I would like to thank the officers and committee for their kind invitation to judge at this show, held in conjunction with the Hound Association Championship Show. It turned into a long, hot day, and I am genuinely grateful to all the exhibitors who stayed and gave me the pleasure of judging their lovely dogs. The quality of those present was super, and each exhibit was a real credit to its owner.

Basenji

It was an honour to assess such depth of qu. The standard was exceptionally high, and on another day the exhibits could quite justifiably have changed places

1. Miss Addis - Mawali It Takes Two With Savannastorm

Very promising 7 month old red & white bitch, presenting a pleasing and well balanced outline for her age and showing herself with confidence and style. She has a nicely proportioned head with a keen, alert expression from her dark almond eyes. Good length of neck flowing into a firm, level topline. As expected at this stage, she still needs to finish in body, but everything is developing in the right direction. Using her hindquarters effectively to drive around the ring while maintaining her outline.

1. Mrs Legget - Here We Go Again At Swanwite JW

Shapely 18 month old tri bitch who presents a lovely flow to her outline, very elegant with a light build. Well proportioned feminine head with a flat skull; obliquely placed eyes, just a touch lighter, but still giving a pleasing expression. Good length of neck with a defined crest, leading into a firm, well held topline and a good length of leg to complete her outline. Shows a flowing profile gait, not quite as precise in front action today, but with good drive from the rear.

1. Mr Wright - Ch/Nl Ch/ Int Ch Mawali Going Four Gold

Smart 5 year old red & white dog who portrays an elegant yet masculine outline. Lovely head and expression from his flat skull showing good wrinkle, dark, obliquely set almond eyes and small hooded ears. Good length of neck with a pleasing crest leading into a firm, short back. I liked his topline and underline, with a good length of leg to give a shapely silhouette. Moderate hindquarters with a tight tail and good shelf. Presented in lovely condition. A good mover who pushed very hard for top honours. BD

2. Mr & Mrs Carrington - Ch/Int Ch/Multi Ch Bushwacker Oceans Eleven

Much to admire in this 5 year old tri dog, who presents an impressive outline on the stack. Graceful and masculine, with good overall body proportions. Pleasing head, balanced, with well placed dark eyes, hooded ears and a keen expression. An elegant neck leads to a good depth of brisket; not quite the forechest of the winner, but holding a firm topline with moderate hindquarters and a short hock to heel. Today the winner just had the advantage in front on the move, but thought him to be a stylish dog who goes around with presence and quality in abundance.

1. Miss Clinton - Ch Akmar Napatan Gold For Westlawn JW

Stylish 3 year old tri bitch, full of elegance and graceful poise. Lovely headpiece, with a flat skull and the desired wrinkle, tapering cleanly into muzzle. Neat hooded ears and alert, dark almond shaped eyes complete her expression. Long, well crested neck flowing into a well filled forechest. She stands on slender limbs of good length, with tight feet. Having good depth of brisket, a definite waist, and a tight tail with a shelf behind. It was on the move she secured the class today, such a light, swinging stride, full of effortless elegance. 2. Mrs Dunsdon - Ch Mawali New York New York

Thought this 3 year old red and white bitch was lovely, such a close decision between these two quality bitches. More compact overall, with a good length of leg giving her a balanced outline. Attractive head, well chiselled with wrinkle, dark almond eye well placed, giving a keen and typical expression. Chest well let down. Correct amount of bone. Lovely topline and tail carriage, leading to strong, muscular hindquarters and low set hocks. Today she was not quite as tidy in her front action, but she showed a super side gait.

1. Mrs Legget - Ch/Ir Ch Swanwite Take A Chance On Me CW25 Shcex VW

In lovely condition, this 7 year old red & white dog has a masculine head with a flat skull and slight stop. Small, hooded ears and dark almond eyes give him a keen, alert demeanour. He has a lovely, crested neck of good length, depth to the brisket and a pleasing spring of rib, leading into strong, wide quarters with a good shelf. He flows well on the move, not quite the precision in front today, maintaining his outline in profile. BV & RBVIS

1. Hall - Ibizan Hounds

Very coordinated both in appearance and when moving out together. A quality pair of Ibizans, matching well in outline and balance, and complementing one another on the move.

The Grant Carter Memorial Open Stakes (9,7)

1. Mrs Morris - Kiki La King Daida Los Delhi (Imp Deu) Ibizan

This 14-month-old Ibizan bitch presents a lovely outline, displaying excellent balance and refinement in build. She has a typical headpiece with a long, flat skull, expressive almond-shaped amber eyes, and large, mobile ears. Her neck is of good length, leading smoothly into a firm topline and a shapely underline, with just the right amount of depth to the brisket. She just needs to tighten a little more in front. On the move, she shows a wonderfully light action with a distinctive, slight hover.

2. Mrs Clark - Magida Sabiih Al Sahra At Thiefside Shcex VW

So much to admire in this 8 year old Sloughi bitch. I liked her proportions, square, racy and typical. Feminine head, long and balanced with the foreface, complemented by large dark oval eyes. She holds an almost level topline with flattish ribs, and uses her wide quarters to produce a smooth, effortless action.

Miss Parker - Ch & Am Ch Hallam Desert Phoenix Bakhu’s Max One In A Million (Imp USA) – Pharaoh Hound

Impressive 7 year old Pharaoh Hound, noble in his bearing and majestic in his poise. Strong and muscular, yet retaining masculine grace. Most appealing head, clean cut with parallel planes and good chiselling, his oval amber eyes and mobile ears combine to give a keen, alert expression. Long neck flowing into a well held topline, with the chest well let down and a gentle underline. Moving with style and vigour, maintaining his elegance and carriage throughout.

Ms S Hall - Kiwi Treasures Tennessee Whiskey For Hollybrook (IMP USA) – Ibizan Hound

Naughty but nice, this 8 month old Ibizan Hound bitch was giving her handler a hard time, but her quality is undeniable. She shows a balanced, proportionate outline. Pleasing head, long and fine, with large mobile ears. Her long neck carries a slight arch as it flows into a firm topline. She has strength in her hindquarters just needs to settle on the move.
