pietrykowski; Gorsgandrill Mona Lisa. Feminine and alert expression. Good breed type though, well balanced and correctly proportioned throughout. Flowing neck into deep chest. Body well ribbed up, nice rear angles. Movement was a bit erratic until she settled, then much better after that.

Graduate 5.2

1 Riley; Wylloh Paddington Bear JW Balanced dog, masculine with clean lines fitting the standard well and combining strength and power with that symmetrical and kind appearance. Muscular loin and legs. Well let down and straight hocks. Tight feet. Powerful and good driving movement.

2 Moore; Tenfield Klipspringer With Auryngra SGWC. Bigger than 1 but a nice, clean-cut dog, good eye and ear set, good reach of neck and plenty of bone. Good depth of chest and stood proud. Well-bodied with good front and rear angulation. Moved ok.

3 Staniland; Bermary Sweet Child Of Mine

Post Graduate 4.1

1 Moore; Purbarn Friends Together With Auryngra. So very pleasing to the eye whichever way you looked at him! Well balanced profile standing and so effortless on the move. Masculine head within the required proportions. Kind eye with lovely expression. Muscular hindquarters. Movement was flowing and true, front and rear. Well-deserved BOB today

2 Falconer; Cheek To Cheek Unbridled Dreams For Siatham (IMP FRA) JW Feminine but alert expression. Good breed type though and well balanced and correctly proportioned throughout. Flowing clean neck into deep chest. Body well ribbed up, nice rear angles and moved well. RBOB

3 Bermary Sweet Child Of Mine

Open Dog 1.1

Open Bitch 5.1

1 Bufton & Riley; Phoslas Polly Flinders. Feminine, well-constructed and presents a pleasing clean outline standing and on the move. Good head with typical outlook, reach of neck and correct shoulder placement. Well bodied. Very sound on the move, driving forward powerfully.

2 Magson; Castlegolden Classy Girl JW. So much to like about this one and so nice to go over. Finer in outline than 1 but still a strong well-made front, shorter reach of neck than 1 but in proportion. Deep chest and lovely side profile going around the ring. 1 had the clear edge on movement though.

3 Bermary Sweet Child Of Mine
