Thankyou for the very welcome invitation to judge at this well known gundog show. The quality in both my breeds was very high and both had a very good entry and I Thankyou for your continued support. It’s always an honour.

POINTER

PUPPY 4 (1 abs)

 1 st Norbury’s t Caraxes ( D )

11m old male,  Well developed but not overdone or exaggerated. Stood  his ground well.

Broad skull in proportion to foreface with well defined stop and deep muzzle giving the required impression of a dish face.Dark well shaped eye. Well set ears with fine leathers. Long, clean muscular neck flowing into strong well laid shoulders. Well developed forechest and deep brisket. Straight forelegs ending in slightly sloping pasterns and tight feet. Moderately sprung ribs but adequate for his age. Strong and muscular loin. Clean hindquarters with ample length to first and second thigh. Straight hocks. Well set tail which he moved sufficiently on the move. His movement was correct and steady. Please to see him pulled out in the cut for BPIS. Pleased to award him BPIB

2nd Robson’s Bradgate Wondering Star (B )

6m old bitch. Very stylish mover. 

Attractive head with correct proportions and sufficient stop. Feminine expression with dark well shaped eye. Well place ears of fine quality and shape. Overall her head is a little light at the moment but shes just a baby.

Well shaped neck, clean and muscular. Front angulation correct and displaying prominent forechest.

Straight front with correct oval bone and tight feet. Deep chest and strong loin. Well developed hindquarters with sweeping thighs and tidy hocks. Tail set on correct which she used in a lashing fashion on the move. As I said earlier a very lovely mover showing correct footfall and stylish movement.

 JUNIOR 

1st Brooksmith’s Sharnphilly Lyrical ( B )

14m bitch. Well balanced and muscular. Sharpe clean outline.

Broad skull with well defined stop and occiput. Muzzle a smidgen shorter but level with nostril and of correct depth. Slightly stronger expression. Correctly set ears of fine quality. Moderately long neck which is clean and muscular with slight arch. Strong and powerful front assembly with straight legs of strong bone and tight oval feet. Well developed spring of rib with correct depth to brisket. Strong loin leading to well developed hindquarters with well muscled thigh and second thigh. Tail set on correctly, albeit a little proud on the move. Smooth mover covering the ground well.

POST GRADUATE 4 ( 0 abs ) 

1st Kennedy’s Droveborough Black Magic JW ( B )

Not the biggest of girls but extremely elegant and stylish. She flows from nose to tail.

Broad skull with well defined stop and pronounced occipit . Correct length and debth to muzzle with well developed nostrils. Correct set ears with good shape and fineness. dark eyes with a thoughtful,kind expression. Her head flows nicely into a well shaped neck of good length with slight crest. Well laid back shoulders, well muscled. Tight elbows, straight legs of oval bone and tight feet.

Well sprung ribs with correct depth  to brisket flowing to elegant loin. Strong hindquarters but not overdone flowing from hip to hock. Correct tailset with tail of correct length and thickness which she lashed on the move. Her movement was precise and sharpe covering the ground well with style. Could not deny her BOB. I was slightly surprised she was not in the cut for BIS as in the bigger ring she really covered the ground with ease and style. BOB

2nd Barham’s Droveborough Witchy Woman JW (B )

Stronger build for this girl, still a lot to like.Correct skull of good width with well defined stop and deep muzzle. correct set ears of fine quality and correct shape.

Strong neck displaying strength and cleanly set into well laid back muscular shoulders. Straight legs of correct bone with tight feet. Well developed spring of rib with deep brisket. Powerful loin and well developed, muscular hindquarters. tail set on well and of correct shape. Moved well covering the ground with ease. Not quite the style of 1.

That explains why I was torn between these 2, and my notes are very similar, they are litter sisters.

1st Barham’s Droveborough’s Mocha Mayhem (B)

Another very nice class and topped by this bitch.

Well balanced and giving an impression of power and speed. Good width to skull displaying prominent occipital and well defined stop, correct muzzle  and well defined nostrils. Classic expression.

Elegant neck flowing into well laid back shoulder with neat elbows. Straight front legs with ample bone and tight feet. Deep brisket coming from a well sprung rib. Strong powerful loin leading to well developed hindquarters. Would have preferred a slightly better developed second thigh and more sweep from hip to hock. A strong mover with correct action. Well deserved RBOB

2nd Kennedy’s Droveborough’s Hells Bells JW

Smaller type of girl but still balanced and in proportion.

Typey head of good width showing well defined stop and deep muzzle.

Fine leathers well set. Dark eye giving kind expression. long muscular neck, sliding smoothly into muscular well laid shoulders. Straight front with correct bone, would prefer a tighter foot. Deep brisket coming and well sprung rib would have preferred them carried further back.Muscular hindquarters, would have preferred more sweep from hip to hock, however that did not detract from her smooth movement with correct lashing tail.

SPANIEL ( ENGLISH SPRINGER )

Well built and beautifully balanced.Beautiful head, medium length, skull and muzzle in proportion displaying ample stop and depth to muzzle. Dark almond shaped eye with tight rims and lovely kind expression.Well set ears of good weight and length. Clean strong neck of moderate length, flowing into well laid back shoulders. Excellent front angulation with straight legs of good bone. Moderate length to body showing a well developed spring of rib.Muscular loin and well developed strong hindquarters, showing correct bend to stifle and muscular thigh. Shown in lush coat and condition. His movement was true with clear drive and covered the ground with a long easy stride. Delighted to award him BP and watch him be awarded RBPIS which was richly deserved. Congratulations. BPIB

Another quality puppy just 9m old

Balanced and well developed but not overdone in any way.

Length of skull and muzzle in balance. Skull broad but nicely rounded. Showing a good stop. Dark eyes  and well set ears. Overall a very attractive feminine head maintaining all breed type.

Quality neck and shoulder. Showing good length and musculature with correct front angulation and tight elbows. Straight wellboned forelegs  and tight well shaped feet. Well developed body of good length showing a deep brisket and loin. Loved the way she flowed from her withers to her croup. Well developed thigh with moderate bend of stifle. Strong mover covering the ground well using her tail in a lively fashion.

It was very close decision between these litter sisters and I understand there was a third sister in the previous lineup.

This one was also very well balanced. A little more compact than 1. Very feminine head with strong skull and good stop. Preferred the depth of muzzle to 1. Good length to neck with correct front angulation  and straight forelegs. Well ribbed up with good depth to brisket.Correct hindquarters with ample width to thigh and second thigh. Moved well with ease.

POST GRADUATE 7 ( 3 abs ) 

1st Hoare’s Lymnoares Ode To Memory (B ) 

Overall a stylish well balanced mature female of good type. Broad skull slightly rounded with visible stop. Correct length and depth to muzzle, low set ears of great statue. Would prefer a more almond eye but does not detract from a very feminine expression.

Strong neck flowing into well positioned front assembly. Tight elbows. Straight forelegs of ample bone. Would prefer tighter feet. Level topline and well sprung ribs with a strong loin. Well developed hindquarters with correct angulation. Moved well covering the ground with ease. Please to award her BOB and delighted to see her pulled out for further consideration for BIS.  BOB 

2nd Proctor’s Forgespring Nobody’s Fool At Blissenbea JW ( B )

This one really caught my eye, ultra feminine with the prettiest of heads. Skull and muzzle all in proportion, correct stop. Well shaped darkest of eye, well set ears of great length. Such an appealing head and expression.Lovely length to neck.  And correct front angulation, neat elbows with straight forelegs of correct bone. Well sprung ribs and strong loin. Would have preferred her to sit deeper into her hindquarters . Moved well with style. Presentation was of the highest quality.

Upstanding dog of good proportions and balance.

Attractive masculine head full of breed type.Strong skull in proportion to muzzle. Exposing correct amount of stop with dark almond shaped eyes allowing for a kind expression. Well set ears. Strong powerful neck into well laid back shoulder, correct return of upper arm. Good length to leg with strong bone and good feet. Strong muscular body showing a well developed rib and deep brisket. Level topline. Well angle hindquarters showing correct angulation and musculature. Moved well with drive and another one very well presented. Please to award him RBOB

2nd Harris’s Melverly Amy Dorrit With Coastalglows ( B )

Very pretty female. Broad head with deep muzzle, all in proportion. With dark well shaped eye.Well angulated front assembly with neat elbows, straight forelegs of ample bone. Well developed body showing a good spring of rib. Well developed hindquarters with correct angulation. Moved well in an easy manner. Presented in beautiful coat and condition.

When owning a breed on the Import Register it’s important to remember that you are an ambassador of the breed and Im usure as enthusiasts you want to increase their popularity.

Therefore its essential at this stage of the journey to display the very best of all aspects of owning and showing your breed.

 1st Boreham’s Aligngriffs Hawfinch (B ) (Korthals Griffon)

Found this girl to be very attractive.

Overall a strong , well balanced dog not exaggerated in any way. Loved her head which was strong with good width to skull , correct length to her parallel muzzle. Despite having a profusion of beard and eyebrows which where delightful, she was incredibly feminine with the kindest of expressions.

Strong neck. Well laid back shoulder and good length of upper arm. Well muscled. Straight forelegs with strong bone. Well sprung rib and deep brisket. Strong loin. Strong powerful hindquarters with well developed thigh. Moved well with a good length of stride allowing her to cover the ground easily. Moved at one with her handler.  She was covered in a very even harsh coat. I was very pleased to meet her and delighted to award her Best AV Import.

2nd Sladden’s Khyannes Villette At Canemammans ShCEx VW (IMP HUN ) ( B ) Braque D’Auvergne

Long head with muzzle and skull almost equal. Moderate stop and deep muzzle. Dark eye with soft expression. Low set ear of good length.Reasonably long neck into well laid back shoulder  and correct length of upper arm, displaying ample forechest. Straight front with tight feet. Good length to body with well developed ribcage. Moderate bend of stifle. Moved with a long stride when settled, unfortunately she was not enjoying her day out. RBAVIR
